I don't know about New York but speaking as an Irish person they chose the worst possible street to put that portal on. In fact most of the streets in Dublin city are absolute shitholes. Junkies and homeless people roam the streets. I avoid going there unless absolutely necessary. I'm not surprised that they embarrassed us in this way.

I spent week in Dublin in 2022. Walked and walked and walked... I didn't see any shithole streets covered in homeless... not to say there aren't any of those... I'm sure there is... but I thought Dublin was beautiful and the people were great... to a person. The issue may be that the Irish aren't fond of Americans?

I am from dublin Ireland and the street on which the portal is on is an absolute shithole lots of homeless and drug users on that street so not surprised it’s bring abused

By all accounts a lot of posts mention the street it’s on in Dublin is not exactly desirable. Why not give the money to renovate the area, Then put the portal in? Either way it’s in now so not much anyone can do! Just 4 million could make a real change to a lot of lives when a lot of media posts about how bad everything is

I was waving at a guy through the portal today from Dublin. He took a selfie with me haha. They put the portal in a very had place in Dublin. They wanted it pointing at the spire to make Dublin look cool. But the place they put it is filled with drug addicts. They should have stuck the portal in Stephens Green Park and in NYC they should have stuck their portal in Washington Square Park!
It's sad that some people have to ruin something nice for everyone.
What did they expect in Talbot at night, kumbaya? It's almost like the DCC and the person who came up with the idea doesn't know Dublin at all. It's been let run in to the ground over a period of years now, maybe decades. That used to be a bustling part of the city, always a few rough people, but nothing like now. You have to be alert now in case you get a bottle thrown at you or something.

It’s a nice experience I was there on Saturday night doing livestream of the portal for my YT channel but then it’s the time of the day and especially when a weekend comes, people are just starting to get out of control with the portal people wish displaying hateful messages, and showing inappropriate and intimate videos through the portal I feel like the needs to be security and it needs to be monitored a bit better because you don’t know who’s walking by. It could be younger people/children and they see that type of stuff it’s just disturbing and disgusting, I feel like there needs to be more action and consequences taken when troublemakers come to the portal and trying to cause trouble. I also think it should be safety should be a priority also because you don’t know what type of danger is around.

Not sure what sparked the sudden hate between NY and Ireland but the 9/11 thing was a classlessly low blow. I didn’t see any Americans showing artworks depicting the years long irish potato famine that caused an unfathomable amount of people to slowly starve to death….on an island surrounded by fish….😐🤷♂️.
