Actually, OJ, I did like the Merc Missions as I thought they gave your Blades extra purpose, and was a good way to cut down on the grind on trying to power-up your Blades when it came to their Affinity Charts. And besides, even Common Blades have their uses as I learned on the Xenoblade wiki, such as modifiers that go anywhere from 21 to 24%, Luck modifiers, certain Field Skills and even battle skills like Element Orb Specialist (or whatever it was called). Yeah, I can admit the whole gatcha thing with the Core Crystal system is pretty tedious (still have yet to get Akhos in New Game Plus), but once you get the Rare Blades, it's a nice feeling. And besides, the more Common Blades you max out the Affinity Charts form, the more items you get to build up Weapon Points to increase Driver Art levels. Still, doesn't change the fact this new DLC content is going to be awesome, and a refreshing change of pace from the main game. And honestly, the numerous differences you listed show it to be its own game, which shows just how much love and dedication Monolith Soft shows their games and in trying to please the player (see, Andrew Wilson? THAT is good for the player). I guess a bonus number 6 change I'd say for this game to add to your list is the more jazzy soundtrack. Personally, I do prefer the mix of rock and orchestral in the main game, but the new jazz soundtrack does help to distinguish it from the main game, and does help to brighten the mood a bit, despite the fact you know how this story is going to end, being a prequel and all. And overall, it's a nice contrast to, once again, show how much dedication Monolith Soft shows their games, be they full-blown games or even DLC side-stories.
VCiPz Do you have the 4 advance jobs? You're gonna need them, and I'm not fooling with the true final boss. I don't have the time and patience to level up my other characters..lol
So this one is a little more simplified...that's good. XC2 just had too much unnecessary fluf and systems (aux cores, core crystals, field skills, affinity, ect...) and even though I am enjoying it for the most part, I can't believe I stuck with it and am on the verge of beating it, with the amount of stress it has given me.
Really good video PE Ninja Master. I played XBC2 mostly in Table Top and I had no problems playing it way at all but if it's sharped up n running better I am all up for that. Better Combat flow is gonna be great. Fighting switching between the Blades n Drivers in Torna DLC, let's go guys. More weapons all round for every character adds more combat opportunities, can't wait too check it all out. Core Crystal system was abit grinding lol but having all the powerful characters right of the bat is brill. Torna as a standalone is definitely a pick up for anyone.
Finally managed to get back, acquire Shulk&Fiora, Elma, swimsuits, AND complete New Game Plus all within the past few weeks The only blade I still haven't got - KOS-MOS 300+ hours in, totally worth it... core crystals be damned Since December games don't count, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (as a whole, DLC included) is my game of the year
I'm playing the series in a very unorthodox style. Playing Torna "first" since it's a prequel then play XC2. It'll be awhile and keep me busy until Pokemon Lets Go
I was hoping for Generic Blades could be used in DLC Story , while other Drivers has 2 unique ones that only they can use , to greatly customize the characters, but whatevs lol. Even though that Core hatching RNG irks me (and i really hate heavy Luck and Chance related stuff) , i guess it kinda grew on me , Atleast it don't cost Real Money to get Core Crystals, unless they made a XenoBlade 2 for Mobile devices.... So player can only focus on how to get more cores.
I wish every rare core crystal in xc2 was a guaranteed draw. Like say you only get 1 for doing every 5 side quests or something + then you get a random rare with it. This way you can't just cheese it + get them all ASAP but don't have to deal the gacha. Keep common cores how they work though!
Only thing i don’t like about this game is the Community level system forcing you to do the side quests in order to advance the game got old fast to me but other than that it’s solid
Lmao i got Torna thinking it was regular Xenoblade 2 but thank god its a prequel, so technically im playing in the right order. Btw Bridghid best girl (I love blue fire thanks alot Blue Exorcist)
Hope this performance and quality update comes to the main game as well.....plus hoping it not made too casual and there is some challenges to this new change in combat....... plus not sure if new comers will get overwhelmed when playing main game after this dlc game
Definitely not too casual. In some ways, the DLC actually may be harder. Healing isn't as easy as it is in the base game (even with the new red health mechanic) so you'll die a lot more. The combat has simply been refined, not made casual. Also I do hope the performance and quality boosts (no matter how small they may be) come to the base game in v2.0 tomorrow
- no more blade combo chart to follow so easy orb stacking - no roles (wild cavalier, Royal Knight, etc ) since no different weapon and blade to use - light, dark, water, fire, wind, ice, electic, earth all element present in party well cuz no blades to use - hard healing?? the game is been played by journalist and not by us hardcore jrpg players - easy to do drive combo YEA!!! the combat is made simplified for casual cuz lot of mechanics and learning curve in the main game (this is fine if there is connection with story but will new comers be able to take in with the learning curve of the main game with this dlc as their 1st entry game to XC2 main story that my biggest issue)
Core crystal mechanics is an optional not madatory for the game.... its a part of jrpg games (GRIND FEST) and i like it a lot plus this dlc is being made for casual i feel like cuz there is less strategy & combat customization in comparison to base game it seems.... hey but if this is some how connected with the story as to why people fight like this after and before the aegis war (the combat system of XC2 is connected with the story to begin with so yea really curious to see what reason they have)
That RMG core crystal mechanic was the sole reason why I stopped playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2. With this information, I'm preordering This DLC as soon as I get home. Thanks OJ.
I havent picked up the original XBC2, I heard mixed reviews about it. But the fact that this is a standalone and I'm hearing good things about it makes me want to get it.. Would I be missing out on anything if I just got this by itself?
Brennen Streicher I would hardly call 83% on metacritic mixed. There were some reviewers who had a problem with the game having a anime style and some issues with a few game mechanics. It’s all been ironed out since then. Pick it up, the story is fantastic.
DDub 64 I totally understand. The core crystal mechanic really annoyed me. I think the most important aspect for me was that the story was good and how it expanded the mythology of Xenoblade 1.
Have or will these changes be implemented in the main game? I passed in Xenoblade 2 because I wasn't feeling the details of how the game functioned based on what I was seeing. However, I want to get this Expansion, because it much more appealing and accessible to me.
Enrique Pinero No official word on that, besides that would kinda break the game and would be a huge update to implement. If you don't care that much about being spoiled on the story then you could definitely try out TGC first
Who can tell me how can I do to download the DLC...I've the season pass and the last update of the game (2.0.0) and I don't have the DLC to play it, I need some help to play this DLC...my game is a physical version.
after seeing the footage of this, i disagree, the battle system doesnt make sense, i mean, the blades supply power to their drivers through their weapons, and in the footage you showed, we see jin supplying power to lora while still holding his own weapon and he is just standing there not even taking part in the battle, why is he even there at the battle if she isnt using his weapon and he isnt helping beat the monster? it makes him kind of pointless then there is the part of the footage where we see what looks like lora supplying energy to jin, but, blades are supposed to supply power to the drivers, so why is lora now standing in the back instead of taking part in the fight? it makes no sense
Did they fix the broken world map pacing? Because it was awful!!! Did the also change the battle system?because its the worst iv ever played in a rpg game, if it was turn based like dragon quest 11 it wouldve been a masterpiece of a game.
Turn based and action based battle systems are two completely different types of games lol. Xenoblade has always been action combat since XC1 so they wouldn't just change it up unless it was a spinoff. Also for me it's my favorite battle system in any JRPG because I love the complexity but to each their own
I didn't mind the core Crystal and farming. It felt optional, but I made the decision to go hard on it. Haha
Cant they just bring those battle system to the main game? I want to fight as Corvin. he is cool AF, better than Rex imo
Alfian Pratama I wanna play as the monado boi
Halfway through Xenoblade Chronicles 2, but the hype for this Expansion is real looking forward to start on that after I beat the main game.
One more week till the physical editions let's go! With Torna and all the dlc I'll add 100 hours of gameplay minimum!

Loving the changes. Monolithsoft has done a SOLID job with xenoblade 2 constantly making good improvements since release.
Nice work, OJ! Nintendo sees your love for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and that's well-deserved
I'm definitely buying the physical copy whenever I get done playing Shining Resonance and Ys8. I finally beat Octopath the other day. Lol
I'm buying the physical when i finish the digital version.
Mine N Adventurer _The Aegis Boy_ nice
Shining resonance? Lol game of the year
@@VCiPz sorry but you have to use all 8.

Game is lit, can’t believe I just started on it. Without realizing it was on my copy of XC2 As DLC. Torna is 🔥🔥🔥 so fat bout 18 hours in
TORNA HYPE BAYBEEEE, Just one more day!!
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 should adopt the performance, battle system and partly community system from Torna
So about 2 weeks later and I'm a couple max leveled arts away from 100% completion. Everything else is complete.
Finally managed to get back, acquire Shulk&Fiora, Elma, swimsuits, AND complete New Game Plus all within the past few weeks
The only blade I still haven't got - KOS-MOS

20 hours into Torna and this game rocks! All these improvements are so good, I am at work and can't stop thinking about the game lol
I'll shave to play this first before getting into Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
It’s smoother any look much better than XC2. But XC2 still my favorite Switch Game. Best game every recommended to me. Thanks OJ 💯
3:59 Why did Jin jump off the bridge? 😂😂
To get to the other side
Because Jin is too cool to walk on a bridge

I feel your pain im on ng+ still no cosmos
Same but hey on the bright side I've finally gotten kora which means I only need to get 5 more blades (I'm on ng+).
A moment of silence for this guy...

Very fluent in repeating the whole game title correctly although could just say Torna
December 2018 and thinking of buying this. Could anyone briefly summarize some of the major "quality of life" changes they have made since release?
i don't want to get back into this game it just feels like such a chore to play it.
Wait you can't show any new footage?
Deus Knight I don't think the embargo for reviews/footage (footage not from PAX West) lifts until tomorrow
I was really luck and got kos-mos as my first balde from my first common core crystal
I'm getting the special edition when i can
Should I finish the main storyline for XBC2 storyline before Torna?
I havent picked up the original XBC2, I heard mixed reviews about it. But the fact that this is a standalone and I'm hearing good things about it makes me want to get it.. Would I be missing out on anything if I just got this by itself?
You should get XBC2, it is really good, most of the mixed reviews are either nitpicks, or fixed up with patches nowadays.
Brennen Streicher I would hardly call 83% on metacritic mixed. There were some reviewers who had a problem with the game having a anime style and some issues with a few game mechanics. It’s all been ironed out since then. Pick it up, the story is fantastic.
You should watch my video. I talk about that at the end dude.
DDub 64 I totally understand. The core crystal mechanic really annoyed me. I think the most important aspect for me was that the story was good and how it expanded the mythology of Xenoblade 1.
Though you wouldn’t miss anything if you got Torna first, many of the mysteries that made the base game so good and interesting would be lost.

I can't take it when he calls it by it's full name every single time he says it: "Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna the Golden Country."
It's really not that big of a deal. Lol

Is this game free foam after beating the main campaign?
