Peace & Love i think that because western media demonizes ayiti n its strong african cultural heritage n depict it as being backwards some haitians may buy into that way of thinking as a black person from the states i always bombarded with negative images of ayiti until i learned about boukman n louvreture n dessalines. We as black people all over the world should celebrate the haitian peoples leadership role in the movement for african peoples liberation

No. God is against them. Ngga, im Haitian. I watched how this shyt destroys people. God says strictly that whoever partakes in magic will have no say in the afterlife. This is idol worship at its purest. And whoever or whatever demon is promoting this for the people of Haiti is part of the evil and devil. Thats why its considered black magic. ] the children of Israel which we are.

There's rituals in the Sun Book/Holy Bible that is basically along the lines of Vodun. ONLY so that you forget the ways of your ancestors and follow "white" man's book.
Then to further decieve you OUT of the ways of YOUR ancestors...

From the depths of my heart -- Thank you for documenting these illustrious ceremonies, which has been clearly demonstrated in such vibrant, sacred, and ritualistic practices, thus anchored in our Faith as (Haitian) people who have remained truly connected to the Ancestral Spirit(s), Source of all life forms; coupled with this deeply rooted connection to the world governed by the Invisible Masters (Spirits), Haitian National pride, honor, and reverence for those battered souls; sacrificed in order to create an ouverture; this reserved space which redefined our call to freedom and therefore, it's innately treasured and vividly recognized during an assembly of Divinity (Spirit Lives on...) - Master Jed

The only reason behind demonizing this Ancient Philosophy is because is predominately African things. Ogun like any Orisha is forces of nature. What is wrong, in calling and honoring the Spirit of nature, because Nature itself is part of human existence. We cannot survive without our natural environment and nature phenomenal. But European want to dominate, destroyed anything, that not appeal to their way of life. As human beings, we all different, we all have different cultures, and way of life. We must learn to accept other humanity. Because we all share this Earth together. I love my People, I love my Ancient philosophy. Ogun onire oko mi, Ogun gbajama, tin fi eje we. Ogun lana komi. Again this is an awesome video. If ever possible, would you be able to upload full lengths of the dancing and singing? This style of dancing is particular to the northern regions of Haiti, especially the northern central zone of Artibonite. The songs, of course, are in honor of ginen (African spirits), but they also contain powerful messages of how Haitians should uphold moral ethics when engaging their communities (and the lwa, of course). So, your video is rich and I hope you can drop more footages of this event. Great stuff!

I love this aspect of my culture. I am not just Haitian, but I cling to my African ancestry. I have a lot to learn about my culture and ancestors, but I'm willing. This is vompletely beautiful.
On another note, I have read some of the comments and I wonder how people follow blindly the concept of Christianity without questioning the toxic affects of its past and how many of us have become brainwashed into calling our heritage evil and poisonous yet cling to the white concept of blindly believing in Jesus and or God. Whats the difference when a person receives the holy spirit, compared to a person who is possessed or taken by ancestral spirit? How can anyone know the difference? It's this concept specifically, that I have trouble with. Voudoo is a beautiful religion and philosophy. It should be studied by all, and it is strong. One who compares any of the African traditional religions to worshipping the adversary is toxic, and brainwashed at best.
However the way anyone feels, this philosophy of traditional religion is the sole reason why Haiti became the first and only black independent republic in the world that successfully fought for freedom. And consequently, is the reason why it was, and still continues to be crucified for their reluctance to fight for their freedom, and relinquishing their birthright and heritage to MOTHER AFRICA.

Good explanation of the Bois Cayman ceremony in 1791. I have read The Black Jacobins by C. L. R. James that explains this ceremony but doesn't go deep into detail, apart from what they sang.....which to me looked like a Central African language as opposed say, to Swahili or Yoruba based languages. Since Kreyol supposedly is based on the Woloff of Senegal, it could also be from this etymological root. Also, a Cuban anthropologist wrote that it was a Dahomeyan pact which took place in Bois Cayman in 1791. I think there should be more anthropological research, both into the language and music employed in Bois Cayman, though the basic song has suposedly survived, according to the book by C. L. R. James.

More research is clearly needed in this subject. The phoenetics for both male and female singers, the structure of the songs, and the drum patterns all show very strong lineage to the Jola culture found in Casamance, Southern Senegal!

Noted Reference: For future remarks: the term "possession" bears this negative connotation, particularly with Western thought and certain ideology, which may have fallen under the auspices of conspiracy, miseducation of the masses; willfully tainted and misinterpreted religious dogma. Therefore, we must refrain from referencing the term "possession," when expounding on the tenets and instrumentation of Vodun. Rather, it is the "exact presence" of Divinity or Divine Intervention, time to cherish the "sacred breath of life". So sacred - it's a moment that is strictly reserved for spirit manifestation; while its echoed in the cosmic realms, the same relentless energy resonates from the bowels of the earth; along with the expression and sudden release of this psychic energy, that which is equally transferred from one being to another, with such a pronounced cognitive intent or notion to create form (current), by combining the multiple Elements, thus liberating the road to Papa Legba (Master of Crossroads and provider of passage to Divinity/Loa or Ginnen Spirit); it is known as "union" between flesh and Spirit. An event which is imminently profound, marked by song, dance, chants, mantras, and absolute devotion. It tends to register with a calibration (energy attractor) and elevation beyond the margin of ancient wisdom and understanding -- let's simply refer to the manifestation of these Oral and Visual Traditions as "cosmic synergy". Peace and Love -- Ayibobo, Ayibobo, Ayibobo! Master Jed

These ancient fallen finite spirits manifest throughout the world. The names change with the culture, but the entities are the same. The Bible tells of the sacrifices, the incense, and the drink offerings devoted to other gods, of which the INFINITE all-knowing, all-powerful Most High God is fully aware and which he calls an abomination. Jesus Christ (Yeshua, Christos, the Messiah) crushed the head of the serpent and made a mockery of these powers and principalities by his act of dying on the cross and being raised from the dead 3 days later, defeating spiritual death for all who believe and trust on him. All spirits tremble and flee at the mighty name of Jesus. There is no other name by which men must be saved. The serpent is a deceiver.
