If your vehicle is equipped with a manual liftgate, please see your Owner’s Manual for additional information.
If your vehicle is equipped with a power liftgate, place the shift lever in PARK before operating the liftgate.
Some vehicles are equipped with a motion-activated liftgate. To use the
motion-activated liftgate, be sure your key fob is within approximately three feet of the liftgate. With your leg near the center of the rear bumper, quickly swing your foot forward. Your foot should come within at least four inches of the rear bumper but should not make physical contact.
Immediately return your foot to the ground. You do not need to hold your foot under the bumper or move it side to side. Within two seconds three beeps will sound and the liftgate will begin to open or close.
Regardless of whether your vehicle is equipped with the motion-activated liftgate feature, any one of the following methods can be used to open or close the power liftgate:
● Pushing the POWER LIFTGATE switch on the instrument panel,
● Press and hold the POWER LIFTGATE button on the Intelligent Key, or
● Pushing the liftgate OPENER switch on the liftgate.
A chime will sound. The liftgate will open even if the doors are locked, when you use the instrument panel switch or the POWER LIFTGATE button on the Intelligent Key.
The liftgate can be set to open to a specific height by performing the following:
● Open the liftgate using the request switch or the Intelligent Key.
● Pull the liftgate down to the desired position and hold.
● While holding the liftgate in position, press and hold the liftgate switch located on the liftgate for a period of time or until 3 beeps are heard.
After the beeps are heard, the liftgate will only open to the selected position setting. To reset to a different position, repeat this procedure.
You’ll find the POWER LIFTGATE MAIN switch on your instrument panel.
When this switch is in the OFF position, the liftgate OPENER switch and the POWER LIFTGATE switch on the liftgate will not operate.
If the vehicle battery is discharged and the power liftgate cannot be opened, remove this cover at the bottom of the inside of the liftgate. Beneath the cover is a lever. Move it to the right to open the liftgate.
