I have the same problem of being Thanked when I let cars go past me on my motorbike. I rarely see a hand go up in the car or the hazard light flash after I've slowed & pulled into the kerb.

A tip for you at 15:22 when you are turning left and there is a broken line cycle lane, then put your car right on next to the curb and block the cycle lane.
When turning left always be close to the curb so cyclists can't undertake.
    It avoids so much trouble.

I feel your pain with the blind lady when you were dropping your passenger off (clip at 5:30). I've had the exact same thing happen to me when waiting to reverse into my driveway, with the reversing lights and indicator on, person trundles up behind, inches closer and closer to the point they were literally inches behind me, the whole time my indicator AND REVERSE lights were on, then beeped at me, when there was absolutely no other traffic whatsoever. I beeped them back and apparently that woke them up as they then reversed back from me and drove around, allowing me to finally back into my driveway. Thankfully it's only happened the once in 5 years plus of living where I do now but I think it's left me permanently paranoid that it's going to happen again someday!

I remember the public info films cos we had to watch a lot of them at school in the 1970s. A small crt was wheeled out and we all had to watch TV, it was amazing to actually watch TV when we should be learning and the thing that sticks with me was watching Concord on it's first flight.

Credit given where due 🚲🚲 which adds balance and is a clear demonstration that you don't "hate" on them without a valid reason.
This cold 🍺 is tasting even better with your upload.

Hi Tony, It's about time I leave a comment on your channel. I've been a subscriber for several months and your videos are both funny and educational. (Your choice of expletives are first class.) We are of a similar age, which means we both learned to drive from the same era and I find I agree with you 100% in everything you post. It saddens me that we have to deal with incompetent and dangerous drivers literary every minute of the day. Motorists are either plain stupid, dangerous or just entitled.
I've decided to carry a packet of wet shit and I swear I will throw it at someone who deserves it.
Keep up with the good work. 😃

The Mercedes almost taking out the dog walker, they would both have a better view if he trimmed the bush on the edge of the drive. Another element of my job is requesting that property owners keep their vegetation cut back when it hangs over a footpath or road, 5his applies to plants creeping on the floor that may be a trip hazard or plants overhanging that might catch people in the face.

Oh, The Two Second Rule. Back in the Dark Ages when I was learning to drive, my father, who was an instructor at the Met Police Driving School, almost forcibly drummed it into me by making me say it aloud every time we were following another vehicle. That was over 50 years ago and I still use it every day. When I die those 8 words will be found engraved on my heart.

seeing the kind of local-authority idiocy that's evident in this video just makes me more appreciative of Barnsley council; they're doing major road resurfacing works all across the district, they gave everyone involved plenty of notice, and they get it done promptly - for context, I live in a small town that's a long way out from the centre of the district, and disruptive works to local roads were mostly done at night, and never lasted more than 2-3 days

The current people who ride bikes have have never taken a cycling
proficiency test and don't know the rules of the road God help them and us when they start
    to drive.

      @xo2quilt 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Depending on the roadworks here in the western US happen from 7 PM to 7 AM, so most traffic isn't impacted. If it is a big job, they will work around the clock to make the impact shorter. Are the roadworks people government employees?? That could be the problem. Here, jobs are contracted out at a specific price/time frame (with penalties applied if you over on the time), so they are motivated to get the job done swiftly and correctly. When my city people fill potholes, they are usually lower quality jobs. Getting jobs out of government hands and into private businesses who have a reputation to protect gets jobs done better and faster, most of the time. Easier to fire private businesses or assess them penalties than to do that with government employees.

Rear end accidents are very common on roundabouts, this rule makes them more common. Also, you are only supposed to do it if it is safe to do so i.e., no one 6 inches off your back bumper and since everyone follows too close to each other everywhere, especially on roundabouts, and lots of roundabouts are fast moving and can be very busy, it is very rarely safe to stop on leaving a roundabout unless in heavy traffic when everyone is slow anyway.

at 12:25 you correctly recognise that the cyclists did the right thing and stopped behind. But you moan about the cyclists in the next clip and I cannot see why at all. At 13:45 the cyclist joining is way ahead of you, is doing a decent speed and does not interfere with your progress at all. He correctly stays in his lane for a while just in case you make a lane change. He senses you are not going to, does a look back at 14:00 to see you are still holding back so then knows it is safe for him to go into the lane he wants. How you cannot see his unfold is beyond me and worrying. His riding was exemplary but for some reason you don't like it - very strange. And as for the passing of the cyclists coming up the the red light - it's a red light so it's obvious that they will be slowing down for it and hopefully coming to a stop so the 1.5 m distance is irrelevant. Again, how you cannot evaluate this yourself and make up your own reasoning yet need help from others is very worrying? - you drive for a living!!

And a lot of people commented, quite rightly, that you created confusion in the driver to your left by waiting a long time to emerge. And quoting Highway Code rules on roundabouts is fine but the rule you often forget, and never really consider, is the preamble to rule 103 "The rules in The Highway Code do not give you the right of way in any circumstance, but they advise you when you should give way to others.
