  • Free Mow Fridays is back with another wildly overgrown satisfying yard clean up. These people have just returned home with a newborn and were very appreciative of the work.
If you are interested in any of the equipment I'm using, check out my new page Turf and Tools / @turfandtools where I review equipment that I am sent and use. If you'd like to send something for me to show, send me an e-mail timthelawnmowerman@gmail.com
Hi! My name is Tim The Lawnmower Man and I love to clean up overgrown yards and make fun videos doing it. I'm able to do them for free as these videos have ads on them and the revenue from that enables me to cover my cost.
I'm always looking for the worst yards around. Sometimes I drive around looking for them, sometimes viewers send me suggestions.

Homeowner is young able bodied and the yard looks so overgrown astounds me. Great job Tim as usual. I am now old and disabled yet I still mow my huge block of land. I ran a business, raised kids, carer for my elderly mother and even studied time during those years of this young home owner, and I always mowed my own grass as busy as I was. My yard never got that long and messy. I can understand the disabled, elderly, as well as people going through tough times psychologically etc., Or you have been away for an extended period of time to have the yard go a bit too far. Or the mower won't start ever in for repairs or waiting to afford to buy a replacement mower. At times I borrowed a family members mower because I always feared the kids playing in long grass with snakes.

Good on you Patricia! He looks as though he could be getting to his lawns without trouble but he could be in a difficult time of his life, but I agree, when I saw a young able bodied person, I thought it'd be nicer if it was someone who really couldn't, rather than has been lazy. Who are we to judge though! :P

@ivomirrikerpro3805 Yeah, and notice how they never really state how many hours they actually spend doing any of those things that keep them busy?
Meanwhile, here I am, able bodied and occasionally not able to mow my lawn since I'm working 90+ hour weeks between 2 jobs.
I'm so lazy, infact that has given me the motivation tonight once I finish my 6th back to back shift I'm going to get the mower out at 2am and mow my lawn.
Gonna have to be quick though, need to be back at work again for 6am.
Wish I could be a stay at home parent and play "business owner" in a profitless business and study pointless things online that I put no effort into.

    • @patriciakohler1286

Sounds as though you and I worked similar hours. Given I worked 50 hour business weeks in a physically demanding indoor plant hire business which both my sons own now. I put 20 hours aside of studying my science degree after the kids were asleep which I did very well in. Plus taking care of my elderly mother with cancer running her to appointments and hospital. Including running the household for my kids. Plus, I allotted 2 nights 5.30pm till 7.30pm a week volunteering for kids living on the street and feeding them. Midnight to 1am was my bedtime and up again 6am. Unlike you having back to back jobs and if you live alone makes it harder to maintain a yard. My ex-husband did chip in as well.

Years ago I was at my mils place, in the conservatory. We moved into the dining room, then, what sounded like a gun shot happened and there was a hole in the conservatory window AND the dining room window. A lawnmower from over the back fence, about 40 meters away, had thrown a stone just a bit bigger than a marble. It could have been lethal. So, yeah, those concerns are valid.

Mostly concerned about stones, garden mulch(wood chips etc), snakes and odd spider (funnel webs and redbacks), and dust when mowing and snippering. I always try to get the workers to use eye and nose protection. Ear protection is best too. Legs need protection also but the heat in some areas often makes yard workers ignore this part of safety. So you see personal safety is my primary concern.

Awesome job Tim. That masport mower is amazing.. I have the Honda hru21 contractor mower and can guarantee it would have struggled against that lawn..

A family with a newborn?, your showing up would have been much appreciated help. Thank you. Just on the small sloped area connecting to the neighbors, you showed how much work goes into a groomed area. You edged, mowed, blew-off clippings multiple times to get that nice look, for them both. With the changing weather there, it occurred to me that that back yard was not only long but probably fairly damp/wet. You would be dealing with wet clippings that wouldn't dry or mulch... Ah, it was overcast and you let the first cut sit for two days to dry before completing. Smart. Admiring your good mower, making a major cut without really pausing. People did assemble a pretty thoughtful list of things to consider in working on yards: spiders; snakes; sharp thrown objects; dog poop; stones or wood chips; dust... I tend to think of major objects hiding in grass, often set against fences "out of the way" and then lost in high growth. Those were very nice Before and After photos and a great change in appearance.

Great job as always Tim. It looks like the neighbours have a pagoda in their back yard - maybe its a very elaborate cubby house.

Snakes! Though you have rarely run into any. I'm always afraid of snakes in tall grass in any country.
Especially here in the USA. Lots of snakes in the grasses around south Louisiana. Great video as usual, Tim. Excellent job.

I love watching videos of people who clean super dirty homes for free, now I just came across this video and it's just amazing that people like you do different services for free, even mowing their overgrown lawns! The end result is so beautiful and the video is inspiring! I wish I could go around doing something I enjoy for free! Also I miss living in a house and mowing too, I've never had the chance to learn how to use a weed eater but it looks so fun and gives such a nice look and I can't wait to live in a house again so I can go back to taking care of a lawn and eventually a garden! Also when you used the weed eater and it left behind all of the trimmings I was curious how you'd gather them up off the lawn, using the lawn mower like a vacuum cleaner is so clever!
