    Great discussion with Maxwell Alejandro Frost about housing...I'd add that it's also huge that rental payments are NOT included in credit reports. I think that's HUGE. The single largest expense people have, and when rent payments don't appear on credit reports, the single largest impactful expense people have can't help them raise their scores. That's one of the reasons their credit scores don't improve as fast as they could.

      To be fair...one of the things your generation dropped the ball on ended up being the ignoring of the warnings of a slow-moving apocalypse that is now causing untold levels of catastrophe on a global level. And the pain of the reforms that could've prevented it, would've been a lot more bearable if it had been stretched out over those past 50 or so years. A bit more than a "Our bad. Thoughts and prayers." is needed by this point.

    • @thesleeper200x
      @thesleeper200x ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the contributions you gave in your time, but you might not notice the error in how you perceive civil rights. It might be worth considering that not you, nor I, nor anyone alive is ever _Done_ doing "their bit". Permanence is an illusion, because those who disagree with equality never thought they "did their bit" and stopped working to turn back progress. The correct way to view this in my experience at least is that to maintain hard fought progress the fight is never done, it takes constant vigilance and a constant state of re-evaluating the things we think we know.
      I apologize if this sounds cruel, but to complain about getting a bad rap or being invisible is expecting to be given praise for just doing the right thing by your fellow humans.
      P.S. As someone from a younger generation from yourself the notion that you think anyone born after 1990 is getting rich gave me a good giggle.

    also, love how Frost is leading with a message of coalitions and not waiting for a superhero to save us!

If this demographic ever realize their strength, they could elect (D) politicians that would legislate policies to benefit not only America, but also the world.

    Texas had a budget surplus between 27-35 Billion dollars, with a b. Greg Abbott could give El Paso the resources they need, they’re choosing not to.

    • @christinebenson518
      @christinebenson518 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's interesting that many states have a budget surplus. In Wisconsin the Republicans want to cut taxes basically forever (they clearly don't want anything nice). Here in Minnesota the Democrats want to fund a paid leave program and do other things to help low and middle income families. Republicans want, you probably know this, to give the money back to the "people".
      Republicans can hardly run states they have full control of, looking at you Texas and Florida, yet they actually think they can govern in congress. They clearly think most Americans are as stupid as them.

    Please, dismissing Biden's attitude towards immigration policy by saying "oh this is complicated, all of the options are bad" is just not a very good take considering you guys' policy knowledge. You're telling me that the Biden administration has NO idea how to transfer these people or create infrastructure to think of a better solution then going The Trump Way? I understand what Tommy is saying about this becoming republican talking point, but the fact is that Biden DID wait two years to go see the humanitarian crisis in his own country. He DID ignore it and try to shift the conversation away from it in the midterms. Also to ease the situation in Cuba and Venezuela maybe try a hand at lifting the economic blockage to allow these countries a breath under the US' imperialist boot.
    This is a bit of a "but we cant do anything because Republicans don't wanna work with us......" well of course they don't....they are FASCISTS. Call them what they are.
    If democrats don't talk about immigration seriously and openly, republicans will take that space and demagog the shit out of it.

      You have some fair points - it does not matter the republicans are going to demagogue the shit out of anything no matter what is done . Hmm, I think I'd contest the "first Gen Z in office" title for Rep. Frost. We share roughly the same age (four months apart) and 1997 hits that transitional year that doesn't cleanly fit into the shared experiences that could qualify someone as in one generation or another. I remember the installation of our first dial-up internet connection, but I also grew up using the PC since I was two. I've seen others born in my year agreeing that '97 exists in a limbo that makes it difficult to relate to other Millennials and Zoomers, yet easier to identify with and relate to each other, so the anecdotal consensus could be that '97 stays out of the fray between the two generations and would formally remain a transitional period bridging the eras on either side.
    Either way, we all know that "generation" labels are arbitrary and only written by authors selling a new advertising method to marketers who ate that shit up. They narrowly define middle-class white Americans, rely on youth vs. senescence tropes that have existed for centuries, and can't ever work cleanly because humans aren't born in discrete waves. Rofl.

    So, what do we do with all of these children of the Lord? I say that semi sarcastically because of the Christian contingent who is against helping anyone.

    Can I ask maybe a stupid question ❓. Do we really have the resources to accept almost whole countries to come to the US and just be here?
    Doesn't it make better sense to help the countries where the people are fleeing from? Come on. We need to be realistic. Being humanitarian is one thing. Being a sap is another.
    Many of these people, do not,,, want to come here and become an American. They want to form communities where they can have things their way, to heck with common neighborly rules. I know for fact, our neighborhood has like ten houses that have been purchased by Mexican families. No problem, but. They become multi family assembly points. Our direct neighbors have as many as 10 cars and trucks in the front yard. Because several families live in a 3 bedroom house. So you can never tell who's going to be there from week to week.
    I have 0 problems with a family here and there coming to the US or anywhere, to try a new life. But hundreds of thousands almost at once. That's just not right.

    Gutting Medicare, social security, and medicaid are going to devastate Americans. We'll just die. We worked our entire lives, paying into social security, and now, to worn out to work, we are living on money we paid into our entire lives.

      Yep , welcome to the republican dystopian nightmare , dying might be the best option soon - I mean seriously these are the people running this country -just wait until they crash the debt ceiling . No telling how bad this will get, goodbye America
