Hi Dr. Taylor - another GREAT video (I love them ALL!). I also saw you speaking with Angie on Hot and Flashy - THANK YOU and THANKS TO ANGIE for arranging this, it was a major home run! We are so fortunate to have you as an honest, unbiased resource because as you probably hear ALL THE TIME, women are grossly lacking in this type of information. As Angie said, we are typically given a Rx for anti-depressants rather than an honest education to guide us through our OWN decision-making process. THANKS A MILLION TIMES OVER for all you do for women, it's greatly appreciated!!!
I love you Barbie! Have a blessed day & thank you! Especially for being an example of an authentic woman! You know who you are and you live it! Thanks for all the menopause help. It’s been a great education so far. I have a long way to go. I’m only on video 40 something 😊
I’ve been watching your videos from the very beginning. All your videos are very educational but this one for me is exactly what I needed to learn . Thank you
Menopause Taylor, yes you are the best 😂😂! although I can't hear every word you say! But many of the words I can hear and I look them up in a dictionary. Thank you Stockholm for educating!
Barbie, in addition to how valuable you are to us menopausal women, your educating us, nutritionally, is equally valuable! The “diet” and “health” industry just keeps me confused on what I should or shouldn’t be eating. Because of all of the GMOs and our depleted soil, I’m reading more and more that we shouldn’t be eating grains! Also, legumes, as well as grains, for menopausal women, can cause inflammation due to all of the pesticides and so forth. Thank you for helping us make sense of all of this erroneous information that’s bombarding us all!
Hello Barbie and THANK YOU for the amazing education on menopause!!! I discovered your TH-cam channel 3 months ago and I am watching them IN ORDER 😄. Any advice on how to digest better plant food for people with IBS-D?
Radu, This is precisely the kind of thing for which I do one-on-one consultations. You definitely need one if you have IBS. I cannot tailor things specifically to you in a comment box. It requires much more information than you can give me here, and you deserve much more information than I can give you here. I am very curious and passionate about nutrition, I attended a detailed course about it, but every time you make a video on nutrition for us I can't wait to watch it because I know I will learn something new... and this time was no different! I did not know blending was destroying fiber as well as juicing. i thought blending was ok. Lucky me I love crunchy, so I am not that much into blending. Thank you for what you do for us, thank you !!!! Ciao from flooded Genoa, Italy

I was so glad you were there, Lorraine. It was very special for me that you are all the way to Dublin just to see me speak. I hope you enjoyed the event.
Hi Dr. T! We did my consult from Hawaii last week. Saw my dr today and convinced him to switch me to prometria. It was hard b/c he was adamant the progesterone had ZERO to do with the PMs like symptoms we discussed. He insisted it was the estrogen that caused those issues and perhaps cut the est back to .5. but I prevailed. Praying the relief comes with the new med!!!! 🙏👍
I'm sorry I can't correspond about your consultation matters here. It's not private or practical. But, I'll address this with you during your next consultation.
Hi!! I love your videos!! I feel like I am in school! I am learning so much!! I am 53 years old. My last period was 8 months ago. I asked my obgy to put me on a low dose birth control pill to manage my annoying symptoms of perimenopause. I have been taking them for 3 weeks, not much improvement. I had a tubal ligation after my third child. Do I even need to take birth control since I can’t get pregnant anyway?? Should I automatically take HRT? Am I too young? Should I wait the full year without a period?! Kind of confused. Thank you for your time. You are an angel. Ps I know this video was about fiber and not about perimenopause. I just needed an answer. I apologize.
I've been vegetarian for 22 years. At some point I had terrible cramps that made me really ill. When the doctor told me I was constipated, I couldn't believe it! With all the fibre I was having.. It turned out that I wasn't drinking enough water. My fibre turned into cork in my intestine.. 🙈
What about them? You can use whatever you want. But that doesn't mean it will help you prevent a heart attack. This video is specific to heart attacks.

Thank you for this information! Is it correct to say that the fiber in plant milks, is not valuable for the body? My favorite soy milk recently went from 4 grams of fiber per cup to only 1 gram, which I was disappointed about. If I understand correctly, the processing of the soybeans from whole to “milk” made the fiber “useless” anyway?
It a depends on the actual product that constitutes your soy milk. And that depends on where you live and how much your food industry processes food. From what you've written, it sounds like you cannot rely on this particular product to put your health above the industry's health.
@@MenopauseTaylor Thank you! I understand your reply. But generally speaking, does the processing of whole soybeans into soy milk alter the “quality” of the fiber? (Your smoothie example in this video caused me to wonder about this.) Can “micronized” fiber even be called fiber anymore? Can it really count towards the minimum of 25 (or so) grams of fiber/day they’re recommended for women in the U.S.? I’d love to get an answer to this! (On a side note - I thought I’d chosen well with that soy milk. 😊 It had two ingredients - water and whole organic soybeans. I loved the earthy taste of it. Now, after the change, it still has only two ingredients, but no longer “whole” soybeans. The fat content went up significantly, and fiber down, as I mentioned above. ☹️)
Yes, All sorts of things dry up at menopause. I published a video on just that: It was video 141. This is why I tell you to watch the videos in order. If you don't you're shooting yourself in the foot (or the head).
There is no such thing as "best." It depends on what's best for each individual. No factory-created bread is without preservatives that you don't need. If you could buy all raw ingredients and make your bread yourself, that would be the healthiest option.
thanks for this lesson Dr Taylor. we use a Vitamix blender to make our smoothies (it beats with dull blades does not shear) does this make any difference regarding fiber?
Oh no! I have a vegetable smoothie every morning for breakfast. No fruit involved but spinach, avocado, raw carrot and raw beet plus some flaxseeds and physillium husk and a squeeze of of lemon juice. Now I won’t eat these foods separately whole on their own. Is it still better to have this smoothie or just have a bowl of porridge instead? Some fibre remains surely?
@@MenopauseTaylor So some fibre remains in a smoothie, say if I don’t blend it completely but leave chunks in or something, would this still be nutritious to a degree?
Thank you so much for the information you are providing. I have your book and have watched ALL videos leading up to this one. I am also reading ‘The China Study,’ on account of you. I’ve dramatically changed my eating habits although I’ve always been really good about it. I did want to cry though when I did the calculation on my morning oatmeal and it didn’t meet the cut as being good for your heart. I am going to continue eating it though since it involves no animal protein, at all. 😭
You get to choose what you do. That's the power of having the information with which to make informed choices. Just do as much as you can do for YOUR situation. I'm very proud of you, my dear.
Great, helpful video. Thank you! Unfortunately, 3 months after I started taking low dose estrogen and progesterone, my cholesterol went up, my HDL went down with 20 points, my triglycerides doubled, my blood sugar went to 126 from 114, my TSH went from 2.3 to 5. 6. I eat healthy, exercise regularly , I am 112 pounds, perimenopausal. I am so confused with what is better in this case, I guess I prefer osteoporosis over the heart attack. What is your opinion on that, Dr. Taylor?
I never "recommend" anything. All I do is give you facts and help you tailor them to your own personal situation. Psyllium husk is merely roughage to prevent constipation. If you eat enough fruit and veggies, you probably gain nothing from it. But if you don't it may help you.
The only video in which I tell you much about myself is a Q&A video that aired on October 2, 2018. It is not a numbered video because it's not educational, per se. In it, I did tell you what I eat in a day.
Awesome and sad to hear about smoothies as they are my favourite part of day!!!!! How would one eat flaxseeds if they are not crushed as believe not well digested when in seed form? Is this then true???
You should crush flaxseeds. But crushing and blending are two completely different things. And flaxseeds are one of the few foods that are better crushed.
Great content as always. Q: smoothie left everything in it, why the fiber was “destroyed “? Don’t our teeth grinds the fruit any way? I do think that it kind of destroy some -because the amount of vegetables you put into the grinder is HUGE , much more than the salads as a comparison
Hello ! Just a question I am sorry if sound silly but what it is HRT.... and what happens if a person Star taking hormones before starting the menopause, when I say before I mean that there are no signs of menopause yet, is it harmful?
Angie, you can start HRT any time. I can tell by your question that you have definitely not watched my videos starting with the first one and in order. And, if you don't watch them that way, you will never get the education you deserve. Your question is so basic that I can't begin to address it adequately here. So, there are many different ways you can go about learning what you need to know: (1) Start with the very first video and watch them all in order. That little number after each title tells you the order. (2) Get my book from MenopauseTaylor.ME and read it in chronological order (3) Get the webinars at MenopauseTaylor.ME and watch each chapter in order (4) Get the DVD of the seminar at MenopauseTaylor.ME & watch it all. It consists of 2 DVDs that are my 14-hour seminar. (5) Schedule a one-on-one consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME to get the education AND have it tailored specifically to YOU
I think it does include a few animal products. I think it attempts to carer to those who are not willing to give up all animal products. But there may actually be more than one version of the original South Beach diet. You know how it is ... copy cats.
A lot those foods you listed high in FODMAPS( FODMAP is an acronym, derived from "Fermentable Oligo-, Di-, Mono-saccharides And Polyols), I have severe IBS-D, I am told to avoid these foods More women are diagnose with IBS and have similar issue. I'm wondering what's left to eat.
You are correct. Many individuals with inflammatory bowel syndromes are unable to eat high-fiber foods. No tow people are alike. You have to listen to YOUR body.
Aren't there vitamins in fruits, besides sugar and fiber? I understand that juicing removes fiber (smoothies don't) and that there is sugar in it , but are there not beneficial vitamins in them as well?
The vitamins remain. But, sugar is the problem. And we're talking about preventing a heart attack here ... in which case the vitamins are not the issue.
I’m devastated! I love smoothies and I load it up with lots of different fruits and add spinach, cilantro and water. I thought it was a great way to get fibre vitamins and minerals. I thought I was doing a good thing. Nooo.
Well, you're not doing a bad thing. You're just modifying how much benefit you get. Do not ever feel like you cannot choose to do something, no matter what you learn here. This is YOUR menopause YOUR way. You do not have to justify your choices to anybody else.
@@MenopauseTaylor of course, but I’m now realising I’m consuming way to much sugar. It’s not the craving of alcohol that is my vice it’s the sugar, all kinds and all of it. ♥️
@@juliestanley7341 This is true for many women. And the fact that there are 56 different kinds of sugar hidden in all the foods prepared or packaged by the food industry doesn't help matters.
G'day Beautiful Barbie!!! Wow..... I'm soooooo surprised to learn about the blending & smoothies etc - I see so many TH-camrs go on and on about juicing..... unfortunately they think they're all being super healthy!!! They need to watch your videos honey.... maybe I could send them the links!!! :p hehehe cheers from sunny breezy Brisbane!!!
I'm shocked at the misinformation I see on TH-cam and the Internet. When I think about he fact that these two resources are the only ones most people use, it gives me great concern.
I cant eat whole grains. It kills my gut. Anus get inflamed. Its horrible. I like the idea if carbs being divided by fiber but yikes. I may find I cant eat much of anything besides beans after watching this. Lol. Pick and choose right!? I enjoy how you get my mind thinking and going. 😁
I struggle with constipation. When I add more fiber it is WORSE! I drink a ton of water. If I add more fiber I wont have a BM for 5 days.(sorry for the TMI)
This is actually the case for some women. The key is to experiment to determine what's right FOR YOU. I give you facts. Your job is to apply them to you and do what's best for you.
all this time i have been using smart balance margarine thinking it was good , because it says "supports healthy cholesterol levels" ....i just read that it contains "palm oil" ! ive been using it for years :-0
Be careful with any claim that says "Supports ..." It means that it is not capable of improving anything. It's for maintenance only. It's how the supplement industry gets you to buy things that you assume will help you. The food industry is granted the same misleading rules.
You can eat all sorts of things. If you want to tailor all the facts specifically to YOU, schedule a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME. That way, I can help you make choices that will work for your lifestyle and preferences.
Hi, actually do eat bones every chance I get :D in Sardines which have bones that can be eaten, and also Bone Broth made out of fish, chicken or marrow beef bones. You dissolve the bones as much as possible into the broth and then drink it. I also eat the ends of soft chicken bones. Yum! LOL
Lol...there you go with the F word...fart. Lol I was told to eat some pineapple after you eat beans...that way you can make Hawaiian music! Lol I love my veggies, beans and more! Thank you for such an eye opener with juices and smoothies. When I make my almond milk, I save the pulp and make bran muffins or pancakes from it.
Thanks for all the information you share.. i watched your video with Hot n Flashy and would like to ask if you have any recommendation for the estrogen vaginal cream?
There are many options for estrogen vaginal creams. And there are products other than creams that are specifically for vaginal dryness. You should watch all my videos in order to get the education you really deserve. I introduced these products in video 33. The number after each title tells you the order. You'll discover that I don't TELL you to take this or that or RECOMMEND this or that. Instead, I tach you all the facts, guide you in tailoring them to YOU, and help you decide for yourself what's best for YOU. That's power! (Menopower). But you have to start at video 1 and watch in order to have any power at all.
You're getting ahead of yourself. I will address HRT and heart attacks in videos 17, 178, & 179. I will leave nothing unaddressed, I assure you, my dear.
Carbs are killers for diabetics. Carbs = sugar; therefore, when you subtract fiber and any sugar alcohols you get the sugar count for that food and ya, you usually put it back on the shelf. Diabetics are best on keto and benefit because of low carb when they are true omnivores. If they prefer to be vegetarian or vegan, then they can still do keto. Keto includes lots of fruits and veggies, most of which I don't like

@@Joanna0301 Ha! You know me sooo well!
Can u tell me wht video u have posted if Wht y eat in a day
The only video in which I tell you much about myself is a Q&A video that aired on October 2, 2018.
100% agree with you on juicing! Never liked juicing! So... much sugar! Thank you! Great video👍😃
Great content as always. Q: smoothie left everything in it, why the fiber was “destroyed “? Don’t our teeth grinds the fruit any way?
I do think that it kind of destroy some -because the amount of vegetables you put into the grinder is HUGE , much more than the salads as a comparison
The blender destroys fiber to a much greater extent than your teeth do.
So, there are many different ways you can go about learning what you need to know:
(1) Start with the very first video and watch them all in order. That little number after each title tells you the order.
(2) Get my book from MenopauseTaylor.ME and read it in chronological order
(3) Get the webinars at MenopauseTaylor.ME and watch each chapter in order
(4) Get the DVD of the seminar at MenopauseTaylor.ME & watch it all. It consists of 2 DVDs that are my 14-hour seminar.
(5) Schedule a one-on-one consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME to get the education AND have it tailored specifically to YOU
Thank you thank you! I thought my smoothies were good for me!
So the corn is good for us or bad?
The more fiber the faster the transit time
The smoothie destroys the fiber but chewing also destroys the fiber???
Just watched this again. Is it just fruit bad in smoothies or is it vegetables too? Spinach pesto has no fiber benefits?
I was checking out the South beach diet I notice animal products are listed. Maybe I have the wrong one.
I think it does include a few animal products. I think it attempts to carer to those who are not willing to give up all animal products. But there may actually be more than one version of the original South Beach diet. You know how it is ... copy cats.
How about cooked plants - does the cooking destroy fiber as well?
Cooking breaks down fiber to some degree. But it's different degrees for different foods.
I’ve had good luck with CDB drops for hot flashes. Anyone else?
Excellent! Excellent! Excellent!
I'm glad you liked it sweet Shell.
As hard as I try I still don't get enough fiber in my day. Are there any fiber supplements you like?
A lot those foods you listed high in FODMAPS( FODMAP is an acronym, derived from "Fermentable Oligo-, Di-, Mono-saccharides And Polyols), I have severe IBS-D, I am told to avoid these foods More women are diagnose with IBS and have similar issue. I'm wondering what's left to eat.
You are correct. Many individuals with inflammatory bowel syndromes are unable to eat high-fiber foods. No tow people are alike. You have to listen to YOUR body.
Ugh! Just bought a $300 juicer. What about wheatgrass? Same issue?
It doesn't matter what you put in the juicer ... wheatgrass or anything else. The effect is the same: You remove the fiber.
@@MenopauseTaylor so, with this information, would soups/stews/bisques fall into the same category as smoothies?
Aren't there vitamins in fruits, besides sugar and fiber? I understand that juicing removes fiber (smoothies don't) and that there is sugar in it , but are there not beneficial vitamins in them as well?
The vitamins remain. But, sugar is the problem. And we're talking about preventing a heart attack here ... in which case the vitamins are not the issue.
@@MenopauseTaylor oh yes, it makes sense. So both sugar and salt are not good when it comes to heart, from what I gather...
@@JuicyJuice1313 I'll address salt it he video on high blood pressure (184).
Thank you so mucho 🏝🌴🤗
Of course, my dear.
Thank you! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️🇦🇺
My pleasure.
No one ever talks about what folks can eat if they hate veggies!☹️
You can eat all sorts of things.
If you want to tailor all the facts specifically to YOU, schedule a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME. That way, I can help you make choices that will work for your lifestyle and preferences.
Hi, actually do eat bones every chance I get :D in Sardines which have bones that can be eaten, and also Bone Broth made out of fish, chicken or marrow beef bones. You dissolve the bones as much as possible into the broth and then drink it. I also eat the ends of soft chicken bones. Yum! LOL
Bone broths do contain a lot of good vitamins and minerals.
Lol...there you go with the F word...fart. Lol
I was told to eat some pineapple after you eat beans...that way you can make Hawaiian music! Lol
I love my veggies, beans and more!
Thank you for such an eye opener with juices and smoothies.
When I make my almond milk, I save the pulp and make bran muffins or pancakes from it.
Wow! You're way ahead. I've never heard about the pineapple.
Lol
What's that about farts? My sister will appreciate this one and learn from it too. Thanks 😆
You and your sister are so welcome!
@@MenopauseTaylor Thank you 💚💜
@@nazarethmaeve2302 It's my pleasure.
Wow so my partner who farts 120 times /sec is HEALTHY......
So it's not just mine? 😮
Should HRT be part of the "Risk factor for heart attack"????
You're getting ahead of yourself. I will address HRT and heart attacks in videos 17, 178, & 179. I will leave nothing unaddressed, I assure you, my dear.
Carbs are killers for diabetics. Carbs = sugar; therefore, when you subtract fiber and any sugar alcohols you get the sugar count for that food and ya, you usually put it back on the shelf. Diabetics are best on keto and benefit because of low carb when they are true omnivores. If they prefer to be vegetarian or vegan, then they can still do keto. Keto includes lots of fruits and veggies, most of which I don't like
You're a scientist in disguise.
😀😀😁
Keto is absolutely unhealthy.
