The evils we as African people endured under slavery (& still to this very day) which was sanctioned by Christianity through Europeans are unimaginable. I was raised Christian but since learning the truth as an adult i have spent years distancing myself from the oppressors religion and his white God. I will NEVER return to it. I've come to traditional African spiritual practices and I couldn't be happier. Returning to the essence of our spiritual core has been liberating like nothing i have ever experienced. Turn from the oppressors evil ways, his God, his religion and the propaganda of white supremacy. Ase'💯

Find God 🙏. Do not attribute the sins of man to the goodness of God. Do not forget that it was also Christians who advocated for abolition in the United States. If you are telling the truth and we're raised Christian it is disgusting that you would reject Jesus Christ because of your racism against whites. We are all equal under Jesus Christ and without him you will face punishment. Return to the one true religion of Christianity. Many have been killed wrongly in its name, but millions have been saved from eternal damnation

The way I see this is that the preacher is keeping with his fundamentalist views, I think such types usually fall into the conspiracy theories more quickly. The narrator, on the other hand, obviously fell in love and as such perhaps found everything rosy rosy. The truth, if there is one, probably falls somewhere in between. I do appreciate both sides though. As a Haitian myself, I do respect and of course appreciate anyone comtributing for the betterment of the country, irrespective lf motives.
In this particular case, perhaps neither will ever have the politically incorrect courage to venture into the discussion of whether the people themselves are the problem. You can't ask a primitive society to out of nowhere create a civilized world.
