Its so awesome watching videos from a guy who clearly loves his job! It feels like a lot of reviewers online just look and sound so burned out, but Mark truly does it for the love of the games!
I have the Xbox High Definition A/V Pack made by Microsoft themselves that I bought from the Berryessa Flea Market in San Jose, CA for $10.00 back in April 2016 (hence unlike the Mad Catz component cable for PS2/Xbox that I still have for a decade, the HD AV Pack have a digital optical slot on it).
Ive got the "xbox high definition av pack" its awesome. Has digital optical for audio and component for HD video. Makes the old XBOX look like a million bucks
I had that advanced AV pack on my pal xbox and the image quality was obviously improved even on a crt tv back then. I was a kid back then but I still remember it looked and sounded so good. Now you have the high definition pack which is more interesting for current tvs and monitor resolutions.
The component advanced av pack is S tier making the xbox the most visually clear 6th gen console, even the high quality gold plated cables for the ps2 pale in comparison
Well, the Xbox came with the typical composite a/v cable, and you could purchase a replacement for that at a lower price than the advanced pack back then. The advanced pack was more for people who wanted s-video and optical than a replacement cord.
It doesn't need this AV pack, there are many different cables that are just the normal cord kind, I have several different ones myself, composite, s-video and rgb scart. The reason this specific AV pack is like this is because it's designed to offer multiple options in one package, as you can see it has composite, s-video and optical audio all in one, it's mainly meant for those who want more options to pick from. It's a good thing they made this option available for those who want it.
I imagine that nobody will use his S-Video converter because 1) S-Video is sadly a dead format, and 2) most TV's support component which is even better then S-Video.
The Avermedia hd capture comes with ps3, wii and xbox cable for hd. All comes in the same package, at no charge. Worth giving it a try, good quality image and sound
What's great is that the Steam/iOS/Android re-releases all come with the original Bard's Tale trilogy as a bonus. Android and Steam versions also benefit from controller support (and I think there's a way to use the "character import" better on Steam from other Apple ][ RPGs like Ultima).
Proctor Productions Yep there is www.amazon.com/Xbox-Component-High-Definition-Cable-Pack/dp/B00068B9RO/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1423612324&sr=8-4&keywords=microsoft+hd+av+pack
The XBOX was such a well made console. I feel like I can barely move or set anything on top of new consoles without them going into super meltdown mode. My original XBOX is still operational and I've never had any problems with it. It had an expansive library and a nice big ass controller.
The XBox Component Cable (and PS2) allowed for 480p gaming, which could be set to widescreen mode. Very few titles on XBox (and I think only GT 4 on PS2) allowed 720p.
I'm in the UK aswell, it might just be depending on when it was bought because my first and second PS2 consoles both had the Ariel connectors but my third had the composite but because my xbox never broke I only had the one with the Ariel socket.
I bought one of these way back when- it pissed me off there were never any Digital Coax options for xbox- had to mod that option in.. about a year later i realized component was soo far better than s-video.
I assume that Microsoft should do really special packages, which might be opened only by special Microsoft brand scissors. And Apple should start watching in that direction too.
what I mean,t is the original xbox was just a proprietary pentium3 computer running windows2000 firmware that had pentium4 gaming capability by not having any background process
i don't understand the timeline of xbox , is more complicated that the legend of zelda, if xbox one came out after xbox and xbox 360 , where do you fit in xbox 2 ?after xbox or xbox one , and what does the xbox 360 fits in the timeline? i don't know I'm so confused
I just wish it came with component YUV plugs in it also. I bought this one and then 2 years later I bought a newer HD CRT, so I never got around to getting the component version of it.... just the multi version for the PS2 and Xbox. So, I don't get optical audio. blehhh
I'd love to know what you're running your video through that is allowing you to play both on the TV and record the video stream to your computer. Please do a video on your recording set up!
A few months before the Xbox one 2013 release I fooled my friends saying my brother had one and I was talking about the original Xbox and I showed them and they were there laughing the heads off
Its so awesome watching videos from a guy who clearly loves his job! It feels like a lot of reviewers online just look and sound so burned out, but Mark truly does it for the love of the games!
Les go
This aged poorly but reminds me of a bright past
I used to be a big fan of your channel. Found this vid for the first time as I am about to get this pack.
Thanks from the actual future.
That bass scratch at the squirrel part is one of the things that makes CGR what it is.

This is the best video Mark has done since the last video he did

The component is a HUGE upgrade! 720P. I believe. It for sure improved my PS2.
Well, the Xbox came with the typical composite a/v cable, and you could purchase a replacement for that at a lower price than the advanced pack back then. The advanced pack was more for people who wanted s-video and optical than a replacement cord.
Getting original Xbox soon by the way 2019 anyone
2020. I managed to score an XBox HD AV as well (component) for $50CAN. Pricey but better than the $100ish they demand on EBay
Got mine three days ago
I hope it isn't made before 2003 otherwise you're gonna have problems with the dvd drive
Mark is a genius. How can he do those amazing videos about so silly products?
Mark, you give me faith that when I get to your age, I too will enjoy my collection as much as you enjoy yours.
It doesn't need this AV pack, there are many different cables that are just the normal cord kind, I have several different ones myself, composite, s-video and rgb scart.

The sarcasm was much appreciated! Always enjoy your vids! Keep up the great work.

The real Xbox One !
Mark is the best reviewer of anything in the world
I love those boxes, particularly the component variant that I have. Being able to use your own cables is great.
XBOX 1
The only one :-)
Got it, too. And I will never miss this great Consol
Xbox 1 in color TV!? WOW! We're in the future! :D
Wait...youre not in the intergalactic space arcade
instructions unclear: attempted to install Advanced AV Pack into HDMI port on Xbox One for S-Video
Yeah, I would definitely love to see it make a return.
The Avermedia hd capture comes with ps3, wii and xbox cable for hd. All comes in the same package, at no charge. Worth giving it a try, good quality image and sound
Wish they would built the optical audio output directly on the system like the PS2.
What's great is that the Steam/iOS/Android re-releases all come with the original Bard's Tale trilogy as a bonus. Android and Steam versions also benefit from controller support (and I think there's a way to use the "character import" better on Steam from other Apple ][ RPGs like Ultima).
1,000 thumbs up for reviewing the advance av S video.
Thank you.
The HD pack is better.
HDTV 480p

+JCHGaming69 yeah i was sad when i bought this instead of the HD pack
+JCHGaming69 sadly not everyone in the world can shell out 600 bucks for it 😂
Lewis K It wasn't that price when I got mine. Never the less Im sure if you check ebay yuou could find one for like $30.
But mark. The original xbox comes with composite cables in the box. So it you want that just use those cables.
*You sound like Harold Ramis from Ghost Busters!* ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
I know that. But Mark is jokingly complaining that there is no composite cable, and i am just saying if you need that just use the stock cables.
Love the t-shirt, Mark!
I love the bard's tale. Can't wait for that review.
yes go for it. or even try the av pack + super video
The XBOX was such a well made console. I feel like I can barely move or set anything on top of new consoles without them going into super meltdown mode. My original XBOX is still operational and I've never had any problems with it. It had an expansive library and a nice big ass controller.
Welcome my friend! To Classic Game Room.
I miss the original XBOX! Such a fun console, with so many great games! And if you have a CRT TV, you don't even need this kit.
I so love it when he is being sarcastic about everything!
The XBox Component Cable (and PS2) allowed for 480p gaming, which could be set to widescreen mode. Very few titles on XBox (and I think only GT 4 on PS2) allowed 720p.
I think the Classic Game Room music is getting better.
I'm in the UK aswell, it might just be depending on when it was bought because my first and second PS2 consoles both had the Ariel connectors but my third had the composite but because my xbox never broke I only had the one with the Ariel socket.
Look at Mark, finding a good use for those twist tie things.
Sassiest review ever, loved it.
If Mark will review Armed & Dangerous for Xbox, i'll be the happiest nerd in the world.
Wow, this is probably the funniest video classic game room has ever done. Great job Mark!
Damn right @Robnsgv lol Mark is the man! Love his show, fan for life!
I usually use those exact s-video cables to plug into my Dreamcast VGA box for the handful of games that don't support VGA.
If you do so, I'd recommend a game like Timesplitters 2 or Oddworld Munch's Oddessy as a start for your console.
Which ONE i should buy?
The ONE from the past or the One from the Intergalactic future?
Hehe, I got the first Xbox back in May. I love it.
i love CGR's theme music!
I hope that Original Xbox reviews become more common
No one has the passion for games like Mark.
I like how it says outdoor on the window.
grggreat review, your like my bed time story as i slumber off to dreamland..
I can feel his voice slightly rumble my phone 📱
Doesnt literally every console not let you plug your own cables into the system lol
Nice videos dude. I love retro games too.
I have that, but has video, left right audio, blue, green outputs and no S video. My Xbox is modded with a hd mod and it looks stunning on screen.
-- Agreed. I myself have called the original console the "Xbox 1.0" ["one-point-oh"] since the Xbox 360 console was released.
I used to have the component A/V adaptor which is the only thing this was good for. Who still used S-Video when the Xbox came out?
I bet Mark could do a review of the phone book, and it would be awesome.
I love all of them. I've got them all on my shelf except the Gamecube cause I have my Wii. But the Gamecube has a GBA Player in it
I never had an Xbox 1. The other One I will though.
Entertaining review as always, thanks.
Love the shirt ! Is that in your store ?
Best review ever.
The xbox 1 was such a beast.
I like the new shorter intro
Hey I had the same toy knight when I was a kid, was it part of a boardgame or something, I don't remember well.
I also have the Halo Xbox
The one it comes with plugs into the Ariel socket of the TV.
My Xbox came with a composite cable which plugged into the back. I still have it.
Does optical audio make any difference?
found one of these for 10 bucks at my local game store!
"The first one, not the other one with the silly name." Mind-opening.
I bought one of these way back when- it pissed me off there were never any Digital Coax options for xbox- had to mod that option in.. about a year later i realized component was soo far better than s-video.
That is not a window, that is the outdoor simulator wall 9000. He is actually in space.
You sir are my hero.
Ironically, the emulator scene for this is unfortunately unsupportive.
There's also one with component video and optical audio. A little harder to find.
i don't understand the timeline of xbox , is more complicated that the legend of zelda, if xbox one came out after xbox and xbox 360 , where do you fit in xbox 2 ?after xbox or xbox one , and what does the xbox 360 fits in the timeline? i don't know I'm so confused
I have a question I have an Xbox translucent green but no hello or debug kit word is my Xbox have 128mb RAM
Mark can u tell me how u recorder ur gameplay man look so high quality
By the the way Mark..... You are the review God!
I just wish it came with component YUV plugs in it also. I bought this one and then 2 years later I bought a newer HD CRT, so I never got around to getting the component version of it.... just the multi version for the PS2 and Xbox. So, I don't get optical audio. blehhh
What is better, this cable or the hd cable with the green an blue color ports?
That, ladies and gentlemen, is the desk of the man who has the greatest job in the galaxy.
I purchased the HD one. Looks the same except has the HD component inputs.
Mark you always bring a smile to my face! With your sarcasm you should be British not American!
I'd love to know what you're running your video through that is allowing you to play both on the TV and record the video stream to your computer. Please do a video on your recording set up!
Still got my original with the clear case.
It even says "outdoor..." on the window near the end of the video!
A few months before the Xbox one 2013 release I fooled my friends saying my brother had one and I was talking about the original Xbox and I showed them and they were there laughing the heads off
In the UK the original Xbox comes with composoit video.
I think they meant as "The only ONE you'll need... till we release another ONE"
Can openers are perfect for blister packaging.
Mark could review dust and make it interesting and entertaining!
Ya got that right!
Mark can you review Depression and Anxiety? I just got the new edition.
I'm pretty sure the rgb chords would have been a better choice no?
+Caveira138 there is a hdcomponet too but just some games ,,
