I have literally seen the same Calvin Klein dress on Macy’s selling floor for full price and found the same dress at TJMaxx for half the price the same day. 😂
I used to work at Bloomingdale's and everything that they didn't sell they would just turn around and resell it to Marshalls approximately 1 year later for a lot less. Just wait till it comes out at another store to buy it.
I remember purchasing a leather jacket at Marshall's for $50 nearly 10 years ago. It is still in good condition till this day. What a steal that was I thought to myself
TJ Maxx also has an advantage over outlets: convenience. Consumers no longer have to drive an hour to an outlet, they can get similar goods for the same price albeit a much smaller selection. To make up the difference, consumers just have to visit the TJ Maxx stores more often, exactly what TJX wanted 😅
So I worked there for 5 years and the things that came into the store were amazing. Help this guy find some winter coats for his 3 sons. They were going on a ski trip. So we found each boy really nice winter coats and ski pants. We also found some really nice goggles for each of the boys. The guy was sooo happy. The guy came back to the store that next year and told me about his trip. He was a very loyal customer after that.
I grew up on TJ Maxx and have been a loyal customer ever since. I love the deals I can find there. I’ll typically see if I can find what I’m looking for at TJ Maxx before going to a full price retailer. Being thrifty is a great thing!

It doesn't come as a surprise to me because I signed and wrote 45 cards myself to her on our fiftieth anniversary upon advice from my middle son but they're still a real treat to receive.
We get most of our 3 year old son's cloths at TjMaxx. Tommy Bahama, Polo, Nike, Hurley and Volcom. It's priced fairly well for this current economy. And most come in sets.
TJ Maxx is actually expensive now. Same with goodwills. No place is a gem anymore... I saw Gucci hoodie for $1200 and a Brunello Cuccinelli shirt for $125
When i was in elementary school, i told kids TJ Maxx started as Mexican company called Tijuana to the Maximum. And everyone believed me. It's not true. But it seemed right to a 8 year old. 😂

If you walk into Ross and Burlington you’d understand why TJ is beating them so dramatically. Ross and Burlington give Walmart & Goodwill vibes. They are usually really short staffed, messy, with products half opened and half stocked. Its TJ Max or Marshall’s for me
Theres a video out there where a student (fashion major) is tested on spotting whether the coach purse is meant for the outlet store or to the retail store. She guessed correctly on everything and pointed out the differences!
Most of the clothing sold in this type of store, are made to sell there. They have a brand name, but not the brand quality. In some instances, they license the use of brand names, and put those brand names on lower quality merchandise. If you are impressed with brand names, go for it !
That’s exactly my skepticism. Outlet malls are products from companies that are made SPECIFICALLY for outlets-lower quality (but still decent, but not the same). It’s not overflow. I’d love some side by side comparisons- let’s look at stitching, thread count, exact cuts, types of zippers etc. yeah it LOOKS the same but is it really? I don’t buy it.
You have to admit: A lot of stores and retail markets are struggling these days, but for some reason, TJ Maxx has always been able to come out through the Pandemic, 2008 Financial crisis, housing crisis, inflation, etc. They must know something!!
There are so many of these kind of stores around my neighborhood lol, we have Burlingtons, Ross, DDs, Marshall's, Nordstrom Rack, so many choices, but i can never find my sizes lol.
I know why because most people buy it all. I found New Balance sweat pants got 4 pairs. Still have like 2 pairs left in my room. Now just imagine all the people that got there before us did the same. I am not finding anything in my size recently unless go when it opens.
We have these stores in my area but I've never shopped at any of them and have no idea what they even sell. Figured it was just clothing and I can just find the clothes I need online or at Walmart. It's surprising to see they actually sell more than clothes. I wasn't expecting that.
I mainly buy ralph lauren, nike and adidas, what I've noticed is i can often find better deals at their outlets. Theres also a higher chance of finding something i dont have or want. For example a polo shirt retails for 110, but they always have promotions on less popular colors like green for 60. To get that same deal at TJMax i have to spend an hour looking and waiting in line.
They have good stuff sometimes. But always compare prices online, sometimes their red label prices are just regular or higher prices than elsewhere. I love the variety of products: clothes, personal care, cosmetics, but also decor, fun snacks and miscellanious stuff. But it can be tedious to find the right thing, sometimes I'm not patient enough.
The appeal of TJMaxx is that I got a $300 Italian leather bag for $60 the other day lol. It doesn't take a panel of Harvard MBAs to figure out that TJMaxx, Marshalls, Ross, etc are popular because they offer access to nice things that would have been prohibitively expensive for many people otherwise. I can buy almost everything I need(and want) for me, my kid, and my pet at discount stores for a fraction of what I'd pay elsewhere, it's really a no-brainer. Even if I get rich someday I'll still shop there.
2:18 “ they have turned discount shopping from an embarrassment to a batch of honor” I find that hilarious. Because in EVERY walk of life, institutions, govt, countries, etc whatever EVERYONE is trying to save money but getting a certain good or service by the lowest bidder. So to assume “discount shopping” was an embarrassment itself is wrong, because that’s making an assumption that people try not to save money is wrong. And if you disagree with me, ask yourself, why a LOT of items in your home is made in China.
I go to TJ Maxx for the snacks haha. Not even kidding. I love BODOs bars and BODOs bites. Every couple months I go in and buy $40 dollars worth to have at home. Save roughly $10 on them compared to Target or the grocery store.
I know somebody millionaire, whenever he travels to USA. He only shops at TJX stores.. Dan when he’s back to his country, nobody can see the difference it is bought from TJX or from the brand store
Funny thing is, this mistake made it through a video editor, and the person doing voice over. Assuming at least 1 or 2 layers of review, 3-4 different people missed this/just went along with the mistake!!
5:17 CNBC why would you reward TJMAXX with a video praising them, if they won't even give you the time of day, or let you film in their store? This video is one giant puff piece, that they didn't earn.
TJMaxx originally was my spot for socks, underwear, wife beaters in the 90’s. Now, it’s everything. I bought a Versace T-Shirt once. Insane things you can find.
TK Maxx In London is very successful because you can find bargains that you can't find anywhere else , as they get stock almost everyday . Their stores looks fresh as the items are moved around constantly . The stock is arranged by type so it's easier to locate what you want without the need to browse throughout the all store . Most of the stores manage their queues efficiently , so even the biggest queues are dealt with very quickly . Managers / Assistant M. do have to work, managing the store & staff as their performance and the store is monitored daily The benefits weren't great but the atmosphere in stores were good in general and staff were mostly happy .....( Not sure if it maintains as it was .....)
I’ve been shopping at Marshall’s, Ross, & TJ-Maxx for YEARS. All you newcomers go back to your highend retail chains. Let us keep our Denim & Flower, Cactus Man, Ralph Lauren, etc.
Been a fan forever. Early 2000s I really started finding treasures there as a young bachelor. Always had cooler stuff than my friends and for cheaper too. Why pay retail?
TjMaxx is awesome. I never know what I am going to get and as far as I know they do not exploit disabled people like Goodwill does (Goodwill is allowed to pay disabled workers less than minimum wage because of a federal law called Section 14 (c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act) (that law needs to be fixed.) So I do feel better. If I need a shirt or shorts quickly TJMaxx is there.
I used to love T.J.Max. I could walk in and find a gem at $200 when I saw it somewhere originally $800. I would see a dress at Macys for $160 and a few weeks later saw same dress at T.J.s for 16.99. I just don’t get this experience anymore. I don’t know if it’s the resellers getting all the good stuff before everyone else (because to them it’s their job) and selling it for what it originally cost on eBay, or poshmark, etc. It’s giving they just get the junk that won’t sell anywhere else. Every time I go in now it’s disgusting. Clothes been stomped over, and torn off the hanger. You have to search really hard to find nothing. I’m visual and a little ocd so it’s just not giving for me anymore. It’s sad because after dinner some evenings my husband, and I would be “you wanna stop at T.J.Max, to see what we can find”. We no longer do that because we no longer find anything not cheap junk. I feel below basic shopping there now. When I actually do find something I figured out that I never wear it. It’s sad because it truly was great at one time.
Most of these stores are full of JUNK and impulse buys. Do you really need that pink boot candle? Or a million gingerbread houses and towels? It’s sick the overconsumption of people these days.
Yes. TJ Maxx started in the US in 1977, by then parent company, Zayre Corporation. TJ Maxx was profitable, but the primary business, Zayre, was going bankrupt. In order to protect TJ Maxx, it was spun off into its own parent company, TJX Companies, and they focused on TJ Maxx, and sold Zayre to Ames. When TJX Companies decided to open in the UK, there was TJ Hughes, and thought that opening as TJ Maxx would cause confusion, that they decided to open in the UK as TK Maxx. When TJ Maxx was part of Zayre, Zayre was a store that catered to low income shoppers in urban and suburban communities. They were a step down from Walmart. So their clothing was not the most stylish. It was a direct competitor to Kmart, Walmart in the southern part of the US, and many others. So it was more than clothes, but TV's, radios, toys, and had a large fabric department for getting supplies to make your own clothes.
1. Their price is not as good as they propped up to be. Most items cost same as Target if not more. 2. They pressured their staffs into meeting credit card signup rate so much that some even bait and switch customers with misleading info like free $800 spending $$$ when you signed up. I almost took a local branch to civil court
For their Canadian operations, Marshall's, is here but Home Goods is know as Home Sense and TJ Maxx is Winners and they are killing it up here 🚹🚺❤them!
The Zayre heritage means a lot to me, but I've never been to any of their current stores and have NO idea what any of them sell. Clothes or something. Had no idea they were a bargain store. Shrug.

I love the fact they have a lay a way plan.
Video should be called:
Americas obsession with consumerism
It´s the Aldi or Lidl of retailers.
I can see why you would say that 😀😀
Not even close. TJMaxx/Home Goods are actually fun to shop in. Aldi is dystopian and depressing. Can't stand it
It’s really not.
They are not obsessed, they are manipulated by commercial and media to do extreme over consumption
Exactly. People go into the stress of debt to buy things they don't need and that's the way corporate America likes it
Ty this is due to SM.
This is like TOP Gun in a nut shell
Go extreme
In Germany, their sister company TK Maxx is a winner.
Have you been to the TJ Maxx in the USA? We have TX Maxx in Australia as well. It’s a fun store but not nearly as good or cheap as the USA.
not really the same, much better items and deals in the USA
I have been shopping at these two stores since my collage life and I haven’t stoped going there even with six figure salary.
Last summer I bought a cute pickleball set, birthdaycard and a gift bag all less than $20. Great place for last minute gifts.
I know somebody millionaire, whenever he travels to USA. He only shops at TJX stores.. Dan when he’s back to his country, nobody can see the difference it is bought from TJX or from the brand store
People are broke. Almost nothing is affordable. This stuff is affordable. That's literally it.
@8:00 how did they report Q2 2025 sales. I knew they could tell the future!
Funny thing is, this mistake made it through a video editor, and the person doing voice over. Assuming at least 1 or 2 layers of review, 3-4 different people missed this/just went along with the mistake!!
TJX fiscal year runs about 10 months ahead of calendar year. So FY 26 will begin in March 2025. Source: I work there.
Managers / Assistant M. do have to work, managing the store & staff as their performance and the store is monitored daily
The benefits weren't great but the atmosphere in stores were good in general and staff were mostly happy .....( Not sure if it maintains as it was .....)
I vouch for this my wife makes a run two times a week. Now homegoods is opening in the same plaza.
I always get my luggage there
I noticed a quality depression in Marshall’s when TJX took over. I shop both much less frequently than I did premerger.
I’m glad I’m not obsessed with clothes. It’s nice to keep more of my hard earned money.
Lol.. same here.😂 as long as i have good tennis shoes, socks n undiez. Im good ya know ;) Lol
I love shopping at Marshall's TJ maxx and homegoods. Its all over my wardrobe and home.
I’ve been shopping at Marshall’s, Ross, & TJ-Maxx for YEARS. All you newcomers go back to your highend retail chains. Let us keep our Denim & Flower, Cactus Man, Ralph Lauren, etc.
My local HomeGoods are always pack on the weekends.
Been a fan forever. Early 2000s I really started finding treasures there as a young bachelor. Always had cooler stuff than my friends and for cheaper too. Why pay retail?
Oh, this T.J. Maxx is near 96th street, I often go shopping there.
Inflation has not gone down fake news cnbc other than that good video . Groceries are ridiculous
Industri retail lebih berkembang pesat dengan konektifitas dalam pasar global
Im obsessed, TJ Maxx, HomeGoods and Marshalls. I go at least four times a week. 🎉🎉🎉
LOVE TK Maxx soooo much.
Home goods are great. I also like their luggage. Got some great deals.
Most of these stores are full of JUNK and impulse buys. Do you really need that pink boot candle? Or a million gingerbread houses and towels? It’s sick the overconsumption of people these days.
My favorite store. I should buy shares I’m always shopping there.
TJ Maxx and Marshall’s definitely are my top spots for clothes shopping.
I like the 32 degrees brand of clothing they sell there. Their fabric is so soft.

Is TK Maxx in the UK also part of TJ Maxx?
All the videos this reporter does are so good
For their Canadian operations, Marshall's, is here but Home Goods is know as Home Sense and TJ Maxx is Winners and they are killing it up here 🚹🚺❤them!
I've been shopping at Ross since elementary school
Quality of clothing from fast fashion has gone down over the years.
The Zayre heritage means a lot to me, but I've never been to any of their current stores and have NO idea what any of them sell. Clothes or something. Had no idea they were a bargain store. Shrug.
Das war wirklich aufschlussreich!
They told us too many lies.
I made 100k from TJMXs companies when I was 22. Good investment
My mother loves this place.
