    I usually sneak into Freeport and get Stamper. I love that rodent and he's an effective little tank.

    would be nice if you could make a follow-up on how to develop the merc. Especially, i dont understand how to find 5 of the same Mercs of one season, whta the implication and how to spot the right ones. if you may.

    Thanks Ren! Im finally taking the plunge and trying to play the game a bit more seriously and this will be useful….whenever I am able to leave Faydark lol

      There's actually a Warden merc in Greater Faydark (Kelethin) if I'm not mistaken. I briefly mention it in the video. But also, you can use the global portal from level one right there in Kelethin to get to Qeynos, grab your merc, and then come back the same way, just like I do in the video from the Frostfang Sea and back again!

    Just getting back into EQ2. I'm a guardian and just use 2 swords in offensive stance with a Warden Merc. Working out so far at lvl 95.

    There's a Warden and a Conjurer in New Halas. My one toon hired a merc at around level 15, and so far he's so OP I'm facerolling content and not even learning my character or its rotation. I'm thinking of switching to a healing merc so I can at least work on and learn a spell rotation.

    Does soloing with a mercenary allow you to feel the difference in each class your playing? Or is the mercenary so strong that it’s basically just killing the content while your hanging out?

    • @Renfail
      @Renfail  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You have to choose their spec. Tank/heals/dps. No, they are never more than support. You die if you don't act.

    There are mercs in other areas not just the main cities

    • @Renfail
      @Renfail  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yep. mentioned in the video. This is the beginner's guide which starts with the ones in the cities. A more advanced guide would cover the additional mercs.

    Hey Ren, looking for some advice. I played years ago, have a level 100 fury on halls of fate (I'm not even sure what the cap is now). I've clearly missed the window for any TLE server. Is it worth picking the game back up right now? If so, what class/classes would you recommend that's not a fury or warden. Those are my highest level toons. So something different. I've considered LOTRO as well, but I never really played that, and even with a monthly sub, the inventory seems crazy restrictive. Without dropping a bunch of cash anyway. Thanks! and great video.

    • @Renfail
      @Renfail  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Either way, you'll be playing solo, just so you are aware. And yes, the inventory in the early stages of LOTRO can be restrictive, but the LOTRO points are easy enough to earn to expand the inventory, and you can earn them through gameplay if you don't want to spend the cash or VIP/Subscribe.
      Is EQ2 worth picking up? That just depends on what you want out of it. If you want something to feel nostalgic about while playing solo with a mercenary on a legacy server like I'm doing with my ranger, then yeah, it's hella fun. If you want to raid and get groups and the like, that's a different beast, and may be harder on legacy servers given that people at the cap will want your toon to be maxed out levels and AA and specialty gear and the like.
      If I had to pick between the two, I would HIGHLY recommend LOTRO. The free to play game gets you to level 95 and all the way to Helm's Deep, which is like YEARS of content, and if the only limitation is a few inventory slots that you can earn through gameplay (or spend a few bucks on to expand)....that's a small price to pay IMO for what is a MUCH better game than EQ2, even though I enjoy EQ2 =P

    • @Renfail
      @Renfail  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do it from the character panel (your personal character panel, and there on the left are all the options, including the mercenary window option)

    How do you tell what quality each are? is a free merc extremely worse than ones in the creates? it's super confusing to tell what quality they are

    • @Renfail
      @Renfail  ปีที่แล้ว

      If I'm not mistaken they give better reaction times to the higher tier mercs, plus they have more hitpoints, more armor, more mana, etc.

  • @elvoria

    What if I have 2 mercenaries and I want to choose the one that I want to summon? How do I do that? I cant figure that one out.

    • @Renfail
      @Renfail  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you hit C to bring up your character panel, look for the Mercenary tab. You will then see all available mercenaries if you have more than one. However, the ability to switch them in the field (choose between more than one) requires you to spend Daybreak coins; otherwise, you need to go back to where you hired them in the first place and choose the one you want to actively use.

    • @elvoria
      @elvoria ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Renfail I see. Now I know how I cant select my other merc in the middle of a dungeon. Thanks for enlighten me.

    • @Renfail
      @Renfail  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@elvoria Yep. If you want to do it on the fly (in the middle of a dungeon, as an example), you have to purchase that ability from the Daybreak store with coins. And if I recall (it's been awhile), it's per mercenary, so as you find more mercs you'll have to unlock them individually if you want to switch between 3 or 4 or 5 etc.

      Only on the live servers, or progression servers that have progressed to the expansions during which mercs were available. So NOT on TLE servers to start.

    i feel like merc ruin the game. You are supposed to group

    • @Renfail
      @Renfail  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      No, that hasn't been the standard for more than 20 years. You haven't been required to group since the early days of EverQuest 1. You need to modernize your internal programming to get with the 21st century.
