    I've been researching many packs lately for my next pack, and out of all of them that I've looked at for what I need, this is the one. I've seen lots of videos on the Rush 24, but you are the guy who has sold me on it. Well done videos and info on this pack!

      SurvivorMetalMan Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. The 24 is a great pack, as is all the RUSH packs from 5.11 but the 24 gets the most use. It's actually sitting on the seat next to me while I'm typing this. Lol

      TheTacticalDefender I like the 12 too, but the 24 will be good for me doing overnighters, camping, and stowing gear for that. But a 12, and even the 72 are on the list. The design is fantastic, and looks to be pretty rugged.

    Great review Tim. Picked up my Rush 12 a couple of weeks ago. Unbelievable build quality. More room than I was expecting. Perfect for a day pack. The water bladder compartment is a great place to store maps, writing pads etc. The 24 is next on my list for weekend hikes and climbs. Stay safe, stay happy.

    Once you put your water bottles in the side pockets it takes away from the space inside the bag. That's the only issue I have with the that bag. On my bag there's no molly on the bottom to strap anything. Mine is an older bag, I see it has it now.

    I think the Rush24 is the worst bag I have. Yes the internal compartments are fantastic and its got space inside, but it seriously makes your back sweat when wearing it and if wearing it over just a thin shirt, it is incredibly uncomfortable on the shoulders and neck. It doesn't seem to sit correctly on the shoulders with the yoke and the padding doesn't seem to be doing anything. When carrying loads, I also find this bag causes pain down either side of my neck. I have used Berghaus rucksacks and Deuter bags, which I have found to be much more comfortable with loads. I may be reverting to a Berghaus in the future..

    • @GearReviewDepot
      @GearReviewDepot  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe it, I know a few people who don't care for that sort of bag at all, let alone the problems you mentioned. As for me, the 24 is perfect, it's my absolute favorite pack. Fortunately I have none of the issues you mentioned. I review and own a lot of packs, all of them great in their own way but I constantly find myself going back to the 24 in between pack reviews. Luckily there's lots of brands/packs out there for all of us to find that one that just works great for us. Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to comment. Be well and stay safe.

    • @Elfin4
      @Elfin4 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I think the bag is made really well with robust material, just find it very uncomfortable when using it with any weight. Lots of Molle etc. I just expected it to be more comfortable than it actually is, so I am somewhat disappointed especially for what you pay for these bags.. Its good to leave reviews thought positive and negative so others can make more informed decisions.

      I tested the rush 24 yesterday great quality. But after 15 minutes my t shirt was wet from sweating no air circulation behind the bag. And after ahour my back started to pain and the pack wasn't almost full. For a everyday pack ok but for long distances no

      @@GearReviewDepot I think the same as both of you. the rush line is fantastic but I think the back ventilation issue leaves a lot to be desired. direct action is better in this regard. 5.11 rush are not intended to be worn with little clothing such as a simple shirt or T-shirt, rather with a full military uniform where the backpack does not touch the skin or almost. rush 24 is a great backpack except for that flaw. I would have put the back of the direct action dust / dragon egg in the new version 2.0. I hope they improve it in version 3.0. a greeting from Spain.

    Rush 72 is a gear bag for first responders like medics, police, rescuers and so on..if you choose it for hiking or backpacking like I did, its a bad choice cause it has no load bearing capacity.
    unlike Rush 72, Rush 12 has been served me as a great day pack. it's compact, enough of organiazation pockets (Rush 72 has too many pockets) and I can attach pouches on the outside and expand liters of this pack.
    I did have a chance to take a look at Rush 24 multicam and it looked so cool :)
    btw what do you carry in that little pouch on the shoulder strap? looks like a pistol mag pouch. maybe multi tool?

    • @GearReviewDepot
      @GearReviewDepot  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Park James I've been using the 72 for years with no problems, the 24 is a great pack but sometimes it's a little too small. I take a lot of gear with me when I'm working on videos/gear reviews. I use the 12 as my edc pack, not too big and not too small. The pouch is a BDS Tactical single magazine pouch, I carry my multi tool in it.

    • @militarygearjunkie2522
      @militarygearjunkie2522 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheTacticalDefender I did store like 20 kg in the 72 and hiked mountainous areas and it was not comfortable for me. and I felt awkward in my back when I stuffed a water bladder in the hydration compartment. I moved on to packs like medium alice pack with a hard frame and a nice thick hip belt although I modified it by myself.
      so I sold the 72 to my friend cheap and he loved it cause he needed a big bag when he rides his bike :)

      Actually, I have been asked that multiple times through the years. The brand is EMS (Eastern Mountain Sports) and I bought it many years ago. It eventually fell apart, so bought another one and I ended up returning it. Unfortunately, like everything else nowadays the quality isn’t what it used to be. I probably had that hat for 10 years! It’s been through so much and finally fell apart.

    good review. 5.11 makes solid solid gear for EDC to tactical stuff for military and LEO. I like that pack, but for my EDC bag I about to purchase MSM Boss Beaver. Going to buy a DA Ghost for multi Day hike bag. The MSM is American Made and yes it a little pricey but what the bag can hold/do is perfect for EDC among other things I do. DA Ghost is just a great pack that holds a ton and good price on it. This bag is nice tho, maybe down the road when I get a 3rd one ill try it out.

      This is the Sandstone color which they no longer make, they replaced it with a color called Kangaroo. The version 2 packs have a new concealed carry pocket, laptop sleeve and a larger eyewear pocket. The packs overall size is the same, they just reduced the size of the other pockets to include these new/larger pockets.

      That is a single mag pouch from BDS Tactical, I keep a multi tool in it. I like carrying my fixed blade and a multi tiool on my pack straps like that because they are used often while out hiking and they are always there at the ready when needed.

    • @nickmaryanov3406

    • @GearReviewDepot
      @GearReviewDepot  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pouch from BDS Tactical I mentioned is well made and works well for a single magazine, a multi-tool or almost everything in that size. Another company that makes a really nice single mag pouch is Maxpedition, I've used their single mage pouch for all kinds of items. The benefit to the Maxpedition pouch is that you can also carry it horizontal on a belt if you wish, that can't be done with the pouch from BDS Tactical. I'm sure there are others that make a great single mag pouch, I just have experience with BDS and Maxped when it comes to those pouches.

    • @GearReviewDepot
      @GearReviewDepot  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Lately because I enjoy vlogging while I'm hiking I usually just carry the tripod with the camera and mic on it to record myself but on occasion I will strap it to the side of my pack. I no longer use the large video head, I mostly use a smaller ball head but the process is still the same. I'm also using the RUSH24 instead of the 72 but again I still attach it to the side of the pack in the same manner. Here's a video explaining how I do that because it's a question I get often: th-cam.com/video/xgvYM0PqZqw/w-d-xo.html

    • @pvzandbeek
      @pvzandbeek 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, got it. Seems it would be easier on the 72 due to the bottom compression strap, but guess it could work on the 24 like that as well.

    • @GearReviewDepot
      @GearReviewDepot  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Patrick van Zandbeek Sorry I forgot to mention the 24 doesn't have the bottom compression strap so I use 12" twist tie from Nite-Ize. I just put it through the PALS webbing then around the legs of the tripod. it doesn't carry any weight, just keeps it up against the pack.
