    All of my friends are "Non-Gamers", so we tend to play a lot of party style games on our game nights. We're having people over tonight, and we're going to play some Deception: Murder in Hong Kong, Decrypto, Night of the Ninja, and Phantom Ink. They're all games we've played with them before that went over really well, so it should be a fun night.

      That’s a great list of games right there!

    I consider Scout and King of Tokyo to be great gateway games. They're fun and easy to learn.

      That's exactly the two I was thinking of and played with coworkers

      I've played King of monster island and it made me want to discover its little bro.

    I brought Tinderblox to Easter dinner. My sister and her teenage kids could not stop playing it. Even my 80 y/o dad was playing. They both asked where to buy it and I was happy to grab them each their own copy.

    my non-gamer friends have responded well to Just One, Abandon All Artichokes, Land Vs Sea, Micro Macro, Skull, Color Brain, Herd Mentality, Similo, Codenames, and Parks

    Thanks for the recs. Always nice to have the possibility to introduce somebody to this amazing and fun hobby. The more the merrier, they say. 😁

    My favorite is Ready Set Bet. It always works every time my big family comes to visit.

    On the next Boardgames and Brew make a compilation of the many faces of Jeff. “Holding in the yawn” is my favorite 🤣🤣🤣

      Hahah the yawn hold is a classic around here

    Love your lists. We did a work hangout at a game cafe last night. I was the only "boardgame". We played Skip Bo and Camel Up. You know it's good when everyone asks where to get it afterwards.

    I purchased tapple because you recommend it in a past video and what a fabulous recommendation. My 3 college students will play this and really like it. They are in the no gamers category so getting them to play is a big win for me. Love this topic so thank you for covering it.

    Horrified is my number one pick. Cooperative games work especially well for people who were traumatized as a kid by overly-competitive boardgaming siblings. I have also found LLAMA to be a great step up from Uno.

      Horrified is a big hit around these parts!!

    Great list, thank you! Codenames is my go to...or junk art. Next level one I can't wait to show my parents is The King Is Dead

    You damn silly little nuts. Haha. What a great start to my morning. I have a bunch of responsibilities I have to take care of today. It was great to start the day off with some lighthearted silliness!

    very good list! Normally these type of intro lists have the same classics on them ' 7 wonders', 'Dixit', 'Codenames' so it was refreshing to see some very different games on here. Also, I'm going to try and find Town 66 because you guys have talked about it a few times now, it seems fun!

    Another awesome and fun video, with some great suggestions. We have 3 of the 'Taco, Cat...' games, including the Canadian one, which is 'Taco, Puck, Maple, Syrup, Canoe'. Thanks for the Saturday morning chuckles with KIND OF!

    I enjoyed this list ! Most of the games I haven’t heard of and they look fun!
    I was surprised to see Hanabi on this list. While it’s not a complicated strategy level game, I do not try to teach it to people that aren’t normally boardgamers.

    • @FostertheMeeple

      Fair enough! It’s gonna work for some and not others, much like the hobby as a whole

    Let's say, hypothetically, that the opening minutes of this video caused a viewer to spill/snort a liquid substance down the front of said viewer's shirt. Who is responsible for the cost of dry cleaning? Excessive hilarity, with no warning whatsoever, comes at a price! (You guys are the best!)

    This is a great list y’all. Totally agree I think when you can, play a game that you can tie back to a classic! And yeah I’m real bad at saying “my mom” in front of nick who does in fact share the same mother as me

    • @FostertheMeeple
      @FostertheMeeple  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hhaha love that! She’s your mom. Own it

    Century Spice Road, Deception: Murder in Hong Kong, Azul, Imhotep, One Night Werewolf, Skull, Sheriff of Nottingham, and Fun Facts are some I use. Now question - how to you meet a woman so beautiful playing board games? The board game groups i go to are mostly male and nerdy.

    Medium for 2 people, then similo, Just One, Codenames, Uno Flip, even carcassonne are the go-tos for my friends & family who are non-gamers.

    I got a friend of mine interested in boardgames with GoNuts for Donuts. It has a "SushiGo" vibe.

    Tracy: "No, I wouldn't. Not for a billion doll hairs."
    Kenneth: "I'm sorry, did you say, 'doll hairs'?"
    Tracy: "Yeah, they're not worth nothing. You could probably sell them to a doll company and get maybe $40,000 for them."

    Taco! Cat! Goat! Cheese! Pizza! I freaking love this game. Yes, I also enjoy heavy euros. Deal with it.

    The games that seem to be the quickest reaches and go over the best in my experience have been dice throne and project L. Dice throne is a little complicated but everyone knows Yahtzee so generally they may need help for a round or two but then in no time they’re whooping me. Project L is just simple and fun and a game that it doesn’t seem to matter win or lose people just enjoy

    • @FostertheMeeple
      @FostertheMeeple  ปีที่แล้ว

      Project L is a good call-out. However I’ve had it be a bit of a miss introducing it to some friends! But like always, not every game is gonna be a hit

    Mirco Macro is a great family game ...even says so in the rules...Full house and All In are on my wall just waiting on the 4th the fill out the full map.

    • @FostertheMeeple
      @FostertheMeeple  ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean. It has some pretty intense iconography and theming including murder. I wouldn’t say all families would be ok with that.

    Why bother about what games to get for your friends who don't like board games? Get games you love and that your friends who do like board games will love. Then, maybe you can convince a non-gamer friend to join you and your other friends for a game night and maybe they'll like it. But to buy games specifically for non-gamers seems like a waste of time and money to me. That said, the best party game for large groups of people gamers and non gamers alike...cosmic encounter

    • @FostertheMeeple
      @FostertheMeeple  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you missed the point. This isn’t a list for people who don’t like board games. It’s a list of board games to introduce to people. Also, I’d never use cosmic encounter for non gamers. But to each their own.

    Warning to future viewers: This video contains multiple instances of streamlined shenanigans.
    (As for the gaming question, I've had great success with Cascadia. Basic mechanic of the game is easy to grasp, people like the nature theme, there's a sense of creating something beautiful at the end, and it's pretty forgiving.)

    A slow penetration is always preferable, you’re both right.
