If budget allowed I'd take an SL all day every day. Not just over an SLC but over many other cars on the market.

Its a lot harder to distinguish between the two models especially with the new facelift. Target market for both cars have also overlapped i think

+UzzyFuzzyy I'm aware of that but I predict in that decade or so in the future the SL and SLC will become ONE model since they're increasingly becoming similar so it would, at that point, make cost effective sense for MB to produce one.

To add to what you're saying just look at the dimensions. Compare the gap between the SL and formerly the SLK of the 1990s, or the R129 and R170, to today's, the R231 and R173. The R129 is 177.1 inches long x 71.3 inches wide and the R170 is 157.3 x 67.5. So the R129 is 12.6% longer and 5.6% wider than the R170. The R231 is 181.6 x 73.9 and the W173 is 162.8 x 71.3 and thus the R231 is 11.5% longer and 2.6% wider than the R173. So the gap between today's models is closer and the old 1990s. It may be that the increasingly stricter safety standards have caused the SLK/SLC to get bigger faster as passengers in smaller cars are more vulnerable to crashes than riding in larger ones like the SL.

The SLK, was the best. The SL is a little better than the SLC. Have to have at least a V6. AMG was the race car. All these cars will get you to 300,000 on the Ometer, with little maint. Mercedes-Benz made a great roadster, which makes a BMW feel like driving a brick.

Jokes aside, I'd only opt for the SL if I wanted a convertible S Class, but since I don't, then I'd sure take the SLC (even though SLK sounded way cooler)

slc 43 is half price of sl400? if so id go for slc
but sl better overall of course

the slc as more value for money and the sl is double the price so for me the slc would seem like the far vaster choice for money and it still looks awesom either way with the iconic lookins gt front lights to me

Not sure if I want the SLC 43 AMG with 9G-Tronic gearbox, so I'll take the SL 400 with 7G-Tronic gearbox all day long.
