- Fun little video experiment I decided would be fun to do, where I got someone that knew absolutely nothing about Celeste and showed them some of the hardest room clears then asked them to try and rank them in order of difficulty. I saw some geometry dash people create similar videos and thought it would be interesting to do for Celeste especially considering how deceiving some of the hardest rooms like 2k-3 seem. It definitely was interesting to do and some pretty surprising stuff happened so hope you enjoy !

This is a great video concept, I think it would also be cool to see a casual celeste player (who has only beaten 7a or something) or someone who has played the game but doesn't know about any of the crazy mechanics like superdashes or subpixels try to guess which rooms are the hardest to see how much better they could do :)
I’d guess they won’t do much better. I myself am a casual player who started playing a week ago. 24 hours of play time and trying to beat b sides for unlocking the gate in chapter 9. I followed along the video and my guesses and thinking process were pretty much the same as shown in the video (except for 2k-3, as I had watched parrot’s video before).
Idk how much of a casual player I am having beaten 7d, but all of those screens apart from infamous 2k-3 were still pure guesses for me

This went exactly as I thought it would, and I’m glad because that made great content. I would love to see this get expanded on in the Celeste community, and watch more people get trolled by how hard gv maps are.

I expected this to be basegame screens, half of these modded screens are impossible for me to parse as well and I have played Celeste including C-Sides + Farewell.
Was still fun to watch, but seemed pretty stacked against the guesser.

Commenting at 16:09 , I am a celeste player but am yet to get much farther than advanced lobby in the spring collab and i didnt know any of these maps except 2k-3. My ranking most to least difficult would be 7 1 8 4 9 6 10 2 5 3. Time to see how wrong i am.

Clip 8 is geometry dash limbo in a nutshell key maze when
I clicked on this video expecting screens from the base game. I was wrong.
I imagine a lot of the lower-ranking screens are really learny, but once you figure out how they work, they get a lot easier. The one with all the moving objects is probably at the top of these ones because of the moving objects. Chapter 3 is dumb.
The #2 level looks hard because of how long it is. (Not that #6 looks easy - the short length seems like it would allow for far more precise timings without it being flat-out impossible.) Having to do all those advanced techniques with the addition of nerve control looks really hard.
4 looks puzzly in some places, but not too bad (i played gravity helper mini collab), 3 is easy and simple (i have played darkmoon ruins, almost got to that room),
in 5 most of the slower parts are a little confusing, and all of the fast fast are dirt simple (excluding the part with lots of at jellyfish at once, its a little confusing too) (played ultra skool)
i could probly play 10 with savestates after seeing that clip once (with 0.25 video playback speed and pausing ofc), it just seems like "go to the closest thing that allows you to get booster retention in an obvious way, and then to the next, until you win" (played retention tech gym, which is basically the tutorial for that map)
there is a chance im wrong about all of them, the one im most confident about is 3

Super cool video idea! If you do more of this, I would recommend judging the guesses based on something a little more complex than just number correct. For example, the average error of each guess would be a good metric
Also, it's pretty fun to "play along" as a viewer. I only got two exactly correct, but my only errors were switching the easiest maps around and massively overrating the difficulty of the bubble retention tech clip, #10.

i you are wondering whats the average error of of mae, its 3, and if they were judging by what you proposed on equal terms, she would win (the maximum average error is 7), and if she would get 5 correct but every other with maximum off, her average score would be 3.5, which would have lost her the average comparison
the most off she could be while still winning both games is
3.4 and the minimum off the she could be while still only barely winning the correctness comparison would be 0.5.
she could lose the correctness comparison even if her average guess offness would be 0.6.
relative to your proposal, the game is stacked against mae:
in average, she would all of the games she would in correctness (exept the singular one in which would guess 5 correct and all of the other as incorrect as possible),

well if they were actually able to rank them it would make for a kinda boring video though wouldnt it, the point was to show that very flashy looking gameplay does not always equal how hard it is as simple things can also be very hard, and also just the fact its impossible to judge somethings difficulty from just watching it in general
