    I love my 2014 GCL until 104,997 miles. The infamous lifter tick started; I was warned that the 3.6 Penastar is famous for the lifter ticking. Well, in the end I had to replace the drivers exhaust & passenger intake cams. Along with 24 rockers and 24 lifters. For a grand total of $2,400. Full synthetic 5/20 oil and filter every 3-3.5k miles. The budget planning Ben was talking about DO IT! I never dreamed the way I took care of my Jeep that would happen. Aside from that, I do love my Jeep GCL.

    I own an Overland and I can tell you that it is a better buy than the Limited with the Luxury group 2 package. The Overland will get you some more features that you couldn’t get on a loaded up Limited; such as Quadra-lift air suspension, power folding mirrors, wood on steering wheel, nicer leather. And it would still cost about the same even with the extra features. High Altitude is another trim level worth looking at which is the Overland with the Satin black trim and satin black wheels and a few features from the Summit.

    This is a very cursory overview that is missing a lot of important details about trims... No mention of a diesel engine option. Overland and Summit come with air suspension. Which is a completely different ride. You loose about 200lb of payload capacity in a summit. So if you tow you are better of with overland or limited. Air suspension will automatically trim. On limited and below you would need to buy self leveling shocks. Get a tow package if you tow. Car will not only come with a proper hitch but you will also get a bigger radiator, brakes and alternator and a full size spare. Adaptive cruise control is an important feature that comes standard in summit but is optional in limited and overland. Also hid head lights with lenses along with some additional tech features come standard in overland and summit, but you'll get regular hollogen lights(which are not that great) in loredo, trailhawk and limited unless you buy a tech package. And the list goes on. I have not heard about a single common issues which exist and there have been recalls. BTW you can buy a life time unlimited miles warranty if your car is 4 years or younger and has under 48k miles. Shop around prices very by a lot. Great car though. Love my summit.

    Here in Europe the only engine that's practical to run is the 3.0 diesel which may not be too exciting to drive but is great for towing and for economy. Personally I never buy new cars and let some other sucker take that massive hit in depreciation over the first few years - and as a result I avoid air suspension. I have ALWAYS had issues with air suspension on Range Rovers and Mercedes so now avoid it - so really I'm limited to the Limited (pun intended), but that's got plenty of equipment for me. I avoid glass sunroofs too - after all, I want a truck to be a working vehicle so I'll be strapping sheets of 8' x 4' and lengths of 2" x 4" to the roof so I'll stick to a metal roof that I can stand on, thanks :)

      Jonathan Moosey totally agree! I own a 2016 JGC Overland, Trail Rated that I have currently in Europe; I shipped it from the States and do serious, but not extreme, off-roading in Greece and Italy; terrific performance. Great car, no issues or problems whatsoever! Thankfully as the warranty is US-based and, hence, not applicable in Europe.
      I also own a 2020 Trailhawk. Off-roading in the States. Have not put it through the paces, though, as I spend half of my time in Europe ( this year July1st to October 30th) and only had it for about forty days before I parked it for the duration; that one stays in the States, in Georgia, exclusively. The Far West beckons me to discover its trails...starting in November.

  • @sonomafred

    Not all the same transmission: diesels and Hemis use a heavier duty variant. Beware of Ecodiesel models; mine (2015 Overland) has had several recalls to date: crankshaft sensor, which they've not figured out how to fix yet; EGR coolant line defective; Turbo coolant line, which starts to leak and needs replacement; active restraint headrests that can punch you in the back of the head at anytime; firmware updates to correct emissions cheating condition, which negatively affects power and economy. I'm working with Fiat/Chrysler to have them buy the vehicle back as it would be immoral to sell this piece of junk to anyone.

      Trailhawk and Overland. They are the best 2 that come with the Hemi V8 or the Upland Special Edition with the V6 Pentastar. The Upland has Tow Hooks front and rear A/T tires like the Trailhawk. The Limited can be built with the Off-road adventure group package. All of these are excellent choices. The Summit is not really the off-roadish model in the GC WK2 platform. My wife and I own a 2020 Trailhawk with the V6. We love it.

      Anthony M not quite so! They do have some limited off-roading ability thanks to the 4x4. But for some serious off-road performance they have to be "Trail Rated" certified first; that's why they have that little emblem, attesting to this fact, on the side.

    • @ericpigg2689
      @ericpigg2689 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they do. I would rather have a higher mileage vehicle that I knew had proper maintenance vs. a low mileage one that had been abused, however, miles matter. Things wear out just simply from friction. Engine components like cams and lifters, clutch friction surfaces, torque converters. I typically buy high mileage vehicle because one I can fix most issues that arise myself, and two, the money I save up front will take care of a major repair or two if needed.

      Bought my wife a JGC 2017 altitude brand new in Jan 2017, it has literally never had one single problem.. Only had 2 sets of tires and 1 set of brakes, now has 181,000miles, as she drives approx 93mi a day to and from work.. It is a few weeks from 7yrs old and never been in the shop one single time..

      Nick West you tell him, mate! I own a 2016 JGC Overland Trail Rated that I have put through its paces off-roading in Italy and Greece to trails and places that even goats don't go! I have never had any issues or problem with anything on it!!!
      This guy truly knows nothing about nothing! Let him rant! 😂

      Talk more about problematic issues with a hemi. I can tell you are favoring the hemi as a good buy bc it's your personal liking. Be more explanatory on everything and don't include your personal opinion or show your favoritism toward any of them. I can tell that you covered more on the problematic vehicles which is understandable but cover on everything such as good vs bad vs what goes wrong with vehicles first and typically last not just the ones that are the most problematic. Then at end of video talk about your favorite one or include it if you want. If you're going to educate educate all of them equivalently this video is good but as a learner I feel like I was juked out of learning certain things bc u included your personal opinion. I can tell you buy and sell cars. And can tell ur trying to get ppl to buy something with a hemi in it. Give buyer or learner what they want not what you think they need. Educate others show your intelligence you're making yourself look ignorant by not expanding information on everything and by making yourself look ignorant and pissing people off so you're getting less buys if you are a car salesman. I do not mean any of this in an offensive way nor am I trying to be rude just being blind honest and trying to give feedback like you asked. Best of luck to you!
