Daniel, that's one hell of an idea to put them all together in an album specifically for counterfeits, and display them at coin shows. You're not just the Jedi numismatist, but a caped crusader to preserve the honesty and integrity of the hobby and profession. Keep it up, pal.
That's one of the saddest part of coin collecting. Good video Daniel!
Lawd help me! Ha! The way Daniel talks about scarcity of this particular series, it's peaked my interest. I've been eyeballing eBay for a couple to stick in the sock drawer and forget about them. After this video I'll only buy certified copies knowing very well that certified copies are counterfeited too. Ugh!
There is a certain cleaned look that the counterfeits have, where the cleaned part is too clean, and the dirty part is too dark or there is too much of a separation between clean/dirty. Or, it looks like an image where the contrast is too high. Hard to describe, but as I was watching these even before you started testing them, something seemed off about them in the back of my mind. Thanks for showing these! 👍
Daniel, we appreciate all you teach us. You are a God send! Appreciate you brother
Heart breaking, thank you for sharing and educating
Thanks Daniel. This is the sad part of collecting. Scammers and fakes out there. Know what you are buying and if its too good to be true, probably is...and that's not to say even if it isn't too good to be true, could still be a fake.
Most excellent! Thank you Daniel!
ANACS has done a good job lately . There grading is as good if not better than pcgs and ngc in my opinion. They had their problems in the past but over the last decade, they seem to be well back on track.
Wow! Great video Daniel 👍🏼 I have always wanted to collect these. Well the real ones 😉
Wow!
Very convincing counterfeits.
I'm thinking twice about trying to add some to my collection. Thank you, Daniel.
I've tested the coins in my Morgan Dollar collection and they are all real.
Now I've decided that I should test all the other silver coins in my collection. Washington quarters , Mercury and Roosevelt dimes.
I'm dreading the task of removing the coins from their albums. I guess it's time to get my gloves and scale and get to weighing.
I started collecting over 50 years ago. I know counterfeits have been around forever but it seems the problem gets worse and worse every year.
Looking forward to your next video. thanks
Wow that's crazy, thank you for the information it's very informative.
Make album of those fakes !!
Ya, it is a big problem. Thanks Daniel.
Holy cow , there is a lot of broken dreams in those flips
You have a really nice collection of counterfeit coins. LOL
Thanks for sharing, Daniel. 😀
I wonder are they modern counterfeits or were they counterfeited in the mid 1800s? Some of them look very worn.
WOW, That was a great video! very interesting
Crazy how real they look
Great video
Those don't look like products out of China. I am guessing American basement mint products.
I took the Red Book out. Imagine making a Counterfeit that doesn't even exist!?? Legally, they are supposed to put the word, "COPY," on the coin according to the 1973 Coin Hobby Act.
Very educational
A few fooled me ! Your the expert ...
Thanks. Personally, I still have to learn a lot more ....
Bravo
Wow, good video 😊
Holy cow!!! Counterfeit!!!! OMG 😳
They all look cast.
I have been wanting to buy one, (cheaper one), but I am so scared of counterfeits.
That is scary. I seen a place sale fake but that is scary
WOW.
Thank you Daniel ! Your educational videos can only help the hobby. Very interesting too. As for the fakes : You didn't mention the simple magnetic test. As I recall, silver is not magnetic, but many of the base metals used to make cheap fakes are magnetic. I guess that these fakes are better quality and not made of magnetic metals ?
Correct, not magnetic.
There is a Chinese Company called Temu. They will sell you all the seated dollars you want for 2.69 a piece. All you want Morgan’s seated halves. Be very wary my friends.
What is a Morgan seated half?
Should have read Morgans and seated dollars. So sorry about the grammatical error. You must be an English Professor.
I knew what you meant.
For the low low price of 2.99 😅
@@anthonykaminskasbenjihunter yes quite.
Too bad Maury Povich didn't test Grandpa before he passed. Grandpa might not have been Grandpa
GREAT VIDEO. All of he feathers on the reverses look off/wierd.
These are damn good fakes!
They had to be made outside of China which is getting very very good at making fake coins considering how long ago these were made if they were in a grandfather's collection
Very upsetting.
Just my thoughts, the numbers & letters look a bit odd. Especially the 1846 ‘O’ coin.
Man this is eye 👁 opening, both fakes are a way of the land I guess, once there was a saying about counterfeiters
the way the dates looked gave it away imo
The reverse almost always looks better than the obverse.
It's sad that they are all counterfeit. It's a shame.
Wow
I'm new to coin collecting and I was just sort of looking for some guidance in that. Not really sure how to collect to be honest. I've heard many suggestions, like getting a complete run of a certain coin or one coin of every type and all that. But I'm not sure how to go about it. Not sure if going after Key Dates is the way to do it or what. Any help would be appreciated.

What about the White Holder and the staples around the coins? Was that included. ? Did I miss that part of the message?
It must be over the sensor and they where not. SIGMA has a website and you can watch videos and learn how they operate. I had to do that when I bought mine.
Add my 1854 seated liberty to the pile of counterfeits! I am out $2700 and struggling to get my money back
i knew they were counterfeit when i saw all the rare dates and especially the 1851-0 no such thing as 51-0.
I thought of filling up a dansco 7070 album with just counterfeits.
the album will cost more than the coins
Why?That could fall into the wrong hands.
They are illegal to own, though I imagine that the Secret Service wouldn't break down your door... IF you don't try to sell them.
@@harrybond1485 I've been buying and selling coins for a long time and pull out counterfeits whenever I come across them.
A full 7070 us type set album of these Chinese counterfeits would be good to have to show new collectors what to watch out for.
Doesn't the sigma measure conductivity? Which means it can't be in a 2x2 etc ?
The staples where not over the sensor
Very sad
How much are they worth?? About 20 + years if the Secret Service finds them and presses charges!!!!
Counterfeit coins are not illegal to own but it’s illegal to try to spend them or pass off as real.
Wow, thanks for the video. Fakes all around.
THERE SOOO BEAUTIFUL
TO BAD THERE FAKES
Gents, this is only one of the many reasons I purchase from PCC. They know and sell only genuine goods.
Who is pcc?
PCGS ?@@harrybond1485
PCC = Portsmouth Coin & Currency which is my coin shop.
HOW can the sigma get an accurate test thru the paper and plastic holders ?!?!? Doesnt that throw off the weight AND the signal ?!?!
It works with coins in 2x2s. It isn't a balance.
I recommend going to SIGMAs website and reading up in what it can do.
Those all look pretty fake to begin with 😅
Those are nice for fakes!
has anyone ever heard or ever seen copper nickels i recently found 2 at my job any info will be appreciated i’ll post a picture on my page so everyone can see them
They must weigh 3.1 grams to be copper cause nickels turn red brown when environmentally damaged.
Daniel: I realize that you are a knowledgeable Numismatist,so I assume that you must be aware of the fact, that Seated Dollars were all minted in China. LOL.
Not all of them, some are minted in the USA and other countries, they’re everywhere.
