  • Bridgestone recently unveiled the Turanza EV - their first ever replacement tire designed exclusively for the electric vehicle market. But, the way they engineered this tire sets it apart from other EV tires on the market, and that’s why it’s genius.

    Love the idea. Very curious how they will stack up with regards to their durability.

    I don't care about the "green" marketing garbage, I just want a tire that gives me low rolling resistance (range) and excellent wet weather grip.

      And a 50k mileage warranty. Do t like changing my tires every 28,000 miles

    There is a common problem with the MG4 X-Power experiencing vibrations around 100km/h - MG4 do not have an official solve, but some suggest it is from flat spots on these tyres from incorrect long term storage

    Green is great, but not enough on it's own. What I really want is better range with low noise and decent performance for a good price. Unfortunately Bridgestone doesn't seem to be pushing better range as a key feature of the EV tires, or publishing rolling resistance data. Currently I have Bridgestone Turanza Quittrack tires which are decent tires. More importantly, they are warrantied for 80,000 miles vs 50,000 miles for the EV version (for the same tread depth). They are also less expensive than the Turanza EV tires. Being green isn't compelling enough to pay more AND get a worse warranty. The tires I have will probably only last 50,000 miles, because Telsa cars eat through tires faster than normal cars which will make the next set even less expensive.

      Just as a comment: The EV version has all the features and technologies of the Quiet Track and they guarantee the tread to last at least 50k miles in cars that are known to burn rubber faster than normal. As long as the tires are burning evenly they will honor a mile warranty(rotate at least every 5k miles for Tesla and you should b set). Many that are using the quiet tracks are burning thru the quiet tracks in 20k-30k miles(when not minding the driving style). The people getting higher mileage out of the quiet tracks tend to drive smoothly and not use the car's full power.
      My take is that this warranty on the EV version is based on driving the car as intended without underutilizing its instant torque, fast cornering, and quick braking. Of course that doesn't mean it will last 50k if you like to do donuts and like to spin the tires to produce smoke.
      I would also like to see the rolling resistance data, but they do seem to be energy efficient which the quiet tracks are not. I just bought a new tire set for my Model S 75D, replacing my Michelin Pilot sport 4's(which are superb in energy efficiency, low rolling resistance while keeping high performance). Let me tell you I am loving these tires, I haven't felt that I've lost the performance of the Pilot 4's(summer tire). While at the same time, the Turanza EVs are whisper-quiet and much more comfortable than the Michelins. I'm yet to break-in the tires and after 700 miles of driving them my power consumption has not increased.

      You won't get 80000 miles warranty on the normal QT for an EV. the 50000 miles for the QT EV is the best any manufacturer has come out with so far.

      @@deus216 You are wrong, there is no exclusion in the warranty for EVs. It's a full 80,000 mile warranty.

      I’m getting them for skiing trips up north while 90% miles will be in AZ so expecting these will be quieter than full snowtires. This YTube does not mention a key feature of the tire engineering, having innovative cross ridging at the top of groove providing traction in snow
      My tire dealer gave me same price as QT.
      If I got 50k miles on any tire I’d be shocked.

      @anthonyc8499 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MichaelJCroninND I would not use an all season for trips up into the mountains to go skiing. You'd be better off getting a good all-weather tire that will keep you safe on snowy roads but won't melt in the summer.

    It's not necessarily a niche market when the Model Y is now outselling Camry and Corolla.

    Because of weight and strong performance, EVs go through tires faster than most cars. The main reasons someone might consider this tire are the 50k warranty, tire cost, and efficiency. You touched on exactly none of these points. NOBODY is going to "brag" over the green materials in a tire. Seriously, nobody

    So their main point is they use recycled components? Nobody cares about that... people want better range and performance, not to drive on recycled garbage...
