    I really love how you promote making your own diy dry mix and including a lot of diversity in your bird’s diet instead of just getting pellets as the base of their diet. Pellets have their place, but what parrots really need is just a lot of variety of safe foods.

      Not only is a diverse dry mix healthy for your bird, but I also personally find it fun to create! 😍

    • @BirdNerdSophie

      It's best to only use it when your bird is hormonal! :)

    so so happy that they ship to the EU and not just england ! How would you make the teas, do you need to dilute them a lot, and do you make it differently than you make normal tea?

    • @BirdNerdSophie
      @BirdNerdSophie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If birds are sensitive to trying new things you can dilute it but ours take it fine! You can either hot brew it like normal tea and leva two cool down, or cold brew it overnight - ours are having cold brewed Hormone Bliss tea today!

    Could some of these treats work for Canaries? I'm researching different treats I could use for them so far I think they can have most the things you shared in the video.😊

    • @BirdNerdSophie
      @BirdNerdSophie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes absolutely - all of these would be safe for canaries - you might just need to chop some of the things a little smaller! 😊

  • @drumb0
    @drumb0 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My birds love teas (well some of them do!) I’ll have to try some of these ones.
    In regards to hay, could you give a bit more of an explanation on why Timothy hay is the only safe option? I have guinea pigs so always have hay in but they won’t eat Timothy hay anymore as I now get them ‘ings’ hay. I’m wondering if I can compare the properties to see if this would potentially also be safe for my birds.
    Thank you for the video, time for some shopping!

    • @BirdNerdSophie
      @BirdNerdSophie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's more from a quality standpoint - I have worked on farms and with small animals like rabbits and guinea pigs. Timothy hay is generally fresher and in good condition. Other types of hay (and I've used a lot!) tend to be much dustier and lower quality. These types often harbour more dormant mould spores which become active when wet, soiled or old which can lead to aspergillosis in birds!

    • @drumb0
      @drumb0 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you that’s really helpful. The hay I get the pigs is super fancy and not dusty at all compared to many I’ve tried (I used to work with horses and am really sensitive to hay and dust!) I’ll get some Timothy hay and compare them for dust and quality so I know if I can use the one I get usually for the birds.

    Question Sophie is it also good if you want to feed crows with that too we are rehabilitating some crows and I was wondering if it would be a good thing to put in with their food too. Sophie it would be nice if you could also put in a word to have a store based in the United States to we would love to have a lot of the stuff for our birds

    • @BirdNerdSophie
      @BirdNerdSophie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Crows are very opportunistic so they would be able to eat all these things! The teas could be very beneficial too! This store does ship to the US via a forwarding service 😊

    • @lorimancuso8487
      @lorimancuso8487 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BirdNerdSophie yes I know but there should still be a store in the US too !!!!! I don’t mind paying more for the shipping I just don’t like going through second companies for shipping put in please Sophie a word to start a store in the US we do have Greywood Manor here but every time I go on their site they’re always out of everything and they have really good stuff too I find myself having to go to Canada which have wonderful Products and one of the place here which has a lot of stuff that is just great but not the stuff that you guys have and they have excellent stuff but I would like more variety like what you have with the dragon fruit freeze dried and the flower dried flowers blends Maybe I’m complaining but I just like to have a large variety and opportunity to try different things for my guys

    Hi Sophie, can one only order from this order website in the UK? I've never heard of it? I like that idea for the tea for molting support. My bird is molting for quite a long time. Poor guy. I give him other stuff to help "ease the pain" but tea sounds good. 😊

    • @BirdNerdSophie
      @BirdNerdSophie  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      From the UK and Europe yes! If you’re in another part of the world, I can recommend another type of tea 😊

      @BirdNerdSophie here in the US we have Bird Street Bistro. They have teas and I bought their food too. They have different mixes you have to cook. I did that for a while, and then I made my own grain bake with veggies.

    Is Polly's available in Australia,?. I write down different ingredients from your videos and go to the organic shop and put together what I can. Cats and dogs food is far superior then parrot food here.

    • @BirdNerdSophie
      @BirdNerdSophie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t believe so no, as Australia has strict import laws on seeds, produce and flowers! Queenslander Aviaries have some comparable products!
