I use soap and water also but I have been told to use Windex. I do the same process but I take the core out when I seat the beads. Air goes in faster and quicker to deflate.
I live and race open small block in the Florida panhandle/south eastern part of the country on both vega and maxxis tires. From my experience the main reason maxxis is a better choice for most tracks around here is because the racing surface is abrasive and has lots of bite. Great for racing on but very hard on tires. Simply put the vega tires just won't last. I killed a brand new set of vega yellows in 20 laps. Literally had cords showing on 3 of the 4 tires. A set of conditioned maxxis are hard to beat down here from what I've seen. Thanks for the videos. Always look forward to them 👍
@@kart6t3_ben yes sir and they did better but still won't hold up like the maxxis. Now I don't mean every track down here is that way. A good example would be beaver creek race track in Alabama. I've never even heard of anyone running a tire besides maxxis and even then you use very little or no prep (conditioner not a softener) at all. Its about as close to running on asphalt as you can get without actually running on asphalt lol. You almost can't spin around and if you do most of the time the kart will either roll or come up on one side. That track is literally smooth as glass and the amount of grip is mind blowing. Its something you have to see in person to fully comprehend. At another local track when I tried running the vega blues I literally was smoking all 4 tires in the turns. Not spinning at all but had all 4 tires glued to the track. It was fast by all means but in 10 laps over half of all 4 tires had feathered. They punched between 45 and 50 when that happened.
I was taught a cheap and simple way to mount kart tires. A 5 gallon bucket. Put the tire on the rim, drop it in the 5 gal bucket and inflate the tire, if u want put a tie down around the bucket. Done. Like i said the Cheap way, but it works great.
@@kart6t3_ben i was struggling so bad tryin to get damn tire beads to set, without having to buy a tire band. Then a track buddy tells me about the bucket. Tried it and tire done 2min.. and it works with all size kart tires..still gotta lube the rim with wd40 or something..try it.
Your right on target takin blues and maxis with you ,just don’t use any soap or wd40 when flipping tires at the track we found out the hard way what happens when you mix horse power and freshly mounted with simple green tires ! Blew off the rim 1st lap 😬🤬

I’m gonna have to try that.
I leave the valve core out, it makes for more volume of air to seat the tire bead...
Ok. I’ll have to try that.
I use simple green it dries after the bead pops. I also mounted an old axel on the bench vertical to get the old tire off and new one on.
That’ll work. 👍

Thank You for the input. Anyone ever try the hard version (blues) of Vega? I prepped a set up.

Ive always just put some dawn dishwashing liquid on the bead. Never had a problem
That works too. 👍
Love Vega but almost all tracks down south run the maxis rule.can run Vega on the asphalt seen.
I’m curious if they are any slower or just monkey see monkey do.
You need to make a video on how to deal with drama at the track...
Wheeeeew can o worms there. Maybe I’ll try.
Also when I'm mounting tires I do it in the back of my truck where there's something in between me and the rim
Not a bad idea. Staying safe it gooder 😁
Tires in hot box, wheels in freezer.
Have you tried the tire hook it's awesome
No I havnt.

I’ve heard of people doing that. Good info.

Momma didn’t raise no fool. I made that tire mistake once, never again.
