- When you go thrifting for a vintage lamp, but you come home with a "new" car instead. I hope that you enjoy today's video in which I get back my freedom, I go thrifting, I work on my walk-in closet.... I basically just enjoy having a car again. Hope you enjoy!

I find it astonishing that people would ever critique what someone else does in their own life and home. Your style is nothing like mine but I still love it. You absolutely rock.
Yeah I also never understood the people who act like painting something ruins it, paint can be removed, it's actually quite protective in some ways.
When people put themselves out there ( social media) they have to expect negative criticism at times. I commented on the colour of her closet ceiling. I thought it didn’t match with the rest of the room. Nothing wrong with that. Doesn’t mean I don’t like other things she’s doing. So yes I commented but I don’t regret saying what I said.
The point being though nobody wants your opinion on someone sharing their diy ventures.If you’ve watched the video and enjoyed your time watching it why not just say thanks for putting a lovely video out there that helped me pass some time!otherwise TH-camrs will get to a point that they will stop sharing anything real and spontaneous including mistakes.
All TH-cam channels that I watch have people that say the rudest, most unnecessary comments about all different subjects. Why? Be kind and positive! You are not an authority on everything!
The nastiest people are the very ones who don't dare show their lives on social media. It's easy to be nasty and hide behind a keyboard. The degree of nastiness is also an indication of the dissatisfaction in their own lives.

Decorating your home is a very personal thing and you are right to ignore others trying to force their tastes on you. I know some think it’s a travesty to paint wood furniture and that’s fine for them but if the appearance conflicts with your esthetic then paint it you must. I think it’s wonderful. My daughter organises closets and gives you lovely hangers to make your closet perfect. She organises so that you can find everything and showcases your favourite things and when she has finished you can't wait to get up in the morning and get dressed. Be aware fo financial consultants etc as they are all after money. I worked and paid into a pension and so glad I did. You cannot ignore that.

Elise one of the things I love most about your content is that you have the eye, you know what you’re looking for once you find it, and it always turns out well because you are willing to allow the time and flexibility for designing at your own realistic pace. Initially I will always be wary of painting wood, but this is gonna turn out well because it is intentional. Your boundaries are wonderful and I really respect your attitude of just giving yourself some space and doing what you want to do :)

While personally I wouldn’t have painted the dresser (I just prefer wood finish to color and I tragically have almost no wood finish at my home 😅😄) I admire you for doing your thing and previously I had thought “I wouldn’t paint that” when you were doing renovations on your cabin but then you did paint it and it turned out so amazing! My grandmother gave me a mahogany bedroom set when I was young, which she inherited so it is very old. It needed to be professionally refurbished but I could not afford it and I finally decided to paint and decoupage it myself, even though I thought my parents might be upset with me. It turned out great and I am enjoying so much. Wish I had done it sooner. It is great you will do as you like and enjoy your space!

the other day I was in a vintage store with my head stuck in a dark mystical corner full of beautiful leathers and bohemian patterns and dark rich colors and their was some old-school music playing and the smell of old and I truly felt like I had gone back in time. it almost brought tears to my eyes. Love the car! If you do want to strip the dresser of all old stain and sealers I have a good tip! You just spray the whole thing with oven cleaner, cover in plastic for an hour, and then scrub with a scrub brush and hose off! After it dries you will see all the yellow disappear!
Elise congratulations on your car! I understand how you feel as if you have your freedom back. For thrifting, here in the US we have a thrift store chain called Goodwill (GW) and they are everywhere. They hire people who might not be able to have a job anywhere else and they also give back to the communities. The inventory is donated by people cleaning out their stuff but the prices for the past few years have been ridiculous! There are many many people in this country that buy collectible things from there and then resell them at a higher price online and this has significantly changed how GW does business. They now have sorting centers and keep all the good stuff to put in their online auction site!
