I would love to see a young Jet Li transition over to MMA. With his foot work, speed, and incredible accuracy I think he could have been dangerous in the world of real combative sports.
One of the greatest Martial Artists in history and most influential. As a entertainer and Martial Artist myself I can take or draw a lot from Bruce and form my own style. I like those quotes a lot "Do not go out and look for a successful act and Duplicate it". It's best to learn and formulate ones own style other wise ultimately you make a fool out of yourself or aren't unique. Bruce Lee ~A true inspiration ~
Li is a master of several styles of wushu, especially Changquan (Northern Longfist Style) and Fanziquan (Tumbling fist). He has also studied other arts including Baguazhang (Eight trigram palm), Taijiquan (Supreme ultimate fist), Xingyiquan (Shape intent fist), Zuiquan (Drunken fist), Yingzhaoquan (Eagle claw fist) and Tanglangquan (Praying mantis fist). He did not learn Nanquan (Southern fist), because his training focused only in the Northern Shaolin Styles.
1:50 is where JKD kicks in. The rock a shuffle movement. The strong side "bai jong" stance. The straight leads, and front hand attacks. Boxing style punches, shoulder roll, slips etc. Trapping and intercepting the opponent's punches and kicks. Attack by drawing etc..
Bruce Lee's style of Jeet Kune Do is an amalgamation of many different fighting styles and techniques. Boxing, karate, kung-fu, wrestling, etc. He was an artist and fanatical student of the martial arts. JKD vs "Whatever Art" was not what Bruce Lee was about. He didn't even want ppl to copy his art as it was his own personal style and a culmination of his studies into many other combat arts. Bruce's greatest contribution was exposing martial arts to the masses thru his movies.
I just purchased a grads diploma with Bruce's signature and a group of notes done in his hand, all with body movements..its amazing.I feel blessed to have outbid all the asians in the room....Thanks for this! Gemma
After almost nine years of traning, Li has studied some styles of Wushu, especially Changquan (Southern Longfist Style). He has also studied other arts including Baguazhang (Eight trigram palm), Taijiquan (Tai chi) , Xingyiquan (Shape intent fist),Zuiquan (Druken fist), and Tang lang quan (Praying mantis fist). He didn't learn Nanquan (Southern fist)
For those who wants to know the name of this film, it's "Fist of Legend". It's one of the numerous "Fist of Fury" remakes, and Jet Li plays as Chen Chen.
You are in correct! I have studied jkd. In the late 1980's I was taught lee jan fan gung fu kali, which is basically jkd. The stance and the springing back and forth (Constant movement) are core principles and allow you to change direction quickly.
I took Jeet Kune Do for about a tear as a teen and I loved it. Its so Simplistic in its common sense design but oh so dangerous. i would love to find another good teacher (Master) here in Piqua Ohio.
The funny thing is, I've been living in China for 5 years and I hear more people refer to such things "Chinese Kung Fu" than "Chinese Wushi". There was even this recent TV show called Little Daddy where the guy runs around in a jail cell yelling "I know Chinese Kung Fu" and this is a TV show for a Chinese audience.
@actionmanrandell JKD? I thought it was kickboxing you trained in. Was it both? In that case we have that in common but I have leaned more to the JKD side. I haved trained in several different martial arts in several different variations. That's why I am sure that his strikes do not fit in a traditional JKD style. If you want to claim it as an adjusted type of style then that is all fine and well but as I said in that way you can claim anything as JKD just as all things are Kung Fu,
2 flavors i didn't think i'd get to taste at the same time. i love jet li. and bruce. now if we can get a movie with tony jaa & jet li in it - marshmallow pudding.
One of the best scenes ever shot. Jet is a genius. He knew how to combine the principles of JKD with wushu. It's easy, because JKD isn't a system. True there are certain techniques Bruce catalogued, because they worked so well for him, but it was by no means gospel. Just use what works, and if it ain't working change. The first and one of the only ever true Mixed Martial Artists ever, Bruce Lee. Jet Li did an excellent job in his tribute, and put his own spin on it. Genius.
Bruce Lee lived in Hong Kong. My Jhong is a well known style in China. Bruce Lee was the star of the "Chinese Connection" the remake of this film here about a My Jhong Master. Bruce Lee made the Chin Woo Famous but he gave little credit to a lineage that practiced forms, had a basic phylosophy almost indenticle to JKD, and one that was effectively executed against several opponents long before the term JKD.
There are huge differences between mainstream modern Martial art movies and Classic Jet Li movies. The stuff you see in Jet Li's movies, those moves are actually useful in real fights. They may not look fancy or cool, but they're effective.
very well done, jet li closed in on the distance that greatly decreased the red guy's strength. the red guy seems to be a long-range fighter if you notice he used kicks and reaching punches so being right in front of the guy was smart ^^
This movie is "Fist of Legend", one of the best Chinese Kung Fu movies, good plots and many good fights !! This is a remake of the 1972 film Fist of Fury staring Bruce Lee.
This is not JKD. Its traditional Wushu vs modern mixed Wushu with a Japanese boxing style (that Jet Li uses). I can see how Jet's movements are mistaken for JkD since there is more than one stance (Bruce Lee's traditional "Spiderman Fists", boxer stance, Wing chun stance, and Judo stance) but this was a great film and a great way to present quality differences between traditional and modern styles. We have this problem with people comparing or mistaking Capoeria to street dancing.
@JoCo2317 i understand but the stance he changes to when he decides to stop holding back on the guy is him trying to mimic JKD. he starts loosening up changing his tactics and going with the flow by waiting to counter or adapt to his opponent which in its self is the mind frame of JKD. :)
@FireStormBaller If you go back to look at old pictures of boxers from around that time period they actually kept their hands down near their sides. It was much different that how boxers fight today. I don't know it you'll find much of it on TH-cam due to how far back I'm referring, but there's certainly some pictures online somewhere. Check them out, its pretty cool.
Lead leg is the shortest distance to opponent, thus making the attack quicker to the target. Most of the kicks are to either fend of the opponent or to distract the opponent long enough to get into what is called trapping range (Close enough to punch, elbow, or begin grappling. Kick from the hind leg are more power based type of attack!
@LittleDragon5 You make a good point. The directors would have never made a timeline error like that. This educational film was clearly meant to be steeped in rich historical fact. But in all seriousness, he seems to be using a mix of a lot of different stances and varied techniques to suit his situation. That's what jeet kune do is about, really. Also, some of his blocks and stuff seem to be like wing chun. I'm not an expert or anything though.
The purpose of Chin Woo was to add deversity of techniques from different masters so that students could use tacticts that best suited them. This was before Jeet Kune Do. Other Chinese styles, western and eastern wrestling and boxing have for some generations been studied by My Jhong and have been effectively confronted many times on the exact rules, set by the other styles, for competion/engagemen (boxing, just hands; wrestling, just grappling; karate and TKD; and San Shou and Thai Boxing, etc,
@azarel7 you mean like practicing MMA(mixed martial arts)? taking one styles weakness such as a boxers 0 ground game and covering it up with a different style such as BJJ(brazilian jujitsu) to make an ideal or how you say "complete" martial artis.
@sams211 The guy in white is using jkd (sort of). The first part is mainly kung -fu theatrics, the more realistic jkd begins at 1:50, but still paritaly based on theatrics because they have to make it more exciting for movie purposes.
@l3laze86 :). I just don't want anyone to get the wrong idea about it. Everyone has their own Jeet Kune Do. It's something you personalize to fit you in battle. Bruce Lee encouraged students to go to dojos to learn other fighting arts. The idea was to incorporate as much information as you can, but to develop your mind as to not be limited by "Forms" or "styles." The ability to change constantly in battle to adapt to the opponent. That is the "Way of in the Intercepting Fist."
@Buzztooth Did he create these new parries, blocks or other techniques from scratch, or did he pull techniques from Wing Chun (his base) Western Boxing etc, and combine them? The art that you are referring to is called Jun Fan Gung Fu, not JKD. He did teach Jun Fan Gung Fu to several people. However, Jun Fan Gung Fu is the martial art. JKD is the philosophy used to create the martial art. There is a difference. My instructor has been trained by Dan Inosanto .i've already started...
not to mention that Jet Li is playing in this movie as Chen Zeng role played once by Bruce lee fighting with jkd , also here Jet li uses some capoeira too.
I think when its says JKD, I think it means the spirit of it. Wwhen Jet Li adopted the style around 1:51 his movements looked alot more RELAXED and NATURAL, which is what JKD is all about. Though, this is all choroegraphy which kinda takes away from it, but it was still nice to watch.
@KurtCobain198666 I was dumbing it down for the people who would have no idea what i was talkin about if i got into the details. The power hand forward is acctually prominent in many martial arts, mostly the ones with weapons, i always thought Mr. Lee got the idea from fenceing, seeing as he always refers to it as "your longest weapon." If we wanted to get into details , most of trapping isnt accutally trapping. infact i can only think of 5 moves off hand that acctualy trap a limb.
I would love to see a young Jet Li transition over to MMA. With his foot work, speed, and incredible accuracy I think he could have been dangerous in the world of real combative sports.
Damn, the way Bruce Lee used Jeet Kune Do was godly. His blows, too damn fast. I envy him.
Jeet Kune Do is the best striking style i know of
Jeet kune do is a concept bro😂. Every martial art has its certain level of jeet kune do.
One of the greatest Martial Artists in history and most influential. As a entertainer and Martial Artist myself I can take or draw a lot from Bruce and form my own style. this is not jkd this is huo fist from the movie the fist of the legend by jet li
Noobs Gaming It is definitely JKD.

@SylentRequiem Actually, he did. At the end when he got serious.
Thanks for Hongkong Kungfu Action, I had a good time watching such movies in my life.
That was awesome!
It became JKD after 1:45.
For those who wants to know the name of this film, it's "Fist of Legend".
It's one of the numerous "Fist of Fury" remakes, and Jet Li plays as Chen Chen.
The smoke coming out of hits in Jet Li's movies is funny XD
You are in correct! I have studied jkd. In the late 1980's I was taught lee jan fan gung fu kali, which is basically jkd. The stance and the springing back and forth (Constant movement) are core principles and allow you to change direction quickly.
It's so sick can't wait to learn that
Love these movies. So much more interesting than real life fights!
All right you got me. I was misled by this arrangement of words you used :)
But we understood each other so all's well that ends well :)
Awesome fight seen; f you can see the dust coming of the punch and kicks.
there is always some guy who never dies from getting his ass kicked
I took Jeet Kune Do for about a tear as a teen and I loved it. Its so Simplistic in its common sense design but oh so dangerous. i would love to find another good teacher (Master) here in Piqua Ohio.
I love the white smoke they release when hit.
Man that the guy wit kung fu style is freakin cool in the beginning.
These two made such good partners in martial arts movies...pity there isn't many...
@actionmanrandell JKD? I thought it was kickboxing you trained in. Was it both? In that case we have that in common but I have leaned more to the JKD side. Very cool clip. Any idea what it is from?
Love Jet landing into a one armed push-up... just because he can.
does anyone know what Chin Siu Ho's kung fu style is?
2 flavors i didn't think i'd get to taste at the same time. i love jet li. and bruce. now if we can get a movie with tony jaa & jet li in it - marshmallow pudding.
Fist of Legend
@MarkoBlood Fist of legend. A must watch, with lots of great fight scenes.
One of the best scenes ever shot. Jet is a genius. He knew how to combine the principles of JKD with wushu. It's easy, because JKD isn't a system. Jeet Kune Do is tiiiiiight. Its like free style martial arts. Created by the master.
the capoeira style kick at 2:40 was epic
that kung fu stance is just awesome
That was some awesome ADUKEN!
Nice :)
Hey guys, I've seriously been thinking about learning a martial art. What would you suggest?
witch movie is this??? pleas answer its awsome...
Bruce Lee lived in Hong Kong. My Jhong is a well known style in China. Bruce Lee was the star of the "Chinese Connection" the remake of this film here about a My Jhong Master. ooohhh ahhhh oohhhh ja! ja! pum pum... xD very funny
Wow man. Jet Li pulled that off nicely. Either him or the cameras, at least....
I have to rewatch this movie some time....
After the kick at 1:40 Jet Li "sup bro"
i love jet li's little boxing style
@PatClassic80 Which outcome would you expect?
NICE JET LII
There are huge differences between mainstream modern Martial art movies and Classic Jet Li movies. The stuff you see in Jet Li's movies, those moves are actually useful in real fights. They may not look fancy or cool, but they're effective.
"Be Water my friend."
He doesn't need the wire work. Mad skillz without any special effects.
very well done, jet li closed in on the distance that greatly decreased the red guy's strength. the red guy seems to be a long-range fighter if you notice he used kicks and reaching punches so being right in front of the guy was smart ^^
This movie is "Fist of Legend", one of the best Chinese Kung Fu movies, good plots and many good fights !! This is a remake of the 1972 film Fist of Fury staring Bruce Lee.
@MrJdziel Yes, he used the Center and Centre Line theory to create his own fighting style, commonly referred to as the Way of The Intercepting Fist.

@Zypher2887 Cool, I didn't actually know he did so many styles. Thanks for the knowledge.
I like where the pixels hit the other pixels.
Everyone should watch Ip Man and Ip Man 2. Greatest martial arts movies i've ever seen.
that last kick! Holy shit that would have hurt lol
@JoCo2317 i understand but the stance he changes to when he decides to stop holding back on the guy is him trying to mimic JKD. he starts loosening up changing his tactics and going with the flow by waiting to counter or adapt to his opponent which in its self is the mind frame of JKD. :)

Jet Lee, I have seen he uses Shorinji Kempo tech. And now, Jet Kun Do. Very good :)
I can see the Jeet Kune Do in there. The art of fighting without any style.
Lead leg is the shortest distance to opponent, thus making the attack quicker to the target. Most of the kicks are to either fend of the opponent or to distract the opponent long enough to get into what is called trapping range (Close enough to punch, elbow, or begin grappling. @CenrionPrime when jet li starts hopping on his toes =]
this movie is called Fist of Legend. This is one of Jet Li's best movies and my favorite from him.
1:47 - 2:57 I LOVE this style!
That was fun
@JiraichiAsh It's called Fist of Legend, and it's one of Jet Li's best movies.
WOWWW
Fist of Legend. A remake of Bruce Lee's Chinese Connection

@tutubo86 the movie is called Fist of Legend if I remember correctly. Good movie.
this game has awesome graphics
I'd say Jeet June Do's ultimate aim is to make an individual more efficient in fighting.
1:20 "Why you make me look bad in front of my girlfriend?! Time to open a can of whoop ass. "
@poy09
Fist of Legend. Classic Jet Li
@razielpld It is Jeet Kun Do. He harps in the movie about "formless fighting" which is what jeet kun do is
which is the picture?
@sams211 The guy in white is using jkd (sort of). The first part is mainly kung -fu theatrics, the more realistic jkd begins at 1:50, but still paritaly based on theatrics because they have to make it more exciting for movie purposes.
como é o nome desse filme no Brasil? Esse é o melhor filme do Let li, as lutas foram muito bem coleografadas
@CainTheMain cool, thanks

Из начально Джет Ли не хотел с ним Драться и поддавался,а когда его девушка растроилась Джет Ли показал настоящее мастерство и уделал
not to mention that Jet Li is playing in this movie as Chen Zeng role played once by Bruce lee fighting with jkd , also here Jet li uses some capoeira too.
what movie was this again?
jeet kune doo = wing chun + boxe + capoeira + etc.
crazy
hey everybody do walmart or movies store still got that in dvd?? i wonder if they do

at the last minute he changes his stand to jkd...wicked ;)
