@@TechSteve I have the U7N for a reason pal, U8N did not convince me. I wouldn't spend extra money for unnecessary features that ruin the experience, less is more in this case. Works even better with next-gen consoles at 4K 120fps.
Just ordered the U8N for my main upstairs living room. It’s going to replace a Samsung Q90R that I’ll hang on the wall in my basement living room. I thought 1500 nits was bright on the Samsung... Looking forward to seeing what 3000 is all about.
I was looking at a 65U8NAU as it was on sale for $1995, $700 off! The U7N looked great actually, it was around $1700; normal price So, guess which one I chose? I chose the TV with the pro panel, the brighter panel with more nits, upgraded sound system, and I could get to pay it off interest free over 4 year. Yep, the 65U8NAU I turned the backlight down to about ~30 & I turned the colour down as well. It is a very nice TV, I am happy
Thank you so much for this video, really well presented I love how you made it look quite easy to compare the two models, your opinion and the time you put in to make it. To be honest this has been my favourite video about the two and it’s very much appreciated. New subscriber here, many thanks 😃
Are these quality TVs? Meaning, the parts won't burn out in 2 to 3 years. All my current TV's get about 10 years of life, some 12. Are these on par with that or is the data not there yet?
Ty steve. I have a question for you or anyone else that reads my comment. Do you think prices will be cheaper right before the super bowl or right after? Funny. I was looking at both tv's the other day. Looking at the specs, there were only a couple of differences that i noticed. I actually think the sound is better on the u7n despite less speakers. its sounds louder but more tinny on the u8n. I agree the picture looks brighter in some instances on the u8n in your video examples. I currently own a 12 yr old 50" Toshiba tv. Will definitely be upgrading in the next 2 months. Great comparison of tvs though. Short and concise. Ty
Great work mate. Thank you for this comparison. Nice work on the audio presentation. I have a high mid end component stereo and can always get a pretty accurate understanding on sound if the channel uses a good mic.
Okay, I'm sold. But what about U8N vs Bravia 7? BTW, in your audio clips, the sibilance got really bad with the U8N. Maybe it was just turned up too loud for those small tweeters to handle.
Motion isn’t a problem most of the time, it’s playing low bit rate content like iptv, old cable boxes, usb movies. If you have 50-80 mbps internet try hulu, youtube TV, prime video, max, espn streaming apps or even blu ray uhd player with 4k movies
No problem, i wish i could let everyone know this. New TVs needs more data to look beautiful but people use the same sources from there old 1080p hd TV and expect 4k to look better on sources they use to play. It’s like going out to buy a racing car and using regular gas. It would kill the performance.
@@TechSteve very true indeed, ,, you could do a video anyways if you ever have time,,, and put up tricky answers that aren't in all the videos out there , and on lots of models and brands , I know people will Respect it and the ohnesty , but it's a lot of work too
55" U8n features up to 1800 nits & U7n 55" up to 1500 Considerably closer in brightness than 65 & up between the 2 models. Both share the same High View Pro processor & many other spec similarities, making the value to performance choice between the 2 models a much narrower purchase call at the 55" size. I've had the U7n for 3 mos & Enjoy it considerably.
Thank you so much. I’m was thinking of purchasing the s90d to replace my Hisense H9g. But because of the S90D price compared to the Hisense u8n I’m actually considering sticking with Hisense. What do you think? Great video by the way.
Great content. I would like a PC Productivity review for the U8N 55". As evermore developers, designers, and content creators are using TVs as their main monitor. I would add side-by-side of IDEs (like visual studio code), the Godot Engine, and perhaps Adobe apps. Some text comparison to say a 32" 1080p and 4k monitors would be most helpful for that group, including gamers.
A few things I do not understand, mostly what in the world is High refresh rate mode? I’m using a ps5 hdmi 4 most settings are automatic. My series X is set 4k 120 all options checked VRR etc… freesync is checked on tv and High refresh rate mode is unchecked looks great Turing HRRM on it looks the same lol. I’m just curious what it’s for and when to use it if I even wanted to
I need to choose between 85” u7n or 75” u8n. I want to know if size is worth the picture tradeoff. 85” will be a stretch in my small living room. But I’m likely moving soon
@TechSteve good point! I didn't think about region. I'm looking at a new tv and hisense u8n comes highly regarded from TH-cam reviewers but reddit is full of bad reviews ( i know it's reddit).
I think what’s happening is that people are looking to save money then complain about the short falls, the Sony Bravia 9 is a well planned, great TV and people pick that apart too. Yet we go to a sports bar and we’re happy watching a 20 year old hd tv with dust on it.
Steve- On my 75u75n I notice that the normal picture modes disappear every time I use my Roku stick to watch netflix, hbo, amazon ,etc. Only modes available are Dolby dark, iq, custom, game. The Filmmaker, vivid, standard, etc have all disappeared, any idea what could be causing this? Thought they were initially present when first installing tv but now are gone.
The u8n is definitely brighter but if the u7n is as bright as the u8h then that's perfect cuz that tv is really bright. the 85 inch u7n is 500 dollars cheaper than the 75 inch u8n which is 1800
So what I saw is the u8n tv is brighter than the u7n. Bottom line, I’ll be getting the u8n when it hopefully goes on sale. Will these TVs go on sale and does anyone know the best time to buy? Boxing Day or Black Friday? Thanks!
What people don't talk about is how these extremely bright TVs are unsuitable for dark room viewing. Those nits are only relevant in bright rooms. In a dark room, even the U6Ns brightness is adequate.

@@TechSteve No, you can tell how saturated is the excessive bright and color of the U8N. You can see more detail on the U7N as it is more balanced.
