    Hello! 👋🏼 I wanted to add that I measured mine own PD with Zenni’s PD measuring video for guidance and that was super helpful! I now know the glasses measurements that I prefer and will definitely be working off that when buying new ones in the future ☺️ I also wanted to add that Zenni took 3 weeks to get shipped to me while EyeBuyDirect took 1.5! That's the main reason I would prefer EyeBuyDirect more!

      I have ordered from both sites and they are equally good quality and prescription wise. The only problem I have noticed is that usually EBD only offers glasses that they are discontinuing at a low price. Zenni seems to offer more glasses in the under $20.00 price range. I think shipping currently is not very good. Both sites ship from Hong Kong and must through customs which can cause a delay for both sites. Really their both very good sites over all. So I would say order from either one if they have the glasses your looking for.

    I have been a licensed dispensing optician for 45 years having started in my father's optical shop in 1965 and can tell you that plastic frames will almost always creek a little. I retired 6 years ago and sold my store plus moved 2000 miles away so now I order my glasses on line and find that Eye By has the best quality for a on line company.

  • @soundmanpt
    @soundmanpt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +22

    I was an optician for many years and as such fitted thousands of patients with their glasses. I can tell you why you were told not to get certain frames for your glasses. When you have a relatively high or strong prescription you generally don't want the edges of your lenses sticking out of the frame. The bigger the frame the more the thickness will be seen. When you do clean your glasses, which apparently you seldom do, I'm sure you're able to notice that your lenses are the thinnest in the center of your lenses and thicker on the edges. So a smaller frame with a bolder plastic frame tends to hide the thickness of your lenses quite well. Now if you don't mind the thickness showing then you can get whatever you want. Now you can also get "high index" lenses which are a nice option and really helps to make your lenses thinner. In looking at your previous videos you're apparently wearing contacts since you aren't wearing glasses in any of them. So I was glad to hear you say that you're going through a glasses faze. Glasses are so much better health wise, for your eyes than contacts. And you certainly look quite attractive wearing. The trick is having a nice selection or as i prefer to call it, a nice "glasses wardrobe" to choose from each day. The problem with wearing glasses is when you only have one pair and you are seen wearing those same glasses everyday. Boring! Am i right? You want and need your glasses to be a nice fashion accessory, not a metical device for your eyes. If you've been in a boutique in the last 10 years or so, I'm sure you may have noticed that they all have several racks of Non=prescription glasses. Those are for all the young ladies that find glasses a cute accessory and want the "glasses look" but don't actually need glasses. Trust me those boutiques wouldn't have those racks in their stores if they weren't selling a good number of those glasses. So by being able to order a really cute pair of glasses in your prescription for about the same price as a Big Mac Combo Meal is a great way to enlarge your "glasses wardrobe".

      What would you recommend for someone that's used to varilux lenses? This is my last year to use the an I have, and I definitely can't afford varilux. My Dr told me to not shop online, but I can't afford these high prices. Thanks in advance.

    • @soundmanpt
      @soundmanpt ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@WW-kw3rt So the glasses you were wearing in your video were single vision from what I could tell and what you even said. So am i right that your doctor is wanting you to start rearing progressives when you get your next glasses. Is that right or am I missing something? Varilux lenses claim to provide a more natural vision and more like single vision glasses rather than progressives. Your glasses are going to be more expensive anyway when you switch from single vision to progressives. Both with Zenni and EBD. But hundreds less than the Varilux from a local optical store. When you make the change this will be your first time wearing progressives I think you will do fine with regular progressives once your eyes adjust to wearing progressives. Unlike your current single vision glasses that your lenses are -7.00 from top to bottom and side to side. Now your lenses are going to actually have three different prescriptions. The main area will be your -7.00 distance prescription but slightly lower you are going to have a midrange area that's not as strong as your -7.00 distance which you will need to learn to use when looking at things only a short distance away. The then a bit lower down from the midrange you will have what is known as your "add" or reading prescription. At first you can expect some issues with your eyes finding those "sweet" spots in your glasses. Something tells me you're a fast learner and you get the hang of rather quickly.
      Now I think maybe one reason your doctor is skeptical of the on-line sites for your glasses is because of them now being progressives. So each part of your lenses need to be extremely accurate as far as "sight height" goes. Your single vision glasses don't have that issue to worry about. So he or she doesn't want you ordering glasses that could be more of a problem than helpful to you and your eyes. Here's the solution to that problem and you may even want to talk to your doctor about this as well. it could make him or her more acceptable to ordering your glasses on-line. DON'T EVEN CONSIDER ANY GLASSES THAT DOESN"T HAVE ADJUSTABLE NOSE PADS. Why you may ask? By having adjustable nose pads your glasses can easily be adjusted up or down on your nose and still good very good but more importantly pacing your lenses in front of your eyes where they need to be. Molded plastic frames don't allow hardly any adjusting up or down.

    FYI the acetate is a higher quality plastic than the regular plastic frames. You should opt for those when you shop EBD.

    Thanks for posting this video. Buying my first online glasses after many years of not needing glasses for many years. Very exciting to hear about the options.
    I used to have -8/-9 and an astigmatism. 15+ years ago I had Lasik. Best investment of my adult life. Went from being unable to function without my glasses to 20/20 for at least 10 years and now I am back to about -1.5, which means I can still do normal things without glasses. Such a huge quality of life difference. I used to fear losing or breaking my glasses, now I might forget them sometimes.

      @@mrm6110 IMO it was 100% worth it. I researched my options and paid a premium for the highest rated facility with the latest tech. I imagine it is even more economical and advanced now, but I won't be thinking about having a second go around until my vision stabilizes.... although now that I also need readers, it isn't as appealing.

    The Jasmine glasses frame bug me how on the right left side there is completely clear area with none of the brown color pattern. Just throws the hole thing off. On the photo stock photo of ordering the frames it shows it was supposed to different more even patter. I'd return them for that reason.

    Yes I had two pairs from Zenni with blue filter on them. Both felt off one pair I returned the other I didn't bother. All the other pairs without were fine. I would definitely suggest looking for a free light filter for your computer screen. I have one it adjusts the blue hue on the computer screen to a more orangey yellow tone that easier on the eyes. Its called f.lux It takes some time to get used to it but it helps with eye strain.

    I think you would look better with rectangular or square shaped frames because you have a round face. I also have a round face as well.
    But, hey....Get what you personally like. That's all that matters. They still look good on you.

    Hey! I Like all of the glasses, but sorry to hear that 2 out of 3 of your Zennies felt off. You may already know this, but if you think they got the prescription wrong, you have 30 days from the date you receive them to call Zenni and they will let you return them to check the accuracy of the prescription. If they turn out to be wrong, they will remake and ship them to you at no extra cost. They will also give you the option to just get 100% store credit (minus shipping) and try another pair, if you want to go that route. So, why not give either one of those two options a shot. Zenni may be cheap, but why waste your money on glasses you won't wear? I'm a long time Zenni customer myself and most of the time they get it right, but I have had one or two that weren't quite right and I just contacted them. They have really good customer service.

    I really wish there were a TH-cam video that was aimed at buying glasses so you can see rather than how you look wearing them. I'll never be cute but I suspect you would be happier with you glasses if you paid more attentiom to Pupillary Distance and bridge size. I have trouble finding frames to fit my wide head and very small nose. Zenni has many frames but only a couple in Adult large with a 16mm bridge. Looking at your selections, I wonder if you paid any attention to the bridge measurement. I'm wondering if the glasses that gave you problems had the correct Pupillary Distance (I'm 64mm, you probably are not). A high prescription not properly centered is asking for headaches. Did you pay extra for the lightweight lenses on any or all? I have zero interest in colored glasses since I am a photographer and red, yellow or green tints really mess with your color vision. Did you consider the guides relating to face shape and frames that look right?
    Enjoyable video. Talk to your eye doctor about things to consider above and beyond "cute".
