never gonna understand why daiwa went cheap on gears ....same old cast zync gears for such a beautifull reel is a crime....i got this and its absolutely a piece of art...but theres always a stradic fl for the same amount of money if you want refinement and durability (cold forged aluminium gear) and ofcourse penn slammer iv dx if you re after a litterallly indestructible reel with guts made of true steel...i like the reel but daiwa you could do better for the price ...

You just have to leave them alone and they'll come back! Stripers came back once people realized that you cant take a fish until it has replaced itself! Common sense sense, right?

Great video. Thank you. This is the type of content that really helps "Fast Track"-meaning less time and money wasted on finding the products that are the most effective and cost effective. I was told by an older gentleman that Glock recommends Hoppes as a cleaning agent and Rem oil. That was probably correct back in the 80`s when Glock first really was the pioneer & standard. Since then, many more products have come to market & the quality of "The New Stuff" simply was not available. I am really careful, as some of the new stuff is just plain expensive and the results are just not there. It is the same way with anything. Look how we are treating our car engines etc. Take care-God bless.

i didnt realize the Stella SW was a IPX8 rated reel .

All Chinese made garbage. Penn reels today aren't even made by Penn. They are rebranded pflueger reels with the Penn name slapped on. The only reels I buy are older American made Penns, or Shimano reels. A lot of Shimano reels are made in Malaysia, but they're much better quality than China. I bought a Penn pursuit 5 years ago. It lasted 3 months until the main gear stripped on a 13 pound bluefish. My $15 Shimano IX spinning reel is 7 years old and still works fine.

I have never used the "Star" reel. But you talk about the holes drilled to let out the water and sand. Well it will let that water right into the reel. The holes are the whole reason I would never buy that reel. I see someone mentioned it leeks water at the pinion. I bet the holes are the cause. The star is not for me when I can buy the 704Z that is a proven fishing reel.

Was looking hard at a saragosa 6000, but this is sealed better and has a better line cap and more drag.. I hit into large river stripers and this would be perfect for what I need.. reviews are great on this reel

Those old penns were simple, really inexpensive, and you could haul in a 50 lber at montauk with no problem. They were the first to be made bailless also, and the line capacity was in the hundreds of yards. That's wat we fished at montauk and cape cod 30 years ago. The good old days. I would never consider a spinning reel today without a skirted spool. They got to be kidding with that for $700. Even my van staals are only skirted spool models

The Star leaks water right at the pinion. That’s a deathknell for a saltwater reel. It is a piece of crap! The 704Z does not. The 7o4Z has a graphite side plate, not plastic. I would choose the Penn over this Star anytime. No one should ever buy the Star. I won’t list everything that is wrong but it is lengthy. Don’t buy it!

I don’t believe in combo products . Like wash~n~wax for my automotive finish . You wash the thing , then you wax it . Or like shampoo and conditioner in one . How can you get your hair clean with conditioner getting in the way of the shampoo or get a good conditioning when the shampoo is getting in the way . It just makes no sense . I wanna clean my guns and then condition them . No classic car ever won a car show using wash~n~wax . I’ll stick with Hoppes #9 solvent which will clean better and follow up with Hoppes oil which will protect better . Cutting corners just doesn’t cut it .

I got a bore snake I use on my glock barrel works great it makes the barrel shiny
