FAQ's
Q: Why do you have an FGLK loco with number 1995? That doesn't even make sense!
A: I know #1995 is not prototypical for FGLK. But FGLK was born in 1995. So there you go. It also sets the tone for my proto-freelance style.
Q: Why do you copy Boomer?
A: Because I want to improve my skills. And I want to show that you don't have to be an artist to get good results with his techniques.

Easy turn today for the HW2. Pick one up, and set one out. These easy jobs let me concentrate more on keeping my camera steady and in focus, instead of following my switch list. Private dining car circa 1920's. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. *Image created with AI. How I did it: I told ChatGPT to create an image of four well-dressed people in a candlelit dining car of a train in Victorian times, at night, laughing and talking and eating and drinking with a roast turkey on the table and wine bottles and glasses of wine and all the trimmings. And you can see the light...

First time weathering a locomotive 😎
มุมมอง 9372 หลายเดือนก่อน
I got a new Athearn MP15 loco and weathered it with Tamiya panel liner, the airbrush, and some Pan Pastels. I've weathered rolling stock before, but this is my first loco. I didn't have the skillset when I first got my other locos, and didn't want to mess up 2 Rapido engines, so I outsourced them. ✨ Link to Larry's Truck and Electric architecturalafterlife.com/2023/08/larrys-truck-and-electric/...

Great work Bill! Heck of nice thank you for Paul's work!
What a fantastic job, Bill! Love the work you did on it - your weathering techniques are so good! Such a nice gesture, too.
Thanks Seth, I appreciate it!
Nice job weathering bill. Looks great
Thanks Dave! I'm not as heavy-handed as I used to be lol.
See these cars at Cargill quite often.
You must be in Watkins?
I enjoyed your video weathering that hopper, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it
Very nice! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! It was fun to do.
Thanks so much again Bill! Its awesome!
Railheads. Heh heh.
Great video. Nice looking switcher. Thanks for sharing. Dave
Thanks Dave, I love this thing!
I had a similar issue, which was some invisible gunk picked up on the wheels. Once cleaned with IPA it ran like a dream. If not that, you should check the pickup wires, as they can work themselves loose.
Thanks, I'm gonna check out the pickups.
Another fantastic video, really enjoyed that session. Great idea with the collab with @FGLKPaul. Also love the new addition to your roster.
Thanks, I'm glad he thought of it!
You are having to much fun! Thanks for sharing
No such thing as too much fun lol! Thanks for commenting!
Nice ops! Great sounds too.
Thanks, I appreciate it!
bill.... i am not really sure what it is, but the first thing i would check is the wires that power your trucks. some manufacturers solder them in place, but others just connect the wire to the metal receiving post with one of those little, black, plastic caps. its possible that even the slightest vibration can cause a poor connection, causing your engine to go off and on like it is. i am prayin' for ya !!! denny
@@dennisarmes3473 I was thinking about that. You might be right. I need to do more research on it. Thanks Denny!
@@MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout 10-4 bill, and good luck !! its a basic, initial start, but that is where i would begin !! after that, i am not very good at electrical problem analysis !!!
Cool operations
Thanks man! Would be cool if there was a slot car racing the train down main street 🏎️
@ Yeah
hi billy !!! nice flick !!! isn't it fun breaking in a new engine, especially when they are lease units ?denny
Thanks Denny! I'm having a lot of fun with this switcher.
@@MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout when i saw it in the video i really was surprised !! i am slowly adding more leased units ( i call them sub-contract engines) to my layout as i have found out that when i paint out the original rr name, like ns/up/etc, i use the blue painters tape and then, bill, most importantly, i use a plastic "pencil"( made by woodland scenics...$ 5) to press firmly around the inside edges (where the paint touches the tape) to prevent leaking and it has worked very well.... got about a dozen subcontracts right now !!! i like LTEX, too ( larrys, i believe) just like yours and is a mp 1500. blessings, billy !!!! denny
Great looking switcher!
Thanks, I really like the classic look of these old locos.
I particularly like that the FLR maintained the NYC livery. 💯👍
Me too. That was a good decision.
Already looking right at home! Glad you are enjoying it!
Thanks! Yeah, it’s a great fit!
Just brilliant
Thanks man!
Great Christmas train, and nice festive feeling video. Have you seen our Dylington Christmas Special video that my grandson has made... Cheers James 😊👍
Thanks, I will check it out!
@@MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout I hope you enjoy it, we've jumped onboard to follow you 😊👍
Where you got the wheels on the truck?
It came with those wheels. I think it’s a Riverpoint Station truck.
Merry Christmas Bill.. 🎅 🎄
Thanks Pappy. Can't wait to see your layout unfold in 2025!
Merry Christmas Bill! I wish all the blessings of the season for you and your family. Thanks for all the great content. Looking forward to more in the New Year! - Chuck
Thank you sir, I will be "contenting" my way through the upcoming year. I think I just invented a word 😁
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Queensland Australia, Temperature will be around 30 degrees Celcius over here . Cold beer in the Esky already.
Merry Christmas, mate! 55º F here today, not too bad. I think Esky is an Eskimo cooler?
Nothing like Christmas in the Finger Lakes. I love this video. Merry Christmas Bill!🚂☃️🎅🌲
Thanks Mark, Merry Christmas. It's a wonderful life!☃️✨
👍😎👍 very cool video
Thanks! One of my favorites 😁
Learned, Non sanded grout and matt medium. Been using IPA and school glue. and what ever dirt I could find. I guess both work fine.
You're right on, there are so many techniques that work. Just find one that works best for you! 👍
Very cool! Merry Christmas 🎄
Thanks! It's got to be one of my favorite videos. Merry Christmas!
What a cheerful little video! Hope you got me something nice Bill. Merry Christmas and happy new year and good will to all👋
Thanks Darren, I got you an antique brass steam engine, hope it didn't get lost in the mail lol! Best wishes - Bill.
@ your best wishes will do just fine 👍
Very nice Bill, this would work well for the Kerley Express Christmas train challenge. You did a great job, merry Christmas 🎅
Oh thanks Pappy, I'll check it out. Merry Christmas!
great ruuning trains
Thank you!
Very cool Christmas train, Mr Bill. Merry Christmas. 🚂🦌🛷🎅🏼
Lots of power for a single car 😉 great ops session!
Thanks! That's how the prototype does, always 2 locos.
Ever thought of making a model of the railways that go over the glens of Seneca lake? Once I have the ability that my goal in N-Scale, such as Watkins Glen, Rock Stream Gorge, Glenora Falls, and Silver Thread Falls in Lodi. Maybe also some on the Cayuga Lake as well.
I can tell you're a native lol. I thought about modeling Big Stream gorge at one point, but decided against it. You could pull if off in N scale though. That would be really cool. Thanks for commenting!
billy... great stuff !!! just got home from church and on coffee # 1 !! i got to thinking of you yesterday as i had a bd party here for a friend and i did all the cooking... several gennies ,too !! anyway, i think i mixed too much soy sauce/vinegar/garlic juice in "my" korean wing recipe" as they had a bit of an extra kick in them, but all were scarfed-up rather quickly !! after realizing the mistake, i added a bit of homemade sauce to thicken her up a bit.... all ended well in the long run !!! btw, here is a question for you bill... does any other power do the switching on your FLR ? just wondering !! denny
Thanks Denny. I made Korean wings last night too! Funny you mention other power, I just finished editing a video where I have my new MP15 switcher consisted with one of my B23-7's, just like on the prototype. It should be coming out early January. Glad you were able to salvage your wings. Take care - Bill.
