      Hey team, I have a 23" torso and I had to return a local medium alice pack because the frame was too short for my torso. Do your packs resolve this issue?

    • @outbackAus260
      @outbackAus260 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LukePighetti Hi Luke, that will depend on what frame you use with our packs.
      The Medium Alice Pack backs are 45cm compared to our Large size Alice Packs which are 59cm tall.
      Our medium Alice packs are also compatible for both medium and large size traditional metal Alice Frames

      @@outbackAus260 Hi there. Some ignorance on my part. At the store I compared surplus Alice mediums and larges. It looked like both frames were the same length. They both fit me the same, the only different was the large pack was deeper/lower. Did I misunderstand? Are you saying that your large packs have a taller metal frame? Because of the shortness of both Alice frames I tried, the hip belt lies at my belly button. I am 6'3" and have a 23" torso. Cheers and thanks for taking the time to respond.

    I found your channel and was blown away by this pack and your review. I, immediaely, went to their site and was crushed to find out that they are closing down. I have requested the schematics for your pack design. Maybe, a BIG MAYBE, I can find an outfitter, here in the United States that would build this pack to their specifications and your improvement with the lid. I will let you know what I find out. Thanks for your service and for your channel and review. Keep at it and God bless.

    Looks nice. I used a SAS/Para Bergen for many years, very sturdy but they used to destroy your back on fast tabs, as there's no waist strap or sternum strap. The modern composite frames are nice, like the 1606 frame used on the JayJays bergens. That would be a nice upgrade if it is compatible with this rucksack.

    • @outdoorbasics2562
      @outdoorbasics2562  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The SAS/Para Bergen was some old school Ally don’t know if the 1606 frame is compatible worth a look but I’ve been looking at the Malice frame from Tactical Taylor but for Bergen phys still love my Tailored issue Bergen

    I've just ordered this pack from outback packs and gear with a few mods including 1000d cordura construction. Great communication throughout the build. If the build quality is anything like the video it's going to be something special.
    I'm glad I don't have to carry all the mission essential equipment anymore in the Army. Which is why this medium alice pack is perfect for bushcraft. Looking forward to testing her out. Cheers guys

    I have a custom made pack made by Outback Packs and Gear and can confirm that the packs are world class and the customer service is second to none.
    My biggest complaint is that the pack that they made for me was so good I don't really have a reason to buy another.
    The idea I had for a pack was completely different to anything they make but they were happy to make it and make it well. There was a lot of two way communication during the design stage as well as the build. Feed back from the maker was good and constructive. When I had a bad idea they wouldn't say "well that's shit" but would instead say "that may not be a good idea due to A, B and C, we recommend trying X, Y and Z instead because of....." Every suggestion they made was good and made the pack better.
    In short I am not surprised by this review at all. I would love to see follow up reviews on this pack each year so those sitting on the fence can see that these custom made packs are worth every dollar. Well done on the video and well done to Outback Packs and Gear.

    How's it holding up a year on mate?

  • @MrTangent
    @MrTangent 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Couple of things I think need improvement:
    1. Bottom of pack needs lashing points. At least four places so you can put two straps through to carry bedroll, sleeping pad, etc.
    2. Three front pouches need drawstring enclosures inside (sort of like what’s in main top opening). This way if you fall, it keeps everything inside).
    3. Top claymore pouch is WAY too big. Not only does it need moved, as you stated, but it’s too large.
    Otherwise, fantastic design and excellent improvement on the venerable, but proven, Medium Alice Pack.

      I've just got hold of the new US Army Airborne Molle Rucksack based on the Alice Pack, Frame is made of Carbon Fibre/ Plastic that can withstand a Para Jump, Check it out mate,
      I had a Alice Pack in the early 80s the shape was larger at the top and pulled you backwards, I was also issued with the Para Bergen, which was a nightmare, I use to use the Berghase Rock, But the RAF would give you grief jumping with it..lol
