From my experiences, having played both Cleric classes, Templars make excellent group and raid healers when working with plate tanks but I would not recommend them with Brawlers until level 80 when they receive Repent (single target ward). Inquisitors don't heal Brawlers any better than Templars but they have Forced Obedience, an encounter debuff that reduces offensive skills that when paired with a Brawlers regular avoidance means the Brawler rarely gets hit at all making healing a Brawler as an Inquisitor much less nerve wracking than as a Templar. Druid or Shaman would be better still for healing a Brawler than an Inquisitor but at least the Inquisitor is functional.
In general, wards (Shaman) are best against the big slow hits as they prevent most if not all damage in the first place, regeneration spells (Druids) are best at healing after the fact and reactives (Clerics) are the most limited as the heal only applies at the moment the damage was taken. Reactives are best against large groups of mobs that hit fast but not particularly hard, such as the books fight in Ward of Elements. EQ2 fights trend far more to the big hard hits, especially in raids. Having unused triggers on a reactive heal when the spell expires is all too common.

I settled on inquisitor myself, but i barely started my character on Varsoon. Although I believe the main appeal of Inquisitor for me won't come into play until AAs are implemented, at which point they should gain melee versions of their attacks. When given the choice between a more aggressive and a more defensive healer i tend to favor aggressive, so having the procs and dps buffs is more appealing to me even knowing templar might have an edge on healing with their better defensive buffs.

Absolutely. Good point. We have an inquis in our main raid, so they are fine. It just takes a few expansions for them to come into their own.

Did a little bit of group healing some years back. I might just be super bad at playing healers, but I kinda feel like healing is super weak and almost feels pointless. Really wanted a Templar or Inquisitor, but when trying to heal for Deathfist Citadel in a group, I ended up just kinda having to give up and swapped for an enchanter to let the paladin heal themselves and deal damage which worked better.
If this really is just me being uniquely worthless as a healer, could you perhapse make a small guide video for how to be effective as healer?
Been playing on and off since launch and have sometimes played healer with my necro, and never known particularly big issues, so I'm seriously puzzled how it could go worse for me with a dedicated healer. Started becoming a healer main in almost every game I play, so would like to master Healers here too, instead of having the experience I did and writing them off as basically useless >

Thanks for the suggestion! I'd love to help you out on healer. I have a bunch of notes for a video specifically for healing. Going to try to put that together in the coming weeks.
