- Celeste is a challenging indie platformer, with the world record speedruns breaking the game. But many people instead go for golden berries, a collectable that requires you to beat an entire map deathless.
The hardest in the vanilla game is the Farewell golden berry, but this golden has a special secret at the end: a golden room
This video discusses how these golden rooms are used in harder and easier mods (such as Strawberry Jam, D-sides) and the many types of them + my opinions too!

fr, we just need more youtube content imo. I’ve honestly been thinking of making like tutorials and stuff for tech or maybe hard rooms but i lack video editing skills and time/energy lol

Damn you really did your research lmao. Great watch. So many golden rooms I didnt know about, and I definitely did not expect to see rush+ golden room on there.
fun fact, I toyed with the idea of a golden room in cosmic column c-side, but ultimately ended up scrapping it because the ending was already pretty climactic and there wasn't really a good reason why there should be a golden room. While messing with ideas, I did make a very silly room that still exists in the debug map though (which was definitely too harsh for a golden room but I decided it was funny so kept it)
I feel at least partially called out by some of these points, somehow i have managed to create all three types of gooms, Move Swap temple (You Can Say This One Is Unsightreadable but i recently changed it to be, not awful), Glitch (a golden room for the sake of a golden room, i made this one because i wanted to give my viewers watching me do the golden a heart attack, its a pretty bad room but i'm really happy with how it ends) Predator Pineway (This map hasnt released yet but it has a congratulations golden room) oh yeah how could i forget [REDACTED] has [REDACTED]
But yeah great video am gonna sub because you make good celeste modding documentries and stuff
also btw pretty sure solaris does do something non goom if you have the golden, dont all the cutscenes dissapear, but also the "is that fire" dialog becomes ... right?
oh yeah i completely forgot about those solaris changes, i shouldve included but it didnt feel relevant enough

7:05 NO WAY I’M FAMOUS! Jokes aside, this was a good video. I’m also curious how golden rooms would be different if Farewell hadn’t introduced them. As for Open Sea, it gives you a bino at the start of the silver room so you can analyze the room when you get there, but the room does feel a bit difficult to execute on a first attempt. Since the map is so short though, it’s a nice additional challenge and is funny.

I've only made one map, but I like to make a hard room behind the start of the map that holds the golden berry; So you have to do a challenge room before starting attempts. (It gives a re-spawn, so you only have to clear the gold room once, for any number of concurrent attempts.) It has some drawbacks, but is also a great way to implement a room that would otherwise be a bit to hard for a normal strawberry.
I haven’t even golded Farewell yet but seeing the golden room awakes a sense of deep anxiety 😅

9D actually technically has this in its platinum run. After reuni, there is usually a mandatory death-warp to start PONR (the start of the map’s recon section) but when you have a platinum there’s a block placed that allows you to skip it, pretty neat

I remember Arphimigon's 6D forcing you through the badeline fight sequence if you have the golden, which is otherwise a part that's entirely optional. When Arphi added that forced route, the wall blocking you from the easy path was skippable though, making that golden much easier than it was supposed to be. It was quickly patched though :D

IF i make a map wIth a gold room, im going to make it optional, and have a three path way thing, one for credits, one for the heart, and one for the gold room (and yes im going to label them)

I wonder how many joke golden rooms are built off the premise of "no one would be dumb enough to golden this map."
There's a golden of tower lxvi, every map maker knows that shit is getting golden if the map is good enough.
@@xomvoid_akaluchiru_987 you say that but i've made maps under the assumption that no one would golden them. atm i have a wip map where death warping is part of the intended pathway. so.. that one's not getting goldened lmao.
@@snolls105 death warping is part of double moon berry golden, it doesn't lose the golden strawberry. I haven't done any level editing but I'm sure you can ask someone how to add it :)
@@xomvoid_akaluchiru_987 nah, the map has other shit going on that also breaks goldens that would also be too much of an issue. alongside that, plus the death warping is, like, very frequent. like roughly once every other room has something going on that would cause technical difficulties for golden berry. so, not really worth the effort for a map where only a handful of people would be insane enough to consider attempting if even. (shrugs)

someone died in essentially the final few seconds of the golden run *and then asked me to add a 30 minute golden room* 😭
