Our filmmaker Robert in his little interview about this video says: "The Wild Coast was formerly known as the Transkei. It is one of the less developed and unspoiled coastal areas in South Africa. Getting down to the coast can be tricky since the roads are often very bad. We visited there recently because my brother is working as a doctor in the rural village of Sinangwana. He lives with his wife and daughter in a small house next to the river. While we were there I spent some time filming on my drone - it is not often that I get a chance to fly over empty beaches. I flew mostly in the early morning and late afternoon and was lucky enough to capture a pod of dolphins in the waves." The Transkei coastline is known for its stunning natural beauty and pristine beaches. The region boasts over 250 kilometers of rugged coastline along the Indian Ocean, with stretches of white sand beaches, towering cliffs, and rocky coves. The beaches in the Transkei are popular destinations for surfing, fishing, and swimming. The waters are teeming with marine life, including dolphins, whales, and various species of fish.
One of the most distinctive features of the Transkei coastline is the presence of traditional Xhosa villages and communities. Many of these villages are situated along the coastline and offer visitors a glimpse into the local culture and way of life. This reminds me so much of my youth and hiking that beautiful coastline. You can clearly hear woodlands kingfisher and red-chested cuckoo calling on some of the forest sequences. Nice also to see the Strelitzias in some of the shots. Miss it and those times tremendously.
Watching the drone view videos of stunning landscapes really puts life into perspective, 9 to 5-ing for decades isn't really living.
