  • If someone were to offer a cheap, plug and play, scale-size flashing signal, they would fill a huge void in the market, and probably make a few dollars, right?
💲Flashing Crossing Signals Cost Breakdown and Links -
    🔷Circuit $21.00 including shipping - eastcoastcircuits.com/Circuits
🔷12 volt Power Supply $12.99 (free shipping with Amazon Prime) - amzn.to/3RAOUPQ - SHOW WIRE TERMINALS
🔷Walthers Crossing Flashers (2-pack) 949-4333 $31.98 plus shipping from Walthers, maybe cheaper elsewhere.

Great video and tutorial! Thanks for the shout out. A friend of mine told me about that wire trick. Helps big time. Love the scene, well done!

Thanks Mark! And thanks for the wiring tip! They're still holding on by a thread (literally😂) If and when they come apart, I'll know what to do. Take care - Bill

Just caught your video. Exactly what I was trying to do. Ordered the board and signals. Great job.

Hi Mike! I just redid my signals by soldering 20ga to the magnet wire. Took some practice but worked great! Take care - Bill.

Thank you the video. However, the scenic details (weathering) is what I mostly took away.

Nice signals, but honestly, you don't need a switch to control the lights. You really need 2 IR sensors on each end to activate on oncoming and deactivate on the last car leaving.
Love the setup. It looks great

Yup you're right. But I wanted to keep it simple and not go down the path of sensors and servo motors and working gates - but I respect those that do. Thanks for commenting - Bill.

I've built a sketch for arduino and I've added all the popular bell tones in a sound file i can use with or without gates an still have my sounds

@@MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout I don't know what "servo motors" have to do with flashing lights.

I've got crossing bucks I glued 2 red 3mm LED's and ran the wires (tiny magnet wire) down the back side of the bucks and got a flasher circuit from fleaBay. Now I need a way to turn the flasher on and off as a train approaches and leaves the crossing intersection. My flasher circuit board will run on 9 or 5 volts--I chose a 9 volt wall wart. Any ideas? I do DC only. Cheers from eastern TN

Hi Rusty. I'm no expert, but there's a couple ways to go. I took the easy way out - an on/off toggle switch connected to my circuit board. If you wanna get fancy, check out block detection. Iowa Scaled Engineering is a good reliable company. Not sure how anything will work with DC, but the Iowa guys will know. Take care - Bill.
