I watched the midnight matinee premiere of Independence Day on July 4, 1996. The entire theater, packed to capacity, roared in applause at this speech. I got a little misty-eyed when Pullman said, "The 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but when the world declared in one voice,..." I remember the guy sitting next to me said "DAAAYUMMM! Talk about world PEACE!" Awesome movie, and the best special effects I'd ever seen up to that time.

I know not everyone agrees with me. That's perfectly fine. But today, I'm upset over the 2016 Election result. Supporters of Trump, you got what you want. But I disagree with your beliefs and I have a right to do so. As I sat here, feeling quite hopeless, the words at the end of this speech came to me. "We will not go quiety into the night. We will not vanish without a fight. We're going to live on. We're going to survive." I found some comfort in these words. This morning, for the first time in my life, I was ashamed of my country. But after listening to these words again from one of my favorite movies of all time, I received some comfort.
To be honest with you, I wasn't a fan of either candidates. But I know this, I disliked Trump less than I disliked Hillary. I will acknowledge that Trump has had a history of not treating minorities and women as they should be treated (which is equally of course). That being said I truly think he means best for everyone. If you listened to his acceptance speech after winning the Electoral vote he specifically made it clear that he wanted to do the best job for every citizen that lives in the great U.S.A. And that he plans on creating the best environment for EVERYONE of EVERY race and gender. I do believe that people can change from their past. All that being said, going back to why I disliked Hillary. The whole email scandal thing was too sketchy for me. And every Hillary supporter says, "oh she didn't get convicted with anything". Well no shit, it's because she deleted the emails. The FBI notified Hilary that they filed for a warrant, and to not delete any emails that they had detected. When they got granted the warrant and confiscated Hillary's devices she used for emails, all the emails they had detected were gone. Hillary thought she was in the clear so she went ahead and told the public on record that she didn't send any emails. Little did she know, that even if you delete something, doesn't mean its gone. The FBI was able to recover a hand full of the emails she deleted, but they were in bits and pieces and wasn't enough to convict her, which was extremely convenient for her campaign. Regardless, it still raises a major red flag. That flag being, why would she delete any emails if she wasn't doing anything wrong? The answer to that is that she was hiding something that would jeopardize her campaign and possibly her freedom. Otherwise if she was truly innocent, she would need to delete anything. But that wasn't the case was it? She totally lied to the country about the emails existing in the first place. She said there wasn't any emails and then the FBI comes out with bits and pieces of emails they were able to recover. What was she hiding that had her go against the fucking FBI's requests to not delete the emails? She could have been completely jeopardized the national security of the entire United States, which affects EVERYONE's SAFTEY! Hillary was just to much in the unknown and sketchy behind the scenes for me to feel even remotely safe. Lets also look at Trump vs Hillary. Hillary was constantly saying why she was better than Trump, while Trump was explaining what he wanted to do for the middle class which still hasn't recovered since the 2008 housing crisis. (look at middle class salary's from 2008 to now) they haven't changed. the only people who recovered are the top %. Trump knows how to fix that. Meanwhile Hillary is just going on in her commercials about how shes better than Trump and not talking about what shes going to do. In fact she said shes going to continue with Obama care. Which was an over a billion dollar investment that completely flopped and is a complete disaster. Just look at he numbers, seriously. In the end, i didn't like either of them. But Trump was a way better option which is why he won in even some loyally known Democratic states like Pennsylvania. Trump said after he won the electoral vote that he wants to "Make America great again, FOR EVERYBODY" that includes all races and genders that live in this GREAT COUNTRY we call the USA. like give the dude a chance.
I liked this speech for the truth of it. The world really does need to move past it's differences so we can focus on the important things. Like maybe stopping our planet from overheating and becoming unlivable? Maybe exploring other planets? Doing ANYTHING besides killing each other?

If you listened to his acceptance speech after winning the Electoral vote he specifically made it clear that he wanted to do the best job for every citizen that lives in the great U.S.A. And that he plans on creating the best environment for EVERYONE of EVERY race and gender. I do believe that people can change from their past. All that being said, going back to why I disliked Hillary. The whole email scandal thing was too sketchy for me. And every Hillary supporter says, "oh she didn't get convicted with anything". Well no shit, it's because she deleted the emails. The FBI notified Hilary that they filed for a warrant, and to not delete any emails that they had detected. When they got granted the warrant and confiscated Hillary's devices she used for emails, all the emails they had detected were gone. Hillary thought she was in the clear so she went ahead and told the public on record that she didn't send any emails. Little did she know, that even if you delete something, doesn't mean its gone. The FBI was able to recover a hand full of the emails she deleted, but they were in bits and pieces and wasn't enough to convict her, which was extremely convenient for her campaign. Regardless, it still raises a major red flag. That flag being, why would she delete any emails if she wasn't doing anything wrong? The answer to that is that she was hiding something that would jeopardize her campaign and possibly her freedom. Otherwise if she was truly innocent, she would need to delete anything. But that wasn't the case was it? She totally lied to the country about the emails existing in the first place. She said there wasn't any emails and then the FBI comes out with bits and pieces of emails they were able to recover. What was she hiding that had her go against the fucking FBI's requests to not delete the emails? She could have been completely jeopardized the national security of the entire United States, which affects EVERYONE's SAFTEY! Hillary was just to much in the unknown and sketchy behind the scenes for me to feel even remotely safe. Lets also look at Trump vs Hillary. Hillary was constantly saying why she was better than Trump, while Trump was explaining what he wanted to do for the middle class which still hasn't recovered since the 2008 housing crisis. (look at middle class salary's from 2008 to now) they haven't changed. the only people who recovered are the top %. Trump knows how to fix that. Meanwhile Hillary is just going on in her commercials about how shes better than Trump and not talking about what shes going to do. In fact she said shes going to continue with Obama care. Which was an over a billion dollar investment that completely flopped and is a complete disaster. Just look at he numbers, seriously. In the end, i didn't like either of them. But Trump was a way better option which is why he won in even some loyally known Democratic states like Pennsylvania. Trump said after he won the electoral vote that he wants to "Make America great again, FOR EVERYBODY" that includes all races and genders that live in this GREAT COUNTRY we call the USA. like give the dude a chance.

***** I agree. The ability to make money grow from trees is a stupid way to run not only an economic system, but a country at that. The only way money, paper material, should be instigated into practice, is if something of comparable value represents the dollar bill. Something like gold, silver or other types of natural materials on Earth should be in place to prevent a system from growing out of control. Therefore, what I am suggesting is a system similar to the system that was taken away, the gold standard. Money stood for something, not the debt of the people that needed the money.
