@LocalRailfan Thanks, glad you liked it. The lighting was hard because of the thick clouds, and there were points where my exposure was set too high and made the headlights flare, now I know better for next time!
They are trash containers and they are sent to the Montgomery County Resource Recovery Facility, where the trash is burned to generate electricity. The interlocking to the plant is named PEPCO, for Potomac Electric Power Company, who used to own the generating station. They are now run by Northeat Maryland Waste Disposal Authority. As mentioned, there is a collection of waste at Derwood and then it is shipped from there. It is not a long distance whatsoever.
Eric this is awesome! I love the shot of the 4 Geeps on the rock train; great sound! And I've shot the 2723 I think in Lansdale before to; indeed it has a SWEET RS3L!
@csxketh1 I've gone to CSX a lot actually but a lot of stuff is reserved for an eventual DVD, which is way later than I expected, the only good thing about the delay (almost a year now) is that it has allowed me to add some more good scenes. I may make more trips to the Metro-Sub and compile a DVD of this line, although I want to focus attention to the Magnolia Cutoff before they remove the CPL's.
Very good video, nice camera work and scenes. Looks like you guys only missed a couple of the regulars on this line. You should try a trip to Relay MD where the Old Main Line meets the Capital Sub.
Now isn't this an awesome area to fan at?? I enjoyed my 2 dayish trip to this area so much last Summer, it really is a great area to spend a couple of days around, a nice alternative to all of the Albany Division stuff I'm used to. Shen is such a great location, I wish I had more than 2 hours to spend there when I went, but no Harpers Ferry for you huh? Too bad those CPL's at Brunswick are now a thing of the past, not to mention WB Tower. :(
Shenandoah Junction is the best location of them 3 because if you go on certain days, yes, you will see plenty. Other days it is super quiet. But at least your chances can double somewhat if Norfolk Southern is active.
QUestion - for a train person: How many cars does it take - before a train will simply sit still and spin it's wheels? Or is there a limit? It must be a weight ratio - the weight and pulling strength of the engine - versus the the weight of the train cars being pulled?!?!
I know all to well about mis-set exposure shot :P Unfortunately it is all part of the game. I just posted a video of some CSX you should see it, its on my channel.

@bubba2781
Driving around I think Q415 and Q398 got by us...but they had nothing special power wise. We also missed a coal train following the U821.
nice catch on the rock train with 4 geeps!
This seems to be the first CSX trip in quite a while! If only CSX had more Conrail then it would be just about perfect.
It's good to see some EMD's leading on the mainline :)
Nice video o00o00ozy.

Nive horn on the rock runner!!
I caught U821 at Silver Spring.
What kind of stack train is D765? I have not seen that before. Your video rocks.

two things
first very very nice lashup on that ballast train and second what is the train at 8:12 trash double stacks?
@csx4402 trash comes from brunswick and goes to the recyling center in derwood to sort cars there and then heads west
Nice!
I know all to well about mis-set exposure shot :P
Unfortunately it is all part of the game. I just posted a video of some CSX you should see it, its on my channel.
