When we were kids during the 60's, we would go to Palisades Park at least 2- 3 times a year. It was the best place to spend a day with your family. We also enjoyed Freedom Land. Thank you for the great memories.
Thanks for that . I grew up in Cliffside Park and worked there as a young teenager . Even on our days off we went to the park to play the pinball machines or just hang out. We were always there . Sigh what memories.😊
I sang on the big stage with my sister singing our to 100 Billboard hit record Lonely Summer by the Kittens during the WMCA Good Guys production. SUCH FUN AND GREAT MEMORIES.
I LOVE MY PALISADES PARK, AND ALWAYS WILL ! YOU CERTAINLY BRING MY CHILDHOOD MEMORIES BACK TO LIFE..." THANK YOU FOR ALL THE GREAT MEMORIES FOR EVER. ❤💙🇺🇸🇺🇸👍🎵✌️🙏🥰🥰🥰🥰
And the hit song by Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon, was written by a man who would go on to create TV shows like The Dating Game, The Newlywed Game, bring back Treasure Hunt in the mid 1970's and create and host The Gong Show...Chuck Barris. And quite the Palisades connections to channel 11 back in the days.
I wouldn't be a bit surprised on a warm summer night that people would swear they heard the roar of the Cyclone, seen kids waving from where the skyride used to sail over the park with those spectacular views of the Hudson River, New York and the George Washington Bridge! Or even smell the odor of popcorn, hot dogs and cotton candy, echoes from the past of a place we all loved and endeared!
I remember looking across the Hudson River at 125th Street in Manhattan and seeing Palisades Amusement Park. Sometimes my parents would take us to Coney Island in Brooklyn. But when we did Really good at school We would be Treated to a day at Palisades Amusement Park.
I was taken there as a very young child. The only thing I remember was a slowly turning barrel-like structure that you had to try to walk through. However, I remember the jingle very well from our black and white TV set.
Palisades Park is iconic and everybody who visited it should always keep telling their stories to todays public to keep its memories alive. Hey, they even wrote a song about it. It's Historic and I grew up listening to the 45 record on my sisters record player as a young boy of 7 years old. I dreamed about the rides and the Cyclone Roller Coaster from the screaming fans. I still love Rollercoasters to this day at age 62 because of that song. I love Amusement Parks because everybody is there having fun! Fountain of Youth no doubt it at any age!
Freddie "Boom Boom" Cannon was born on December 4, 1936. He celebrated his 87th birthday on December 4, 2023 (Palisades Park was released in July 1962 and reached #3 on Billboard Hot 100 charts. It was his biggest hit).
I was in fifth grade when Freddy Cannon released Palisade' s Park and I was totally in love with a fourth grade girl at the time. (It never happened to you? Your loss) I dreamed of "you'll never know how great a kiss can feel when you're stopped at the top of a Ferris wheel." Nice memories, no kisses.
I went just once, but it was a magical and fun experience. The song by Freddy Cannon lives on, the commercial jingle unforgettable. As long as people remember it, it will be a part of pop culture.

The owner was getting up in years so he decided to finally sell. For decades,he gave the area an affordable place to go. I don't usually praise a rich person but this guy was ok.
I was born in 68 but I somehow remember, possibly the tv commercials and remember Palisades park maybe my family went there and I when I was very little

Thank you for the great memories.
I was born in 1952. When I was a kid this was the place to go. It was a sad day when they shut it down.😢
This is so heartwarming to me… that song remains in my heart. Such wonderful times and a better world 😢

Went once - born 1960. I remember the songs played here to the note from the ads. I don't remember the visit.

Freddy Cannon has played a big role in keeping the memories alive.

"Palisades Amusement Park, ride the
coasters, stay cool with the waves in the pool, come on o- ver"😊.
Every Year during the 60’s my Summer Camp would take us there. I am so glad I have those memories.

I worked so many rides in the park. It was a great time and a great place.

Today, a single day at Disney World for a family of four, not including any hotel stays, will cost at least $500.

Unfortunately, the number of people who remember it is dwindling with every passing year.
I lived in Fort Lee in the 50s and early 60s and remember Palisade Park so fondly
George Reese even appeared there before he died
I was taken there as a very young child. The only thing I remember was a slowly turning barrel-like structure that you had to try to walk through. However, I remember the jingle very well from our black and white TV set.
Brings back great memories 😂😊
Thanks for the memories
Watching the Danny DeVito movie The Ratings Game and the song Palisades Park got me to thinking about this
You never know how good a kiss can feel,
Till you're stopped at the top of a Ferris wheel
Wish I lived that time
I have some coupons for the park attached to the comic books of that era.
I love that park up until my mother abandoned me there
I grew up right across the street!
The land could make more money for developers as skyrise buildings than it could as an amusement park. Greed.
The owner was getting up in years so he decided to finally sell.

I don't usually praise a rich person but this guy was ok.
It would'et work Today. TOO BAD !
Iaam from Jersey, live shows
