This doesn't work with double braid only single braid. That's because the core stops you poking the fid through it without separating it and doing it the long way. Thanks for showing for single braid tho.

Put tape on it. It held on our wire pull.
I think it will hold more weight than it seems because this type of rope is the same pattern as a chinese finger trap, so as tension is put on it the outer rope should tighten around the inner
Yes, that’s exactly what happens. It holds weight pretty well, obviously not serious weight as it’s not designed for heavy lifting due to the cheap braided rope used
In my opinion this is not splicing as I learnd. Spling should hold the rope without any glue, melting etc. I wish you had pulled the loop to show whether it is tight.

That’s unreal I never would’ve thought that if you just get that tool it’s that fast and accurate to splice braided rope I am curious to see that a splice on that rope is rated for
Well I doubt anyone has rated it properly. Its only cheap hollow polypropylene rope

Straight burying splice needs minimum 1,5 meter splice in that diameter to be efficient and you have to stitch it
Ive used this splice for 30 years, and you cant splice it 1.5m
I only hope you don’t do this professionally because it is pretty fking unsafe
@@nandojoven Its not used for any proper lifting weight. Who would try lifting anything with 7/8mm cheap nasty braided polypropylene? We just use it to attached buffs and join net ropes together.

Yes, it’s very quick
A light duty splice once stitched and whipped would suffice for a tarp tie down.
This is strong enough easily for a tarp. Ive hung 150lb of weights off this splice for days and it never budged. It would take far more than than too

@@BurchellAtTheWharf I find twisted rope isnt that great for nets, as soon as you put tension on it, it twists the mesh around it. The only way is use two twisted ropes together, but thats bulkier and costs twice as much. Tradtionally they used right hand and left hand twisted ropes together on head ropes, but I doubt they even make them now
@@beanysfishing2555 your not wrong, with twisted rope, I use them in pairs, or if I'm lucky, a left hand twist with right hand twist hopes keep the rope from wrapping the twine in to a ball, I use to set mackerel trap nets but the local gvt put the boots to it, now it's only a recreational fishery

There used to be a way my fathe used to melt the end to make it permanent. You don't perhaps remember how that was done, do you? What you did is what I want to do, but permanent.
Probably bring the tail end out the side, heat it until it melts, and press it into the rope to bond it I would imagine
@@beanysfishing2555 , I'm pretty sure that is exactly what my father did. But now that I think about it. There are better ropes/knots I could learn. However, I think I could also use a mini heat gun to slightly melt the tail together.

@@xxstepsxx4227 no worries, I do hear ya, that's why I would like to see a weight experiment, whereby traditional splice is compared to these shortcut methods.
In the end, you have to be able to rely on your rope's and knots, and I am always open to learning something new 👍🏾

Ive done it for 20 years. Its not designed for lifting equipment. Its for light loads for fishing, such as buoys etc. Ive had over 100kg load on it and it hasnt moved
I use this method on water skiing ropes and i’ve never ever had one come undone unless i intend it to.
