    Not really the mower's fault, I would've cut that when it was dry.

      Ideally, yes. It was summertime in Tampa. You mow with the morning dew or you mow around afternoon thunderstorms. The grass is never really dry that time of year

    I enjoy mowing grass for some odd reason it just calms down and puts me at ease..........

    What is the benefit of a stand up tractor versus a sit down tractor it seems only the stand up tractors are used for industrial use can you give me both the pros and cons thanks.

      I prefer the stand of for a couple of reasons. First, the smaller footprint on the trailer and the better sight lines going around obstacles. There's nothing behind me so there's no risk of hitting anything with the back of the machine, as can happen with a ZTR (especially, if employees are using the machines), it's easier to get on and off of should I need to pick up debris and it's lighter.
      Downsides... Mowing under low hanging branches and limbs would be a little easier with a ZTR and much easier with an out front deck like the bigger grasshopper machines. Specifically for the Altoz machines, the weight distribution may be better on the ZTR (I've never owned the ZTR version). I've found that in really sloppy conditions, if the front drops into a hole, the TSX has a really difficult time backing out of the hole. If you can't go forward through the hole, you're stuck. Also, the TRX (ZTR version) has a lot more accessories than the TSX (stand on).

    Can't you put finish blades on the Altoz rough cut deck for a better cut?

    • @Hillsidelanscapemanagement
      @Hillsidelanscapemanagement  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can. This is a vacant lot and the owner isn't particularly interested in it looking good. He only has me cut it (and his other vacant lots) once every 4-5 weeks, just to keep code enforcement off of his back. I use to exclusively use the Toros to cut it but I don't see the need to put unnecessary stress on them. I intend to have all of my machines run 2000+ hours.

    Curious on a few things regarding the cut quality... 1) does the cutting height affect it much? 2) have you tried different blades? I have heard from some that the low lift option offers a better cut. I personally wonder about gator blades to try to mulch up the grass piles.

    • @Hillsidelanscapemanagement
      @Hillsidelanscapemanagement  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Are you referring to the blades in the Toro or the Altoz?
      For the Toro, Gator blades work well on St Augustine or well maintained Bahia. Hi lift also work well on St Augustine. On the Altoz, the rough cut deck uses swing blades, similar to a bush hog. You can put straight blades on it but I've never tried. The swing blades work great on brush. On tall, thin grass, not so much. The long blades of grass tend to wrap around the spindles and cause it to not cut well.

      @@Hillsidelanscapemanagement Thanks for the quick reply, the Altoz. I was hoping maybe the straight or gator blades might help with the cut a bit. I'm considering a 766 and the extension wing actually comes with that straight blade so I'm thinking of converting the rest of the deck. Just debating on using their blades or maybe something like the gators/oregon G5. Any issues with the mower and are you still happy with it?

    • @Hillsidelanscapemanagement
      @Hillsidelanscapemanagement  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@MrTom9933 I'm still very happy with it. My only issue has been the plastic knob/bolts that retain the spindle covers keep backing out so I wind up mowing without the covers and, inevitably, I get a branch into the deck and lose the deck belt. I go through a deck belt every fifty hours or so. Again, some of that is on me. The belt I just replaced this morning had 33 hours on it and when I picked it up from the dealer I showed them where I expected it to come apart and it did. Altoz sent me a Kevlar replacement and it looks to be a much better piece.
      The only other downside would be that the front end of the TSX (the TRX seems to be better balanced) is extremely heavy. If the front end drops into a hole on muddy conditions the machine will just push itself further into the ground and backing out is not likely to happen. That's only happened three times in almost three years though.
      If the machine can push it over, the deck will cut it

      @@Hillsidelanscapemanagement very cool yeah my current Ferris is also pretty hard on deck belts. I think some of that is also a negative of having a lot of torque in the motors. Thanks!!!

    You should've got the finish deck on the Altoz.

    • @Hillsidelanscapemanagement
      @Hillsidelanscapemanagement  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would have been better on this particular job but the reason I bought the Altoz was for overgrown retention/detention ponds and trail clean up. This was just an experiment and to show that you could still get a decent cut out of this deck.
      Thanks for watching

      @@Hillsidelanscapemanagement - just a tip... a set of high lift blades and take 5 minutes swapping them out. It'll cut better, faster, and more efficiently, when you only have grass to cut. The brush blades are great... but are best left for cuts of brush closer to 1/2" or better.

    • @Hillsidelanscapemanagement

      @@driverjamescopeland thanks. I don't typically use the Altoz for jobs like this. It's for the thicker stuff and wet, mucky areas. Thanks again

      Also do not discharge grass into fences. Looks horrible with grass all discharged up into fencing.
