    I use hoppe's 9 my whole life,an now also use hoppe's 9 copper remover, for copper removal on my rifles, works great no harm on barrel, what you have on the table is pretty much my cleaning agents Thanks

    Great video. Thank you. This is the type of content that really helps "Fast Track"-meaning less time and money wasted on finding the products that are the most effective and cost effective. I was told by an older gentleman that Glock recommends Hoppes as a cleaning agent and Rem oil. That was probably correct back in the 80`s when Glock first really was the pioneer & standard. Since then, many more products have come to market & the quality of "The New Stuff" simply was not available. I am really careful, as some of the new stuff is just plain expensive and the results are just not there. It is the same way with anything. Look how we are treating our car engines etc. Take care-God bless.

    It doesn't matter which product you use, whichever floats your boat. What is important is to clean it. I find Ed's Red to work just as good as anyone's CLP and one can mix that up by the gallon. Thanks for the vid.

    IMO...CLP just does it all. The Army uses it for lubrication on snipers, carbines, machine guns, and heavies. It prevents rust, it cleans, and it lubes.

      mil spec doesn't mean anything. contracting officers purchase the cheapest junk that satisfies the minimum specs and sow. not saying it's junk, just don't automatically assume it's good because the military uses it.

    • @NorthwestMariner
      @NorthwestMariner 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@b.lane0309 I didn't say "mil spec" I was talking about personal experience based on the fact that I was in the US Army for 12 years, went through two different armorers courses, and know how well CLP performs definitely in austere conditions. I've yet to see anything that works as well in the pissing rain, pouring snow, or literally in sand storms and I used just about everything here in both Iraq and Afghanistan. CLP simply out performs most.

    I don’t believe in combo products . Like wash~n~wax for my automotive finish . You wash the thing , then you wax it . Or like shampoo and conditioner in one . How can you get your hair clean with conditioner getting in the way of the shampoo or get a good conditioning when the shampoo is getting in the way . It just makes no sense . I wanna clean my guns and then condition them . No classic car ever won a car show using wash~n~wax . I’ll stick with Hoppes #9 solvent which will clean better and follow up with Hoppes oil which will protect better . Cutting corners just doesn’t cut it .

  • @bobsmith1965
    @bobsmith1965 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The high powered solvents should only be used into a sink or bucket. Its all in the prep. Plus it will get all that gunk out of the places you can only get by disassembling your gun and who is going to do that?

  • @robbyritter4245
    @robbyritter4245 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You can make your own Hoppe's #9 by mixing a little alcohol and turpentine, in a nutshell that's all it is. If you want it to smell good add a dash of your favorite cologne.

    • @NorthwestMariner

    • @JackedRado71

      I had the same issue with gunzilla clp. Great product if you shoot a lot. But it’s organic (basically vegetable oil) and will breakdown within a month. I’d grab hunting guns out for the season that have been in the safe and they were locked up with orange goop. Went back to hoppes 9 (petroleum based) and they were good to go the next season

    • @bobsmith1965
      @bobsmith1965 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do the Break Free bore foam, it has a tube and will shoot the foam all the way down the barrel just plug the end up with a patch and let it soak for 15 minutes, give it a little scrub and clean as a whistle. Usually repeat but run patches thru the second time then what ever oil you use.

  • @bobsmith1965
    @bobsmith1965 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Break Free Power Blast to deep clean hard to get areas and Break Free Bore Cleaning Foam for the barrel. Can't stand the orange Hoppe's oil since it makes a mess when not in use, very poor design. But dozens of other lubricants will do the job.

    Is Hoppes #9 ok to use on polymer frame handgun lowers?

    • @nadda8681
      @nadda8681 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @David Brown
      Polymer is used to both transport and store caustic chemicals (typically in 55 gallon drums). Gun solvent will cause no harm on a polymer frame.

    I refuse to believe that's how hoppes(hops) is pronounced

    • @earlyetman5588
      @earlyetman5588 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is how it pronounced, right from Hoppes themselves. Hops are for rabbits and beer.

    • @Arthur172B
      @Arthur172B 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I once took a course in conversational German. I might try to say "Hopp-eh". "Hops" is for brewing beer. Confusing? In Poland, Poles might not appreciate being called "Pol-ehs", so forget the last "e". Polish is extremely difficult, even for natives. They also have trouble following all their own rules, very complicated, because Poles have an advanced language and vocabulary to deal with. Their full dictionary is immensely heavy. Poland had to learn how to negotiate with all their warring neighbors, to use diplomacy instead of cannons. It did work. Back then. Don't try this with Chinese Reds, because nothing will work, except for a well-developed, military-grade virus-war, or use Vitamin B-52, where Rx doses can be air-mailed directly. But that means the US and the West will be defeated, eventually. We are SO sensitive to criticism. So, pray for Uncle Joe and his office-sweetheart/diktator to minimize the damage they WILL create. Say..."Crate-eh"...on and on...this is FUN, eh? Works in Canada, too.

    I have used both Hoppes and Breakfree to clean and lube firearms. Both have their applications and work well. However, both seem to be somewhat toxic and irritate my skin and sinuses. I only use Ballistol for as my CLP. Works great and the firearm becomes quicker and easier to clean after multiple cleanings. ballistol.com/
