- SMG4 War of the Fat Italians 2022 is apart of the Lawsuit arc. This is why this is a bad decision.

Wotfi's over the years have been a combination between standalone and arc included. However it appears that arc Wotfi videos are taking over with the last 3 years including the TH-cam arc and the Genesis arc to have a War of the Fat Italians. This is why it hurts SMG4 and the overall narrative and why we need a new format for the series.

SMG4 AKA SuperMarioGlitchy4 is an animated series based on Super Mario 64 bloopers AKA SM64 machinima and GMOD AKA Garry's Mod. It has had a variety of arcs such as the Waluigi arc the Rapper Bob arc the Anime arc the Genesis arc the Revelations arc and the Lawsuit arc. Currently we're in an arc based on Lawyer Kong. This is not an SMG4 Theory like my SMG4 Court Theory or SMG4 DMCA Theory. This is not my SMG4 Wotfi Theory. This is not a Wotfi rap or Wotfi 2022 or War of the Fat Italians. SMG4 is under Glitch Productions which is an animated studio that has had a variety of animated shows such as Meta Runner Season 1 Meta Runner Season 2 Sunset Paradise and Murder Drones Season 1 with Meta Runner Season 3 just finished. Although this is SMG4 about an arc focusing on Meggy and Mario and Bob and Boopkins.

To be honest the problem with The Lawsuit Arc is that it is too similar to The TH-cam arc but has a considerably worse main villain
I feel like people are forgetting about the Revelations arc, which doesn't end in a WOTFI.
Fr and that was a pretty dark one too it ended with a mini movie special rather than a wofti

@@RuoLibros The Anime Arc was the only arc to be the single year arc that doesn't end with a Wotfi. Rapper Bob Arc came out the same year as the Waluigi Arc, and Revelations with Lawsuit. While i dislike the Anime Arc, I respect it for not having Francis be like "Hahaha, I killed your octoling ally. Now I'm going to send you to do wotfi challenges, lol".

I would personally love to see an arc where the antagonist wins instead of the same thing where the story reaches its climax and then they end it with the antagonists being defeated.

I agree. Stories where the hero always comes out on top is boring, I think it would be awesome if they lost for once and also I think it would be nice if some other person got the spotlight for once. I mean Mario and SMG4 having the spotlight is fine, but Meggy has been getting way too much screentime compared to the rest of the cast including Bowser and other nintendo ip characters. I would just love for SMG4 to make someone else the star for once other than Meggy.

I don’t have any issue with this as it’s fun to see these fun challenges, and then get a fun song in the end.
The Genesis arc is the only exception, but only for the challenges, the song is still a great addition.

First off, I think the "War" part fits when there are teams as a war is not fought by two people. Second off, there were proper surprises at the end of WOTFI this year. I did not see the redesigns coming. Third, it was a war of the Fat Italians for each example. Mario Vs SMG4. SMG4 Vs SMG3. SMG4 Vs Mario. In the most recent, we had SMG4 Vs Mario. And lastly, there just fun. Enjoy them for existing and congratulate the hard work put into them.
I think after If Mario was in Splatoon 3 had a new SMG4 model, everyone saw the SMG4 and SMG3 resdesign coming. I will say though that I was surprised about the Fishy Boopkins/Bob redesigns, since those weren’t hinted at
I completely agree with the Third Part. All the Wotfis had to have something with fat Italians. Since SMG4 and 3 are recolors of Mario, then they are fat. The last two with SMG4 vs Mario is Shadow Mario(I guess) and Mario under Nintendo’s Influence

This opinion basically tackles the fact of how wotfis aren't bad or anything. Like this is glitch production's choice not yours. If you don't like his arcs then don't watch him. It's not like he is going to listen to one person who just hates the facts that every wotfi has a rap at the end and follows the same path
Imagine going to a trial for your 10 years of hardwork on the internet and then your in-training lawyer starts rapping

The main thing I like about the Wotfi's ending the arcs is the rap themselves, maybe the Mario Challenges, (the thing that brought Saiko's redesign) should be when Wotfi's take place and still have some arcs end in a song, for me they add a huge amount of enjoyment to the arcs and Zero/Objection are both bangers, this would give the best of both worlds with Wotfi still being the war of the fat Italians but keeping the songs (that tbh feel less like a rap and more like a actual song)
I personally like watching wotfi's that end an arc but I do see everyone wanting to see a stand alone wotfi. Some make sense some don't but in the end it's SMG4s choice. I hope to see a stand alone but I'm not complaining either way. I'm just hoping for an awesome rap battle

I disagree. In my opinion yes we can predict that the antagonist always loses but we get 10-20 minutes of challenges and funny moments. And then the rap battles are always fire. Yes I also love the rap battles with no arcs but the ones with an arc going on hits different. For example, the wotfi arcs always have some sort of twist. Like once the antagonist is winning and then the protagonists starts to win and the antagonist loses. It also effects the music in some sort of way. Like when the antagonist starts to rap the music has some sort of feeling like the antagonist is gonna win.(THIS IS JUST HOW I FEEL) Meanwhile when the protagonists start to sing the music changes the feeling like he protagonists are going to win. (AGAIN, THIS IS JUST HOW I FEEL) Also your prediction you mentioned about the ending in 3:48 , you were almost correct EXCEPT, after the wotfi arc was premiered today you can see that in the ending there is always a permanent change. Like if you look at wotfi 2018, waluigi still feels rejected but wario always comforts him. In wotfi 2020, smg3 lives in the internet graveyard now. In wotfi 2021 axol dies. In wotfi 2022 lawyer Kong becomes funky Kong. Speaking of wotfi endings, in the endings of wotfis with an arc, there is always either a good or bad ending. In wotfis with no arcs going on only have one ending. And it's kinda short. Because if you look at 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019's wotfis you can see the ending after the arc is pretty short. Meanwhile for wotfis like 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2022's wotfis always have a longer ending than the wotfis with no arcs currently.
So in my opinion (JUST MY OPINION.)
One wotfi should exist every year as it is a tradition.
The wotfi can be done as an end of an arc or simply just Smg4 vs Mario, though in my opinion the wotfis with an arc are better.
Now I'm not hating on your opinion or anything. I'm simply making a statement of how I think.

In my opinion I really enjoy Arc WOTFI’s but then again, I would like at least a couple Stand Alone WOTFI’s

I have to disagree. In a world with so many shows with complex plots and longer arcs having SMG4's arcs follow a more standrad 'Fairytale' structure (I.E Happily ever after at the end) is kind of a fresh change of pace from a lot of the heavier stuff out now these days. If you like more unpredictable content, I suggest checking out SMG4's original shows, those are pretty good. :)
That is fair. But I feel like it robs what could've been a satisfying ending. Even though the Revelations arc isn't great, it didn't end in a WOTFI, and I like that it didn't. For me, it's not the fact that "oh it's just a WOTFI ending a story arc woohoo." It's that they don't do anything with it. WOTFI could be better incorporated into these arcs, and do things only unique to that specific arc.
Why change something from good to bad?

Honestly, the only good thing that I see about WOTFI being part of an arc is how it's rap battles are the best. Also, I'm not sure if to say it completely ruins the arc since SMG4 hasn't never been something to be taken to seriously, but I 100% agree with you when it comes to the name itself and how predictable they can be. Also, apparently, this WOTFI will change SMG4 according to the description. Let's just hope SMG4 can find a balance of one year a standalone WOTFI and next year an arc WOTFI.
I would love to see that, That way for the people that want a stand alone WOTFI I can happen every 1st year and an arc related-WOTFI every 2nd year. Like the Olympics but not every 2/4 years

I was fine with WOTFI being an arc finale. But after three straight years, we need a regular “back to the roots” WOTFI for 2023. Kinda like how 2018 was an arc finale but 2019 was a more laid-back slice of life one.
I can safely say that WOTFI 2019 is the most overlooked and underrated one of them all.

The Revoluation arc is the only one where there is no wotfi as if recently
WOTFI’s now are more used to have the challenges to be a bit refreshing as a break, and then the rap battle as a finale. To be fair, WOTFI 2022 was actually pretty decent, it was a Segway into SMG4 and SMG3’s new designs. There was more to the arc than what you said, though it’s basically what you said.

Actually I disagree because each arc is different and unique. Loads of surprises are filled within each one. The rap isn't necessarily the war of the fat Italians since it usually has a more tense and better storyline but the challenges is when the war commences between them. Each rap is different yet still cool along with the surprises filled within each arc and this always gets to wondering what the next one has to offer and that's what I love about these. So in my opinion, these arcs follow the similar flow, but have so many different and cool features each time and that's what makes each arc unique.

I say if it’s working for them then there’s no need for them to stop. Its a yearly anniversary type episode that started so long ago that it’s basically tradition for SMG4 and his community.
WOTFI is a tradition! And it's been a tradition year after year since the channel started. You're not gonna go down to Japan and tell them to stop having seasonal festivals, or pound on the presidents office and demand fourth of July be cancelled (which someone actually tried, and people did it anyways.) Wotfi is a celebration of another year that smg4 has been on TH-cam.

i honestly thought they were gonna make a lighthearted arc like BOB’s ARC with their new character Karen. since it seemed like she was showing up as appearances more and more. but now her scenes feel like small filler in episodes since Luke would normally use another asset for minor roles

i like to imagine wotfi 2025 will actually just be mario and smg4 rap battling to each other because nothing happened (like, no villains return, no distractions and all that) well the crew watches, also, if you're wondering why i said 2025, well at 2025, wotfi 2015 (the most nostalgic for old fans) will be a decade old!

3:48 congratulations, you picked the very very very generic summary of the episode. While wotfi has a style, it's the in betweens that mean things. It's how the style is kept the same but still different from all the other times wotfi was the end of an arc.

Arc WOTFI doesn't feel like mario vs smg4 anymore, more like the wannabe main cast vs their shadow the hedgehogs or some other villian or whatever they do, they should rename it to WOTEBG aka War of the Evil Bad Guys or something

The Genesis arc subverted the tone for the still optimistic that Axol will live or be freed using said light tones that is associated with the Wotfis, they still won but also lost.
That was my feeling. It WAS unpredictable to me because I wholeheartedly believed Axol was gonna survive, and I didn’t even think twice about it. And of course I ended up being wrong. Sure there are aspects that get repetitive, but the arcs that the WOTFI’s put themselves into are all very unique.

@@emmanuelmorenodelarosa4691 what I am saying is the last WOTFI was baiscally nostalgia bait pretty much took any conflict that could be at a normal SMG4, made it longer and slap the name war of the fat italians to the end of the arc episode which the only thing that make it different is having a song in the end but that cannot carry the entire WOTFI, imagine if we had batman vs superman 2 but instead batman and superman not fighting at all and that when for many is the last straw and heck right now it the SMG4 series pay the price with trying once again cover the events under the rug with the exception of the changes like the redeisgn once again like in the post revelations arc, and having basically what I call franchise fatigue episodes which trying to kill time until the next big things and basically the series get less views than ever with each new episode and even subs get much slower, sorry if I sound like a hater but the facts cannot be denied

No it doesn't. And Luke will never stop even if he did see it. WOTFI's are perfect as arc enders especially depending on the arc concept and it still revolves around a Fat Italian against another Fat Italian
To be fair, all WOTFI's (except for 2020 but that's fine as the "Italians" part seems to refer to SMG4 and SMG3 instead of 4 and Mario) have haid SMG4 and Mario on opposing sides.
1. Waluigi made the 2 fight eachother.
2.The gang had to fight MArio clones in 2021.
3. MArio was forced to represent Nintendo in 2022.
"Devil's Advocate", who just watched WOTFI '22, here. While the format absolutely has become predictable, I think the musical element gives an exciting climax to the last few WOTFI-laden story arcs.
Plus, I think the permadeath element adds to - not subtracts from - the show because it adds tension to some of the stories.
Finally, what's bad about dark story arcs? Again, a genuine sense of conflict and tension adds to the show and makes it more than just silly meme jokes like it was in the pre-WOTFI days years ago.
i don't think his issue is the dark story arcs, i think his issue is them concluding with a WotFI, but to be fair, 2021's WotFI wasn't a conclusion, but a midpoint. the conclusion is where the true SMG0 was introduced and then later perished

Gonna be honest here. I personally love all the arcs.
As much as i respect your opinion entirely, i am trying not to cry about it.
A villian win with a win, and some diffrence, like something takes over peaches castle, they cant go back, until a ark like maybe 2 years after, in that case 2024 would be self contained, and 2025 would follow up the plot of 2023 if it were to happen, people who like self contained arks, and bigger arks would enjoy atleast one of the arks.
I would really want the wotfi episodes to rework their endings. With standalone episodes the rap battle works because it doesnt establish a winner and its like the final challenge. But with the arc episodes, we know that the rap battle is the only thing mattering. What’s the point of watching the challenges if all of that is meaningless for the final part? (it was the same problem with the meme games btw, that should be acnowledged too)
I agree in Genesis Arc. Why did they have to kill off Axol?! He's a fan favorite character. Mine too. I even cosplayed him for halloween for tribute.
In reality, they killed him off just to make and sell merch.
You can’t exactly say shock value because literally everyone knew he was going to die the instant he got taken over by Zero.
For Melony’s character development? Ever since Revelations and the end of the Cosmology Saga, Melony has reached irrelevancy levels that rival Rob and Belle.
- The next time Melony will be relevant will likely be when she dies and reunites with Axol for good.
Axol was one of my favorite characters as well, and he was done so damn dirty.
- Especially since Zero returned in Revelations, invalidating any impact his “sacrifice” at the end of Genesis had

Actually, that’s a misconception.
Kevin’s voice hurts more doing Boopkins than it ever did voicing Axol.
Considering in one of the Hobo Bros episodes, Luke had to stop Kevin from straining his voice with the Boopkin’s voice.
- Then in their reaction to Mask of Madness, Kevin was able to whip out his Axol voice on the fly

@@BoltBlades12 I think it’s more the combination of the two. Having to characters with that type of raspy voice, especially both main characters, is probably what would hurt. And Boopkins is just more iconic in both character and voice, as well as probably a character Kevin preferred of the two(it did also seem they didn’t know what to really do with Axol at one point)
Bro chill. These are supposed to be comedy breaks. Glitch is primarily COMEDY. NOT arcs. And if you don't like it, stop watching and let the rest of us enjoy it.
Sorry bro but is look like SMG4 is out of ideas at this point I belive WOTFI 2023 gonna be the last straw to even the die hard fans, the problem is those dark moment of the arcs feel so forced and the after perma deaths moments not really make sense in the long run, look meggy and desti they were bitter rivals for nearly all of the episodes desti showed up but after her death meggy behave like they were BFFs all the time like my god and they barely had time to develop a real freinship that will effect her like this mentally, as for the death of axol it was a wrong move in all direction, making it effect melony mentally hard don't work since she behave like he was her BF for good years when they didn't have really time to develop a proper relationship, it was axol's fault to die nope it was just SMG4 the character's fault for taking the risk of bringing dead memes out of the graveyard, does he was the right character to kill not either since he was here for enough time that some will love him yet he not the longest stayed OC character that he was the right choise, add to the fact they did nothing with melony after revelation despite using the revelation as hype of her being a more major cast member basically just screw the purpose of a SMG4 movie when instead of using it to develop the character like they did with meggy on meggy's destiny which developed her character afterward it was just give her a big moment and forget about her as a whole

The next WOTFI will probably be standalone. As for the anatomy of WOTFI in general, I too think WOTFI was ruined by the participants being more than just SMG4 and Mario. I also believe most WOTFI's in the future will continue to be the ends of Arcs and that The Meme Games will be standalone. Mayhaps they'll just trade Arcs. They also need to cool it with the Arcs in general, we need maybe a year break from them, period. We've had Genesis, then Revelations a few months later, then the Saiko and Kaizo thing, then the Lawsuit Arc. It's too much to handle in the span of 1 year. This has left very little time for SMG4 videos to be SMG4 videos.

Yeah, the title worked better with the waluigi arc, and the TH-cam arc. Now I think the trend itself could use a different title when focusing on other types of arc finales, such as the lawyer arc, that focuses heavily on non fat Italian characters.

But it used to be between smg4 and Mario exclusively, challenges and all. The start of the inclusion of side characters came when the 2017 rap battle happened (if my knowledge serves me right). Everything before was smg4 vs mario, and only that. Hence the title.

I can only assume wotfi came to be as some silly, yearly tradition that would throw smg4 and mario head to head in a series of challenges designed by the viewers. Nowadays the meaning behind it is life changing for the characters, being the true decider on whether they get to see a brighter future. I'm all down for it, but the meaning changed over the years, and so as the premise.
My problem is it gets way too serious and I am not sure how to feel anymore. They originally were just SMG4 and Mario competing or arguing about something. How did we end up with complex stories?! I jus come for a good laugh.
I just see he try to pull what kirby does combine light hearted moment with serious tone but unlike kirby, SMG4 wasn't doing this stuff from his early moments, and kirby doing the reveal of the dark parts slowly but surely to executed it right while SMG4 pushing it very fast when is downright annoying or overwhelming

All arks end in similar fashion. Well what story can you name where the bad guy wins and then the world is destroyed and all the viewers go "hell yeah", its just even worse story telling than the current one cause viewers usually like good endings where the protagonists succeed more. Even if its predictable, the way they walk to get from point A to point B is still super interesting, like the fate of the actual youtube channel being on the line or the whole universe about to be destroyed by an evil god. And it still adds unpredictability with the perma deaths or totally different things like 3 characters getting permanent different looks at once
Four characters, SMG3 was also redesigned because if SMG4 couldn't look like Mario, then why could he?

U guys are missing the point. Wotfis aren’t suppose to be apart of arcs and the fact you guys are just ignoring that kind of annoys me. These are only supposed to be Mario vs Smg4 and the fact that we can’t even a normal wotfi anymore is just so disappointing.
I feel like the lawsuit arc fits a little bit more with the WOTFI ending, as it was clearly more lighthearted and not meant to be as serious as the previous two. There is still defenitely the problem of predictability still there though.
I want to see our Favorite characters genuinely lose For once. And in all honesty this WOTFI felt like a miss opportunity in terms of story. SMG4 was Genuinely Going to give up, but because Meggy's Arc as a Lawyer was Set up previously and not used very often, it was still a good use of her knowledge but again, i wish the characters would've lost or atleast lost SOMETHING this time around, and also yeah. WOTFI Does not need to end the arcs off, just end it with a n actual episode and not a tradition that is usually for Fun. I get that now we have the meme Games and WOTFI and It'd be hard not to end an arc on one of those, but if that's the case. Just freakin replace wotfi with the meme games and give arcs PROPER endings. Or, Have one half of a Year or 3 month of a year be an arc and the rest of it saved for goofy shit like they've been doing with the Mario Does stuff/plays/reacts, maybe do a reunion with the old character recolor marios and show them reacting to redesigns of themselves because they don't know what's going on. Have that be an excuse for a Reunion. Remake episodes with the redesigns, tie that into and arc maybe everyone's memories get altered or something and they have to recreate videos to restore said memories.

I feel like SMG4/Glitch feels like if they have an ongoing arc going on that they feel like the WOTFI HAS TO BE INCLUDED because I guess that they fear it either won't get enough views or interest from people if they just released a WOTFI that was not related to the arc in any way while the arc is going on
well, WOTFI has been a tradition since 2011, and I don't really see it ending anytime soon, however, I think 2023 should be a recharge year with no big arcs or a wotfi, maybe a meme games to hold people off, and then luke and kevin have two whole years to make a wotfi that could potentially soar above the expectations of EVERYONE
Something I thought was gonna happen for some reason was in "Goodbye SMG4" when Mario gave Kirby the parody contract, Kirby would approve it and everyone would come back and SMG4 would turn to the camera and say, "There you go, a non-arc related WOTFI!" but sadly no.

My personal opinion: WOTFI 2019 was the last good WOTFI. 2020, 2021, and 2022 were just okay, and that’s being generous.
(That’s just my opinion though, don’t shoot me)
Tbh, i don't even see anything interesting in arcs anymore. Every arc is "Everything good. Oh no, bad guy is here!". Then everything is getting bad and scary, bla bla bla. After that, boom, wotfi, rap battle, bad guy getting 99% weaker cuz plot armor of main cast. Bad guy lost, the end.
the 2022 wofti wasnt really this because it was a lot more “each side takes a fail in a way”
also it wasnt as dark as most other arcs (maybe except from when everyone dies but its not as sad)
Honestly, I'm gonna sound like a hardcore SMG4 defender here, but I honestly still enjoy the WOTFIs coming in at the end of the arcs. Even though the ending is still obvious, they are always so fun to watch. And the end with the rap battles are always the best part.
I agree, they can be fun, but he should either do a regular Wotfi every 1-2 years, or just end arcs and team challenges in the Meme Games and keep Wotfi the original way.
I agree, but it meshes heavily against the tones. Majorly noticable in the Genesis arc. Just shouldnt have ever have been there.
I was hoping someone would make a video like this. I noticed that for the past 3 years (including the Waluigi arc) all the WOTFI'S we've been getting are always tied to an arc and are usually the big finale for them. What I don't like is how often it's being used like that. WOTFI appearing at the end of every arc feels like it's growing stale and I wish that it would just be its own thing sometimes rather than being the finale of every arc.
The two arc's that do this finale best in my opinion are WOTFI 2018 and 2020. Both of them still had a solid story with it being a little serious at times, but still felt like good ol' SMG4. With 2021, I was more just like, "eh." but for me the major thing about it was that it were trying to be serious rather than haha funni SMG4 video, and it put me off, and WOTFI 2022 appears to be going the same way.
The WOTFI 2020 rap battle is by far my favourite because it strikes a haha funni SMG4 tone which is why I like it so much. The other rap battles are good but it doesn't hit me the same way.

It's been a long time since I've watched SMG4. Coming back to SMG4 now, it kinda sucks. The remodels the redesigns, the fact that the videos actually have plot and are a lot more serious now. A bunch of anime girls all of the sudden.
It's just a LOT that has changed. Especially as someone who has been a viewer of SMG4 for a decade. Well, at the start of SMG4 when he was known as marioglitchy. (I think it was that it's been so long okay). I really miss the old content he used to do, no actual plot and nothing serious or intense tension. Just pure on lighthearted and jokes. It's not even close to before.
But I really like their glitch channel the shit they make there is good, especially murder drones. It's nice finally seeing Liam Vickers make a show.

I think at the end of the day, you make some good points but your overall case is ultimately invalid. I agree that the WOTFIs are becoming a bit too predictable, and I concur that using them to close off each Arc is a bit tacky. However, the issue isn't with the WOTFI itself as much as it is with how they are used and what their impact is. WOTFIs are ultimately meant to be fun; the fans can submit challenges, you laugh when you watch them, and you bob your head with the rap battle. The issues occur with how they're used to close off almost every important villain Arc and that the current ones usually have to force Mario and SMG4 to fight. If they were to become stand-alone events most of their issues would be immediately resolved, and if a villain were to "win" a WOTFI I think that it would be a monumental event in the show. To put it simply: WOTFIs aren't perfect, but they are fun AND they can still be changed in the future.
The entire concept of WOTFI was purely smg4 vs mario before smg4 changed its whole entire concept and its purpose.
Using WOTFI as a cheap scapegoat to end an arc is just super dumb all together and makes all the build up feel worthless, the name itself says «war of the fat italians» not «war of the fat everyone is here italian vs some cosmic eldrich being»
It becomes stale as hell over time and way too much predictable how 99% of the time how every arc ends. Just focus less on arcs, it’s fine every now and then, but drama moments or emotional moments never has been a strong suit for smg4’s channel when comedy and funny stuff was the whole purpose and why his channel existed and got insanely popular over the years.
It doesn’t feel like SM64 bloopers anymore, it starts to feel more like of a GMOD Bloopers, and this arc all together seemed like an excuse just to put up his own design for both himself and smg3.

Sure, it gets predictable but I argue it would get more predictable with stand-alone WOTFIs. The Arc WOTFIs have this sort of climactic feel that stand-alone WOTFIs just don't have. In the end, they're all the same thing but with Arc WOTFIs we get a sense of an ending. Case in point, WOTFI 2019 vs WOTFI 2020, a stand-alone WOTFI that decided to go back to its roots with X being a referee vs the final clash against SMG3 for the TH-cam Channel. In 2019, the framing device is a game battle that X is sick of so he throws them through some actual games (the challenges), after the challenges, X gets fed up and tries to make them compliment each other (the rap battle). After the rap battle, we stop for a bit for a joke (X leaves them) and then straight towards the credits. In 2020, however, we get a framing device for the challenges (the remote gives them to see who's worthy of the power), then after the challenges we get the darkest hour (SMG3 saying screw it and taking the remote anyway), then the rap battle (now with more background fighting), and finally, we get to see the consequences of SMG3's actions with him being locked in the internet graveyard and Meggy having a VA. Where stand-alone WOTFIs end with a joke, arc WOTFIs actually *end.* I like both but I can't deny I like the endings more than the stand-alones. That said I respect your opinions
@@Plotpurotto As NoviceYT stated so well, the Arc WOTFIs are far more engaging than the joke WOTFIs. While I think a healthy balance of both is good for the channel, my favorite WOTFIs are 2020, 2021, and 2022. Having something to lose is always a powerful method of keeping your audience interested, and with SMG4 almost every Arc WOTFI ends with a change that permanently alters the path of the show. I understand that some people prefer the more brainless humor of SMG4, but so does SMG4. The creation of "Mario reacts" or "Mario does this" videos are a way of satisfying his older fans, but their lack of impact on the cannon keeps the newer fans happy. Ultimately, WOTFIs are meant to be fun. I think that they should have a bit more variety, but I love them regardless.

Take the waluigi arc as an example, despite it was a bit all over the place, it made sense that WOTFI would be held since it was revolved around smg4 vs mario only while waluigi was in the control of everyone else and used them for the challenges where smg4 or mario had to complete. That’s WOTFI and it spiced things up.
The problem about the later arcs is that he made build ups of each and every one of them and then ends it off with WOTFI where the core concept was always about smg4 vs mario only. Not everyone vs everyone. That is one of the main issues.
The genesis arc was one of the worst offender to this. Luke and his team had this clear buildup and it was dark. What did they end it with? War of the fat italians which made no literal sense to end if off with that.
That’s my issue about this and they’ve done this now three times in a row because it’s what gets the views in.
They need to make arcs not obvious to point out, atleast make sense to end it off with WOTFI like how the waluigi arc did and balance out WOTFI between standalone ones and arc ones.
