I'm so happy someone is making EQ2 content! I played on live through 2012 and CoE but a lot of the launch stuff (like upcoming splitpaw, etc) was just stuff I never did originally. These videos are very helpful.
As someone that has never played EQ2 before and is planning to jump into the game for the first time on Varsoon, these videos are extremely helpful for me. I’ve watched similar class guides for the game but none of them explain the classes and their abilities and roles in a group as good as your series of videos does. Also, the fact that you point out what WON’T be on a class at the very start (ex: Mystic not having its “melee” spells or its summonable pet) has me rethinking my class choice in case I only stick with the game for the short term. Can’t wait for the rest of your uploads (eagerly anticipating the Support class video). I have a big group of first time EQ2 players that will be joining me and I will be letting all of them know about these videos. Thanks.
Awesome! Thanks so much for watching! Support is up next! Writing the script for that now and should be filming in the next couple of days. Please feel free to ping me in game -- I'm going to be playing a lot with a friend to show them the ropes early, but I'll be always LFG!
I don't find alot of guides for eq2. I really appreciate this video it helped big time. I just started playing varsoon with my mom and brother. My brother is a berserker, my mom an inquisitor, and I a paladin. We're really enjoying it! 😁
@@bear.necessities oh wow that's cool to hear! My family and I don't play that often so we're probably mostly going to do dungeons and quest for fun but that's great to hear, just in case of the possibility ☺️
Thanks. Just started playing; I'm an old EQ1 player. I'm enjoying the content so far! I rolled a paladin. Your guide is very informative. I don't really plan to raid, but I do plan on doing some group content. Sounds like I made a solid choice.
Awesome breakdown! Very informative. appreciate all the time you put into it. Just a heads up- Berserkers don't get Open Wounds until Desert of Flames (you said it was the "later 40s", but it's 58); worth calling out only because it's such a huge source of AOE damage & threat for zerkers, so new players should keep in mind you won't have access to it for the first four months.
I am planning a video going into calculating rotations. I'd like to make it more general for everyone, but maybe tanks need their own video since they are a special case.
Hey! Great video. What do you think is the best tank to solo? I often find myself without a group and with only an hour to play at a time. Rather than give up on tanks, do you reckon there is one that is OK to solo?
All of the tanks can do all of the solo quests for each zone just fine, but in terms of dps and killing things quickly, I'd recommend SK or Zerker! Thanks for watching
SK is best solo tank. Damage for days, self heals, reactive heal dmg buffs, dots, aoe, feign death or evac for gtfo...yeah, you cant go wrong as a solo sk
I would encourage people are new to EQ2 NOT to pick a tank as their first toon. Tanks in the vast majority of groups are generally expected to be familiar with zones and strategies for those zones. If you play another alt class you can go through these zones and watch how tanks apply various strats. Tanking is about 3 times as much work as playing most other classes. You need to manage the group, know the zone, know how to pull, know how to play your character, know how to train, and understand how to work with various other classes. If you are a noob people might become impatient as you figure things out and get them repeatedly killed. Another important skill is dynamically adjusting your play to the abilities to the group you have. If you have an inexperienced pickup group in crap armor, you may need to pull mobs conservatively. If you have a geared and experienced group you may be able to do room pulls. It is generally up to the tank to set the pace for engaging mobs. If you have a guild that will take the time to actually train you to tank well, that is the best. Tanks can be very fun to play, but IMO it best to learn the ropes initially with another type of toon.
This will be the most populated server by far, but in terms of total population it will still be lower than most games. In all reality, I expect maybe the servers to cap out at around 1k? I think the game is playable and you can find a guild and groups probably with a stable 500 person server. All opinion and speculation though, so take with a grain of salt.
Bro I'm so happy you're making EQ2 content but you should really look into vocal training to find your "real voice". It sounds lile you're forcing your voice into a lower register (out of habit) and it makes you sound really breathy and difficult to understand.
Im sorry but are you gonna do anything besides read straight from the spell icon ? the ppl playing can do that , how about suggestions on a nice cast order and when you would use these abilities ?? i mean honestly any player can read the icon for their self . This was a nice time kill but useless video
Finish and maintain this series of videos; these are by far the best introductory EQ2 content on TH-cam if not the internet
Will do! I have support video coming tomorrow!

Awesome! Glad you like it
This is my new favorite channel on TH-cam lol
Thanks so much!
Awesome video! thank you

Awesome! Paladins are very strong on this server. Disregard my messaging about them on raids. They are main tanking most raid groups!

I was also curious about some offensive stats for fighters, would crit and multi attack be good for a paladin?
@@cvbn.j2176 - Crit/AB Mod/Multi are all good!

You are totally correct. I for some reason read Open Wounds as lvl 48, not 58. Thanks for the correction!
Thanks for the video. Good info here
No problem!
Great video, thank you!
Thanks for the comment!
I know this is a very old video, but I'm curious, what was the draw for the Varsoon TLE? Was that a popular past expansion for EQ2 fans?
How do you feel about doing a part 2 of this where you go through tank rotations & pulls? I think that'd help a lot of us.
Or maybe even can you rank them in terms of solo-ability? I’d like to play a zerker but maybe they suck to solo?
All of the tanks can do all of the solo quests for each zone just fine, but in terms of dps and killing things quickly, I'd recommend SK or Zerker! Thanks for watching

Are DPS berserkers a thing? Not really into tanking but always loved the EQ1 Zerker.
They can do quite a bit of dps - on the same level as probably monks and shadow knights. But they are still primarily tanks - not dps.

Are you going to do scout classes as well?
Yep! Bards and Enchanters (Support) are up next, then Scouts, then Mage DPS
What’s the best dps?
For a tank - it's SK, Monk, and Zerker
@@bear.necessities thank you, do you have any content coming on best overall heals and dps?
What is a steroid buff
Steroid buffs are essentially just something that makes you stronger in some way for a limited amount of time
What do you expect the server population to be? I heard this game was close to totally dead.

@@bear.necessities makes sense. I play p99 and it's around 700-1k.
If my potato laptop runs EQ2 I'll give it a shot

Ha - yeah this was my first video on here - things have gotten a bit more polished over the years
I almost deleted my paladin after hearing they're not considered as main tank options. That hurt...lol. Man.
Ha! No, they aren't bad at all in T5, and they are great at group tanks.
Pally is pretty solid in this era.

Ha! thanks for the feedback. My earlier videos were definitely long in the tooth and more off-the-cuff. My newer videos aren't like that.
Wow dude
stay at wow ... stay at ff14 .... stay away from dbg .... shady stuff there.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion!
