Elise, I am also going through the worst aftermath of a breakup. My friend of 10 years and partner for 2 decided he no longer has the emotional capacity for a relationship and wants to work on himself alone. I am crushed at the loss and feel so much grief to lose someone I believed I had a solid foundation with. My dream died with that relationship, but now it’s time to discover a new dream. Thank you for sharing yourself through the good and the bad. From pain we can create the most incredible future full of art and love 💗 thank you for being amazing! That pink is perfect! I'll give you a tip from my father who has been a professional house painter for like 40 years. Don't paint the ceiling leave it white. Otherwise it will make it seem like the ceiling is very low. Give you a claustrophobic feeling. Also keep the trim on the doors, windows and baseboards and trim along the ceiling white. :)

1st time when hubby in accident and left totally disabled. But his mind still worked and he still had his wonderful positivity and sense of humor.
I had to learn to take care of him and learn to take on our home and garden...alone...it was daunting ...but we had a great and challenging life 46 yrs
2nd time for me to redefine myself is when in 2019 he passed away...I didnt have my best friend and lover

Absolutely. Dampening the bottom edge of the outside of the curtain before you get in the shower will make it cling to the bath, not you.

I always said my life was like a patchwork quilt, that I was just trying to find happiness wherever I could find it. Elise, you learned so much from this break up. I know this sounds like an odd thing to say, but your tips on how to handle a heartbreak are gonna be so helpful to so many. Specifically your last two tips on anger, and taking back things that were taken from you. You’ve taught me something today Elise, and I’m 62 yrs of age. I had so much pent up anger, and heartbreak from a long marriage with my ex-husband that included children that I’m sure it contributed to me getting two different types of cancer. It’s taken me a long time to recover from everything. But……, now, there’s not much now that will keep me from speaking up when I’m feeling I’m being treated unfairly. The pink color for your walls actually looks fabulous, I really like it. I think painting all the doors and trim and baseboards white would really set it all off and look great. It was wonderful seeing how thrilled you were to be painting the walls the way you wanted to. I can see your joy. As to the breakup, it is definitely hard to go through such heartbreak. I'm still working on being ok. My fiance and I broke up 7 months ago, and it still hurts. Even though it ended on good terms and no fighting, it still hurts me so deeply because we had a future planned, we had so many things we were supposed to do. But in the end we wanted different things apparently. I do feel myself getting stronger each day, but some days are still hard. It's very difficult to lose your best friend after 13 years. One day at a time.

All, I can say is that your tips are great. When I was single, my Mom taught me to love myself first and learn to be independent. When you like yourself you learn who you really are. Then I got tired of dating guys that were not right for me. So, I made a list of good and bad characteristics. Then went back and highlighted 3 good qualities and 3 bad qualities. The 3 good, the guy had to have and the 3 bad were things that I could not tolerate. Usually, after a couple of dates these characteristics will show up. This is how I found my husband now 32 years married.

I love that white sweater dress! Your hair looks amazing, too. As far as the outfits, I really like the pencil skirt..you look fantastic in that coppery color! About your ex..he's an idiot. If he treated you badly, he's not worth giving any more thought to. You deserve to be treated like a queen and any guy who doesn't treat you as such isn't worth it. When I was in my early twenties, I was engaged to a guy I thought was going to be the one for the rest of my life...until he went away for his first week of college and brought home a new girl. The arse wouldn't even come outside to talk to me! I was absolutely crushed, but you know what? It made ms stronger and after that I decided that any guy I dated had better treat me like a queen or he was gone. I laid down my one rule..they mess up in ANY way, it's over. And I stuck to that. My mom thought I was crazy, but I was determined to never be hurt like that again. I was probably a little harsh, but it weeded out the losers..LOL I've now been with the same guy for over thirty years, married for going on twenty-seven! We never fight about anything and I love him more every day. You deserve the same..every woman does. *hugs*

Go out, be with friends, enjoy yourself and live life for yourself not someone who couldn't, wouldn't, doesn't want to be in your life. There's so much more to life than wait for someone to feel the way you do about them. Love and life we make it what we want not what someone else wants for us. I've moved on from a verbally abusive late husband and I've learned to live my life the way I want. Be blessed.

I like all of the outfits. The first was my favorite, the rust colored blouse and pencil skirt. You look so beautiful in everything and you have a great figure. All 10/10. Please take all the time you need for yourself. If dating feels right then go for it but don't make yourself if you don't feel like it. You have a lot on your plate right now, getting settled into a new home, and having to give up your car. Feelings of loss tend to come in waves so it may get better and worse for awhile. You might be doing great and then suddenly find yourself crying again and it's okay. Anger is good and it's a sign of healing. The pink color in the hallway is really nice. There is just something magical about pink and white together. I have one room where I painted the walls a pale pink, and the ceiling and trim a creamy white. Another room I painted everything in a soft pink, walls ceiling and trim, it has a very calming feeling. All my other ceilings are white and I wish I had painted at least one ceiling in a dark moody color. A dark teal blue looks wonderful with pink. Aqua also looks great with pink, or a pale golden yellow. Darker colors are good for baseboard because it will get dirty. My white baseboard really annoys me, it gets SO dirty and it is hard to clean. I painted my floors a dark brick red color and I love the way it goes with pink, but the paint on floors does chip and wear away a lot. I want to tell you to go slow with the house, don't push yourself too hard, but I also know that the more you get settled in it can get harder to change things. You did the right thing opening up that wall right away even if it did take a chunk of money.

  • @jenniferbates7656

Half strength paint in the pink on the ceiling would look great. Keep the white trim on the doors and the skirtings as a contrast. The skirtings is the board that trims the bottom of the floor around the walls and doors. But using the pink on the ceiling in a quarter or a half strength would look fabulous. It’s looking great and so are you.

Brilliant advice Elise, and even if there are moments of sadness occasionally, we can just go with it for a little while, then take a deep breath and let it go. On a lighter note, I've always loved coffee dates, as you can wear something cool and stylish without fussing too much about makeup and accessories, and save the more dressy and glam stuff for a dinner date. Love the pink walls 👍

You are so right about 'anger'...a therapist once told me "there is no such thing as anger. Every time you feel anger it is pain" It changed my life. That feeling of 'anger' is you recognizing injustice agaiinst you or others and that realization of what you deserve is empowering. Hugs.

I understand so much Elise, I've been going through a breakup after 13 years married and 6 years together before that, 20 years all together, I knew you were struggling and ironically watching you be strong and gaining your independence back n watching you n your new lovely home has helped me. You remind me of myself years ago! I'm 61, a artist , street photographer and fashion junkie and if course young at heart! I found u years ago because of your dreads, how wonderful its been watching your videos of your cottage and now your new home, your shop and all your fashion! You are a amazing person always remember that! And the dusty pink hallway is awesome!! I hope you continue to be strong and keep at it, your a inspiration to us all!❤️

I'm watching this video 4 weeks later. 🌺 The white jersey suits you with your lovely hair colour 🌼
All the outfits look lovely on you. 👏👌The blue one is stunning on you. 💖
I have been watching your videos for a long time and was always amazed at all your creativity and accomplishments. All the special milestones. Your pretty and cozy apartment with Luna, your beautiful shop, your clothing designs, your fashion outfits, your thifting for goods trips, your cottage projects, and so much more. You inspired us just by watching your videos with everything you do. We are all from around the world. When we all went through covid lockdowns, you were cheering us up. Over Christmas all your lovely vlogs. Buying candles. Hoping to win the million scratch card 🤞😁Cooking food. Planting flowers. Choosing wall paper, painting, renovating, mowing grass, running your business, watching sunflowers grow. There are so very many things I can list that YOU created all by yourself.
When you feel your confidence is at a low it is a projection of someone else's bad behaviour that hurt you.
Look back at all the videos you created, remember all the things you have achieved and all the positive inspiring messages from all your subscribers. You did that, it's amazing! 🎉
Thank you for sharing your journey with all of us through all the good times and the not so good times. That's real life. It broke my heart to see you go through this sad time because I can relate, I went through a very bad breakup myself.
I didn't want this for you.
My ex partner was a selfish, controlling, abusive narcissist.
Every good thing I created he tried to ruin. The more love and giving I was to him, the more he took without any appreciation. The abuse escalated.
I was a successful independant person before I met him. At the end I was a shadow of my former self. He literally sucked my energy from me like a vampire. Eventually we ended it. It took a huge effort on my part to recover. But slowly, I did. One step at a time.
Every little achievement is a victory to getting back my power and sense of self. And the same for you, and anyone who is going through heartbreak.
I'm so glad you are healing and are able to talk more openly, while you are letting go of some things and embracing new things. Every brush stroke in your new home and the canvas of your life is one step closer to a new beautiful piece of artwork, which is your God given life. All your talents and uniqueness. Nobody has the right to diminish who we are and yes, getting angry in a healthy way is part of healing grief.
I want to see you free like a butterfly and happy. Remember how special you are. 🌷🦋🌹🌻🦋🌺🦋🌼🦋🌻🌞💖

I love the blue outfit! It makes your beautiful hair pop, the outfits are all lovely. I guess it depends on where the date is … the mauve pink hallway is gorgeous, don’t paint the baseboards or ceiling. Keep them white. Painting them will box things in and make things small and dark. I can’t wait to see what beautiful art you will hang there, your comments about healing are all sound advice. I think it’s important to remember to “never put all your eggs in one basket “ an American saying.. meaning never give 100% to anyone, protect your self and your heart.. never settle , and never take somebody else’s scraps.. you identified you are impatient and that can be a blessing and a curse . After you got screwed over with the house deal that was the screaming g red flag to end it and distance yourself from all those people that didn’t have your best interest in mind. You can’t force true love…it takes time to build a solid relationships , in the world of psychology where I come from studies show it takes 3 years to really get to know somebody and see them when they are stressed ,go thru hardships of some kind.. anyone can put on a mask and show their best side under that time frame….. think about that the next time you let your heart be vulnerable to another…and proceed with caution.

Thank you again Sweetheart for being “you”, you are such an inspiration. I’m 70+ and have recently drawn another line in the road. We, as female energies, need to keep strong to our wants and needs. This recent interlude taught me, once again, how much I push “me” onto a back shelf for the comfort and convenience of the male energy.
So please know and keep close to your heart, “we” deserve! We are NO less than the next. We are all equal, regardless of gender, race, or anything else!!! Stay strong! We’re winners! ✌️💜

Brave wearing white right after henna 😮😊 You look amazing! All outfits looked great on you.
I think you should go with it with the hallway/entryway/foyer and paint the ceiling too and idk about the baseboard but the one up by the ceiling though. You can always paint it white if you want later but I think it will look amazing and with a ceiling lamp and maybe some wallsconses and/or table lamps, maybe 1 or more mirrors etc it will light up.
But also I think color and even darker color give light in a way more than a sterile white wall by it giving so much warmth.
But all pink and then with art and a rug etc it will look so amazing, a real statement and a small hallway is such a great place to do something bold. So I say; Go for it, paint it all pink!
oh and the take things back tip in the end is so true. It can be the hardest but it helps so much. And also shifting (not necessarily to anger but) to starting to think about how and why the relationship didn't work and how it wasn't good enough is great. And as you said, talk talk talk, talk it all out and be sad etc in the beginning, even if you don't want the person back you can let yourself "mourn" the relationship being over and things not going as planned, then it's just easier to go on and realize all that was wrong and start to heal and not be scared to be reminded of things.

I like the pink hallway; it’s a brave color to try since it’s the first thing one sees when they enter your home through the front door. But it works. I would use bright white paint on the ceiling & trim. If wiring exists or can be added, a sparkling ceiling light or wall sconces would add warmth & light.
Your outfits are amazing, but you always look lovely. I love the cream sweater dress you are wearing.

Wow... I love that tip about taking back things that feel stolen from you. I have found that a lot of my interests have come from other people, and when they let me down, I feel like I don't know who I am, that I don't have anything that's just "mine." But reframing it as taking things back or claiming them... I never would have thought you could even do that! I've had such a hard time moving on from people who have hurt me, mostly because we were never official and therefore we never "broke up" - we just faded away and I was left confused, wondering what happened.

Your Henna hair color is absolutely beautiful! It looks so natural! I love the first outfit, but I don't know if I love the blouse tucked into the bottoms. I do NOT think you are too small-breasted for the other blouse, but if you feel uncomfortable about it, you could always wear a padded bra. I wear a slightly padded bra that looks completely natural made by Warner. It's one of the most comfortable bra's I've ever owned. I am much older than you but I remember all the painful breakups. You are right about so many things you touched on! Music is my go-to for all of the good and the bad times. Surrounding yourself with friends who truly care is also the best medicine! My very first real love was in high school and we actually handled it as if we were mature adults. We knew we missed each other so we helped each other deal with it by still having conversations on the telephone every day and said that we would always be there for one another until someone else came into one of our lives. It happened to be him that met someone and I left him alone so I didn't make the new girlfriend feel uncomfortable. I was actually very happy for him. We knew we weren't meant to be together and we helped one another get through it. I will never forget that. I managed to stay friends with all of my ex-boyfriends in the end. I've been married for 22 yrs now and just found out that he may have cancer in one lung. If anyone reads this who wouldn't mind adding us to your prayers, I would very much appreciate it. Life is precious and I am so proud of you Elise! All you have accomplished is something to be proud of! You are a beautiful woman, inside and out! You have everything going for you and I am so happy for you! Always stand on your own two feet and be happy. When you are truly happy, you will attract the right kind of man and you will have your pick of them because of the person you are! You deserve only the best this world has to offer!

One thing I finally realized is to pay attention to the family and how that person interacts and deals with them. Sometimes we men have trouble understanding women. Like putting something that looks like mud into your hair, just to rinse it out again a short while later. But I am happy your tub helps you with this, and your hair looks great.
Your reaction to your recent breakup shows me that you are a life warrior and survivor of the best kind. It might have been easier for you to stay in the relationship, but if it had not already turned a bit abusive it would probably soon have turned out to be. So you took the battle and pain of breaking up like a warrior to avoid even greater pains in the future. Real men like strong women because men want to be supported by their partner just as much as women do. A good relationship has to be mutual and equal.
Now you have gotten over the breakup and moved into your own house it makes sense to look for a new partner. You got hurt last time, but this only made you stronger. I am sure you have learned and is a bit more careful this time. Good luck with your dating.
I like all the outfits you showed in this video for dating. But the outfit I actually like the most is your paint-stained denim overall. In a way I think this best represents who you are: A woman who can do for herself 😀

*I LOVE the pink. If it's too dark, then you could paint the bottom half of the walls white & add "chair molding." Leave the floor molding or baseboard trim white either way, looks good like that. You could also put a mirror at the end of the hall so it reflects the light coming from the front door, to add more light & open up that space.* 🩷💗🩷
