  • Welcome. Today we are back in Stockholm to join the paramedics team of this Mobile Intensive Care unit. We are travelling from the Solna ambulance Station to Danderyds Hospital in the north of Stockholm. The streets are packed with snow, which makes driving with this 18 tons ambulance a challenge on its own. The driver needs to be extra careful in these weather conditions. The snow makes it harder to control his ambulance, but other drivers might also be struggling with accelerating, braking and manouvering on the road.

    5:15 -- I don't think the driver was blind and deaf -- he was likely concerned about the red light. Yes, I'm sure Sweden has the same rule about carefully ignoring a red light to make room for an emergency service vehicle using sirens that Germany has, but just like in Germany, I can also imagine that not everyone is even aware of that... or gets stressed out by the ambulance.

      @ogginator 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, we do also have that here and just like you said many don't know or are to "scared" to ignore the redlight.

    • @andreasfischer9158
      @andreasfischer9158 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Actually, we don’t. You are not allowed to pass a red light in Sweden under these circumstances.

      @@andreasfischer9158 thats correct! even if i think this is a bs rule, but it can cost you a ticket to pass a red light even to help a emergency vehicle to pass

      @dennish3614 The law doesn’t specify which traffic rules you are allowed to violate. It doesn’t in Germany either. It is up to the courts to interpret the law in this specific case. The police might choose to ignore this violation.

      You are legally not allowed to violate traffic laws even to let emergency vehicles pass. There was a case a few years ago where a driver sped up on a 1-lane stretch of road to allow an ambulance through. They were charged with speeding, even though they were praised by the ambulance staff. I believe the case was later dismissed only after it got big media attention.

    at 5:09, That driver can't run a red light to let the emergency vehicle pass. But at the same time he need to clear a free path for the emergency vehicle. A catch 22 moment. Same goes for the driver at 2:50. He runs a red light, to free a path for this ambulance, so if any of those car's run a red light they will be taking the full responsibility if the collide with other vehicle.

    What do these mobile intensive care units look like?

    So many vehicles that didn't have there headlights on.

    • @ZyntaaX
      @ZyntaaX 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In Sweden we don’t hade to use headlights during daylight, position lights are enough. That’s why you can often see cars like Audi and BMW run with nothing but their DRL’s (Daylight Running Lights), Audi with their LED strips for example and BMW with their Angel Eyes.

    I think it is most unlikely that the ambulance weighs as much as 8 tonnes. I have driven buses that weigh less than that.

    • @davis2671

      It does actually weigh 18tons. This MICU ambulance is based on Scania truck, and carries lots of heavy medical equipment:

      I'm not sure. This was apparently a large truck. You can just a litle bit of it in the reflections on the glas at 9:20.
      I didn't even knew we hade those here, and i'm Swedish

      Actually it weighs as much as 18 tons, it's basically a huge moving hospital ICU room and has the appearance of a large truck

    • @bjornparkercaldersparr2058
      @bjornparkercaldersparr2058 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It weighs about 18 tons. 3.5m tall and about 12m long. Built on a Scania-chassi. It is a dream to drive tho.
