I had the privilege ( Jason Bell ) to race this V8 motorcycle at the Geelong speed trial many years ago, I feel honored these days to have had that opportunity/experience, Thank You Ian
Woow😳
That V8 would make for an absolutely insane go-kart.
I was thinking of some kid putting it in a kei car(t)
That is impressive- a four wheel drive two-wheeled bike lol
Ian's a great bloke. I've known him since the late eighties. A good country lad who loves challenging conventional engineering ideas. Back in the day his favourite bike was a CX650. Alan Cathcart test rode the 750 and loved it
Millyards favourite was CX turbo.
I worked with Ian for about 5 years after he built the first few bikes although I never worked on them. There was quite often one around the workshop
Would really love to see Ian and Allen Millyard get together on a project
Yep love how Allen makes his engine s with normal old tools and a barbecue as a heating and driying 😂 every bike needs a couple extra cillider s😅
Great idea 💡 👍
Something in the water over there. You guys do batshit crazy very well. Burt would approve
But only if your leg gets almost burned from the exhaust 💪🤪
So glad I found this channel, keep up the good work!
The Hydraulic drive/two wheel drive/steering... Almost exactly what i have drawn up in a old 1983 general note book from my middle school.
I remember these back in the day in AMCN. Very cool.
met ian a couple of years ago through my best mate. top bloke and a living legend. i gotta admit i was a little in awe. he also designed the 3 wheel electric postie bikes aussie post are punting around on nowdays/
The 3 wheeler is a Swiss import (KYBURZ) - or did Ian's partnership company (Stealth Special Vehicles) design it and have the Swiss make it under licence? I think it is 100% Swiss which is a 100% fail by Australia Post and the Commonwealth if an Australian equivalent is available and was not chosen.
@@fatso8437 Ian's trike was in competition with the Swiss model. Australia post was doing a test program with them. I don't know if it's completed yet or the outcome as I am in the UK and haven't spoken with Ian for a while. I did the promo renderings for it when he was chasing funds.
Brilliant production!
🇦🇺💙🤜🏼🤛🏼☮️😎🍀
Can we PLEASE, please please please…introduce Mr Drysdale to Mr Eric Buell?!? My God, it would be the resurrection of Britten! Wake up people- “introduce these geniuses!
Eric Buell has an engine. The one they developed and built by Rotax.
Buel is doing ev bikes called Fuel, and other people are doing Buel the company without him.
Some people are just iffy to work with. Having your baby redesigned due to regulations etc would not work. If buell really wanted v8s then he would have sourced info on this v8
Erik, with a K.
Erik is a prophet of engineering and innovation. However, he's no businessman. If he learned to be more aware of the consumer market and his competitors' business model, he could do great things.
Two wheel drive would seem more realistic these days with electric motors ? Another of the Great Australian motorcycle engineers was Rex Patterson Tilbrook, who made racing motorbikes as well as Iconic sidecars and parts for British bikes in the 50s. I grew up hanging out at his factory workshop before getting my first bike at 13 and getting Rex's help with its Villiers motor ! He remained a good friend for the rest of his life, passing away in 1997, at 82 years. He's worth a Google search !
I would like to ride one of these V8's. What an experience.... doubt I'll ever own one but you never know....
We would love one but could never afford to buy it😅
Superb.
Need Norton to make a new rotary bike and if possible turbo it or even better a 2 rotary engine + turbo 😂 please 🙏
What a guy. Never heard about him until now. He could have been the Koenigseg in motorcycles.
Burt was a New Zealander mate!
So was John Britton
Thats why he said "Australia and New Zealand" at the start of the video.
@@charlescraig8994Down under is Down under ❤
Dear God this is SICK, we love it
I am an Australian live in Australia and have never heard of this motorcycle and rode motorcycles in the 1970s and 1980s but now l know about it obviously this motorcycle comes from Victoria and l live in N.S.W but a V8 motorcycle made in Australia now l know they exist learn something new every day and l am 69 years old
🤝
The hydraulic drive bike is for sale on Just Bikes. I remember Robbo’s world tonight did a feature on it.
I think I still have it on vhs👍
I’d love to meet him, I think he was from the Yarra Valley👍
@@gareth5000 By the 1990s l did a bit of interest in motorcycles and through you tube l do look at channels on motorcycles also have agreat interest in motor vehicles and through you tube and Google l have found a lot about my 1997 Toyota Hilux just what a very well built reliable vehicle it is and also its value worth much more than what l bought 4 years ago also a lot of interesting vehicles
The yellow one is in the Launceston motor museum.
How does one go about constructing a four wheeled drive motorcycle?
Wouldn't that be a car or a quad?
I call it “Bitebike” Simply lost that…
I remember reading about this bike in a motorcycle magazine during the mid 1990’s. It’s a shame he never sold enough of them.
AWESOME" WORK!
👏👏👏👏Genius
Awesome and very unique channel... like this is very niche.. awesome!
Good Video
OMG… two episodes &
Subscription done….!
That was inspiring….I’ve owned a CB 750 & forever have been bastardising it into the Ultimate Cafe Racer inspired Mad Max type of Beast “The Goose” would’ve killed an innocent to Ride… Lush Motor has been 👀
No more thought, time to Complete this…👍
Great chennel great content
So much word salad so litle engine sound :/
Kool
Both V8 projects, Morbidelli & Drysdale got me really excited back in the day but only today i realised that there was a big difference as one engine was Longitudinal while the other Transverse. Didn't have much idea back in the day.
With the introduction of the Kawasaki ZX4RR i get an idea that someone could turn them into V8.
Regarding your channel, you're doing great job but i have one issue, using clickbait titles for them is cheapening your brand.
Do the men you are talking about an honour and name them properly.
People like Ian Drysdale should be remembered not only like "one guy in Australia who built V8 engine.
plus a v8 in a bike is just to cumbersome to be practical
Have you seen the rear shock working with pull roads under the swingarm? Same solution that vins motorcycle adopted few years ago
Put this engine in a wide body shifter cart and hit the streets ..
🔥😎
I've always thought they'd make a for a bitchin Caterham
You can buy a twin busa engine 😊
@@user-wh2te2kn7l At $45k USD, they're pretty damned steep... I think that works out to something like $1.5m in Australian dollarydoos.
It's DRIES DALE FFS !!
Australians will put v8s in anything
I was today old learning this..
Subscribed and like mate.
All the way from beautiful Tasmania Australia 🦘🇦🇺✅❤️🛵🏍️🛵🏍️🛵🏍️🛵🏍️🛵🏍️

That honda oval piston is something else
That and the f1 rotary Norton is still better than any new bike 😢
I confess I want one. 😅
2x2x2 Yep, this gentleman is a genius and Shell Oil obviously agreed hence the sponsorship.
Jeezus.. She's a proper aul gather up....
Hmm a 4wd 2 wheel motorcycle? Hmmm something’s not right
A maico powered 250 two stroke stroke that loses steering when not running? Scary but mega cool 😅
I'd love to stick that v8 in my mr2 spyder
Quote: '...undertaking in the realm of TWO WHEEL technology involved constructing a FOUR WHEEL DRIVE off road MOTORCYCLE...'
interesting 😆
@11:42 You might wanna do a retake on that bud 😏
I like the song 😂❤ who is it? great vid❤😊
The yellow v8 is in the Launceston Auto Museum.
You forgot to mention Bsl New Zealand the first company to Make a laser printed formular bike :)
Never heard of those guys.
Quite a few of the Britten team Loren Poole amongst them an ex britten rider@@Iamwolf134
ஏன் இந்தியாவுக்கு இது வார வில்லை உண்மையில் இது சிறந்த தயாரிப்பு ❤
i like its fairings design looks racing bike nor naked bike
There’s a reason these power plants never took off, along with the oval shaped Honda pistons. Kudos to those that attempt change.
Yea noone can afford them.
The local bike shop has a still brand new two wheel drive Yamaha WR. I think it's a 450.
Covered in dust but only about twenty kilometres on it.
Where is this?
Super cool motor, but it looks like a bathtub on roller skates going around corners.
4 wheel drive bike? LOL Riiiight!
after the lotto win!
it's a bit late for the hydraulic tech or even any combustion motor when electric is becoming more accessible... sure these other methods may work but many moving parts means many more problems... like the hydraulic system, electric can also be used for braking.
"Yan Drizzdale" ... 🙄😂
hilarious 😆
This bike is in The National Automobile Museum in Launceston, Tasmania.
meanwhile at NSU 2000 cc 1 cylinder. Der Bison..
"four wheel drive motorcycle"
Many people love your content but hate your music.
I'd love your channel to grow and hope you reconsider.
The music doesn't improve the videos for anyone else but you.
The like/dislike ratio sad that it’s OK.
@@wierdbike OK, just trying to help you grow your channel 👍 ☺
@@wierdbike the like/dislike ratio doesn't question the particular elements of your video.
Thanks bro. Im just like doing videos like that…)
@@wierdbike It's your channel, you should do what you think is best ☺
Don’t forget Rod Hunwick and Paul Hallam.
Soon🤝
No, Australia did not give you John Britten or Burt Monroe. NEW ZEALAND did.
The bike is interesting. The narration need a revew before be published
Re: "Ian" : AI voiceover?. Interesting video though 👍...Edit: those audio artifacts around 3:20 - and 8:50 mate the timestretch is pretty pronounced - honestly, modifying the video would be smoother the artifacts in audio are unmissable. is the whole thing (script and voice-over) AI? Script flourishes sound kinda GPT... Apologies if I'm calling you an Open AI product 😂 from your accent I'd assume *not* AI, but you never know nowadays ...just curious, not dissing .
If do the audio “by my own hands” you wouldn’t watch this, sorry… Ive already done this and the result was close to
0. Maybe one day i get better narration and english as well. Thank you, anyway🤝
Whole video is my own job with materials. Even the voice - it’s really mine, just translated with… you know;)
Voiceover is woeful.
English is obviously not your native language mate.
Interesting video apart from the jarring language errors.
would it be possible not to use a choppy and laggy tts ty
Never heard of Phil Irving and the Vincent HRD? Or the Brabham/Repco V8, that beat EVERY factory team twice in F1 to win 2 World Championships. So much for the first Honda V12 F1........
Ol' Black Jack Brabham's V8 was based on the Rover 3.5 litre V8 block, destroked to 3 litre. Phil Irving designed the SOHC cylinder heads. Amazing that it could beat the Ferrari team with a less powerful engine. Something to do with more consistent reliability?
Vincent and brabham both big companies not guys in a shed at home. Your missing the point any corporation can build a super car we're talking shoestring budget at home.
It's like comparing apples to I would say oranges but more like fish.
Umm, they were just small concerns, built in sheds at home...but nice try.@@leonmusk1040
Indeed, it was based on the Oldsmobile Alloy V8, also used by Rover, but Much modified. Not bad for a backyard mob from the antipodes. @@elroyfudbucker6806
Hi just to help your English it is pronounced drys-dale dry as in not wet.hi from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Also how did mr Drisdale make a 4 wheel drive motorcycle with 2 wheels ? AI blather again😂. Also from NZ.
@@stephengibbs4372Right. It's 2wd.
Hi if you read his channel biography it says he is Ukrainian and has been learning English with difficulties recently so not sure if it is ai .but yea i picked up on the 4wd thing too.
@@stephengibbs4372 'he' also pronounced Ian a different way each time, and I don't think he ever pronounced it correctly.
Yah, lost that, sorry guys(

4 wheel drive motorcycle?
This thing messes with my brain. Im off work sick, so I genuinely don't know if that is as mental as it looks to me right now.
4 wheel drive motorcycle! 2x2x2 . Ok
You are from India right?
NEW ZEALAND does it again!! ...a new first; the ENGRICH
Lookup Boss Hoss all cycles run V8
A four wheel drive motorcycle?
Wonder where these bikes are now ?
Very cool. J Leno 😅
0:33 name song?
Is it Yan or Ian?
Ian
It's Dry-sdale There is NO I and no I is used in the pronunciation
lol. Pretty sure this is an ai produced video using an accent. Some of the wording just makes no sense
I think production has ceased, he plays with radial aircraft motors in his spare time near Springvale in Melbourne.
An investor backing would needed to restart production.
Drysdale not drizdale, how do you say dry?
And Ian not Yan.
Is putting words in caps some new thing?
I’m sorry, who is “Yan Dreesdale”?
You have some weird pronunciation going on there mate - IAN is generally spoken like EAN and not JAN or YAN. Drysdale is also said like DRIES DALE and not DRISS DALE.
How could he construct a four wheel drive 2 wheel,'d motorcycle?
It's Dry-S-Dale, not DrisDale, ta
eeee annn
It would be interesting if the narration weren't stupid. Luckily it became obvious that it wasn't worth watching before hitting the 2 minute mark.
"Yan Drizdale" - NO!
"Ee-an Dries-dale" - YES!
I’m just going to assume you misspelled your channel name on purpose, lol.
4WD motorcycle - I think not 😅
his name is ian drysdale not jan drizzdell
Yeah, my bad..
dont tell me you slowed the video down to get past 10 minutes
how do you make speaking sound painful?
English is not his first language, this is a text to voice bot. AI still seems to screw up narration in an agonising manner
You are say the name wrong... "E-in". Not "EYe E-IN"
The Ai you used for this script is really odd.
Ian, Jan, Yan
Drysdale, Draydale, Drasdale.
Consistent NOT. 😂
Bad idea.
