Installing Japanese cypress wood siding on my akiya bathroom

- I'm renovating my Japanese bathroom. Old Japanese bathrooms are notoriously ugly and basic. I'm going to completely reform my Japanese bathroom into a more comfortable space. I'm finishing applying concrete to the walls and installing Japanese cypress, known as hinoki, on the walls. This house was an akiya and the bathroom was in shambles. This update has taken time because I do most of my sawing outside now and the rain has not been helpful.
In this episode I'm applying a finish concrete layer to a wall.

Thank you everyone for watching! Be sure to hit the like button if you enjoyed the video! Sorry this one took so long 😅
Excellent video, as always! Your bathroom will be lovely. And you most certainly deserve Oscar awards for best actor, best director, best screen play. best lighting. And your wife needs one for best supporting actress.
Wife and I deserve onion awards for acting for sure lol 😂 We get a good laugh out of it.
Always a pleasure to watch your artistic flair in not only giving pointers on how you upgraded your Japanese traditional home, but also adding humor. I hope your daughter will watch these later when she's older and guarantee the apple doesn't fall far from the tree😁
Maybe she'll be inspired to be a better film maker than her father lol She loves the kappa character. She's totally not scared of it.
The best content on TH-cam
Appreciate it man!
Amazing video! Thanks for choosing Dovoh H3-360G for your project.
It's a pleasure to use the H3-360G. Great laser!
Glad to see another update of perhaps the most confusing split personality DIY show I have been blessed to discover.
The bathroom is looking good, can't wait to see the finished project. The realignment of the saw must have been really tedious, I can see how you can get loopy enough from that. Not that the whole Kappa story arc isn't already making you insane.
I think I have more than just two personalities lol Walking around town in cemeteries at night is making insane too lol
Yes!! Finally. So excited for the new vid bud.
Hope you enjoyed it!
A New Video ! Thank You !! Love all of it, you life my dream
Appreciate it so much!
Love your channel, most entertaining DIY Iv seen in a while, I’m disappointed in my self that I have only just come across your channel but to make up I caught up from start to finish! Keep the amazing content coming!
Appreciate it! Glad you found the channel interesting!
Bathroom is looking good, a pity about the Kappa problems 😃
But at least the Kappa keeps me on task lol
Hmmm I think it could be another spirit in the video that does that 😃
You probably figured out the end of the plot lol
No no keen to enjoy your next video 😃
The wood looks very nice like in a sento.
1. Please try not to keep cucumbers around the house if your area has a kappa infection. Fortunately they have a weakness that renders them harmless. Just be polite to them.
2. I rented a place that had a fiberglass enclosure placed inside the space of the Showa era bathroom. They ran about 30-50 man at Joyful Honda. Ours was nice with all the fancy controls, but condensation would always drip from the ceiling until I opened it up and shoved a load of insulation up there.
3. Not sure, but it seems to me weep holes at the bottom corners of the wood frame might help allow moisture to escape. The war against kabi never ends! The nice smell of fresh cedar is part of Japan.
4. Love the long light with the single tube inside. Natsukashi! Always wanted one.
Like the colorful floor for the same reason.
This bathroom had the same type of tub. I actually lost the footage of the tear down of the tub and then suddenly found it only after I had posted these videos. But this type was anything but nice. There was absolutely no way of reusing it.
I'll look into making weep holes. The smell is glorious! Makes me wish I had used hinoki in other areas of the house for the smell alone.
And you're crazy if you like that light! You'll get a kick out of the next video then... I won't have soft kind words about it lol
I’m really glad I found your channel, your content reminds me of me and my brother when we renovated this really old house in France. Keep up the good work, your videos are amazing!
It’s great to hear you’re enjoying the channel! It must have been such a fun adventure renovating a house in France. What happened to the house in the end?
FINALLLLYYYY!!! 😁🫶
I know right... took forever lol Winter was cruel to me.
@@DIYJapan lol I’m sure! … well either way I LOVE your videos and can’t wait for more, but I will wait haha 😂
idk if this was known or available but in the US, concrete needs anchors that are hammered into the pre drilled hole then the sleeve can fit inside, and the pressure of the fastener pushes out and compresses the anchor more securely (galvanized preferably in the wet environment)
This Old House showed me that
Yeah, I know of this technique. I didn’t think the weight would be enough to require it. The bolts I used are for cement and bite down hard. I tried ripping one out and it was impossible… so I thought good enough lol 😂 maybe in ten years… yikes? Who knows.
Dziękuję za dodanie języka polskiego w tłumaczeniach. Bardzo lubię Twoje filmiki, dają mi dużo radości. 😊
Od kiedy mnie o to prosiłeś, starałem się nie zapomnieć napisać tego po polsku!
i love these
Thanks! Hope it didn't disappoint.
❤❤❤

Awesome awesome!!!! 👏 Yamagata is a pretty area! It has nice countryside areas. You should check out a temple called “Yamadera” when you settle in.
Ill Make The drive this weekend, Thanks for the recommendation @@DIYJapan

I almost didn't click on this video, because of the autotranslated title of it. I absolutely hate those. When any such video appears in my feed from a channel, I'm not subscribed to, I always ask TH-cam to never recommend it to me again.
So weird. I think I corrected it... Not sure why it did that. Thanks for pointing it out for me.
