Here in Holland there is a speed limit for cars of 100kph (62 mph) between 06:00-19:00 (depending on where in the country one is allowed to go 120 or even 130 outside the time limit) and for lorries it is 80kmh (50mph). In most cases where it is a double lane, those times also dictate for lorries that they are not allowed to overtake. Lorries are allowed to overtake where there is a minimum of three lanes. The problem is lorries are allowed to go 90kmh or 55mph in most other European countries, and as we know the ones with white plates and stubborn looking drivers will go 62mph anyways. They work for 1 quid an hour and do roughly 800 hours a week so they are quite eager to cover as many a mile within the little time they have. We have decent roads in Holland yet it is a bit crowded in many places. Thanks to Rotterdam Port and other cities we do get a lot of foreign transport carrying the goods from here to there. Lovely chaps no doubt but they don't care one bit about rules, nor do their bosses who buy a house in Poland and will use that as their main business adress so they get cheap labour and insureance and fill Europe with bad, eager yet sleepy and angry unfit drivers. I'm sure many just bought their drivers license or copied it from a lookalike.
16:50 Tony you are totally correct - the road marking is both ambiguous & misleading. Why would someone design it to be like this ? Nobody should be in that left hand lane from the slip road if they have any intention of going back up the M23.
I get confused by many many roundabouts. The markings are very often not clear. When they indicate a destination at entry, that's a good clue to follow all the way to the exit, but otherwise it's just guesswork. And I have seen many occasions when people guessed differently and ended up hitting each other.
It's astonishing how many people misunderstand average speed cameras. They were once installed on the old A14. You would observe drivers speeding, then slowing down as they passed a camera, only to accelerate again until the next one. However, that's not how they operate.
Yep, where the roads here in UK only have two lanes, the HGVs can use both. It's only where there are 3 or more lanes that they are not allowed to use the outside lane.
Totally agree about the M23 spur roundabout, I'm surprised there haven't been any collisions. There is the same problem at Pease Pottage, lane 2 on the roundabout is signpoisted for the exit, but the road markings (and for that matter the road sign!) say lane 1 can go round. There have been several collisions as a result, and I think it's going to be changed - last time I was there there was a sign saying "road markings are wrong"!
You don't have to go far to encounter these idiots who call themselves "drivers",do you? How is the blood pressure by the way? Keep up the good work, you're a star!

Was on the M25 a while ago, sat nav was saying congestion ahead and offered a new route through sutton, reigate areas. Remembering The London dash cam films lots of inconsiderate drivers in those areas. Decided to stay on the M25 for my safety & sanity.
The cyclist at 2:50 is correct not signalling left. As a former bikeability trainer if a student did signal there they should be pulled-up for it. First rule is keep control. Taking a hand off to indicate is a reduction of control both steering and braking and should therefore only be done when there is another road user who needs to know what you intend to do. In the case of a left turn into a minor road as here the only person who would need to know that is someone who is emerging front that minor road. There is no one doing that in the clip so best to keep both hands on the bars.
Well done on your TH-cam channel success. 9:30 when you was leaving the A20 in Sidcup area, I seem to remember that Mercedes because of the private reg. I wonder why? Further along at the junction where the blue Yaris was in the wrong lane, I tend to go left when heading from my area Bexley Borough to Croydon and Sutton, instead of following the A222 as I assume you did. Overall, a very entertaining video.
I have to drive to and from Gatters quite often and it's an absolute nightmare. Between the taxis, van drivers and people who can't navigate the airport I don't know how I manage it without losing my mind haha.
LJ08ASX comes up as a Ford Mustang on the gov.uk MOT history checking site and just a Ford with 4+ litre engine on the Tax checking part of the same site - your App must be getting the wrong information.
if you look at all the white dash's for road markings on the round-about at 13:33 then you would see your lane peels off to lane 2 of the new road, and therefore you are wrong to turn right on the round-about it is the single lane that turns into 3 lanes on the round-about and then filters into all 4 lanes, but as done safely in the clip I wouldn't have a problem with it, apart from the special case that is in the wrong lane and causes massive problems for everyone.
On my vehicle check app it's a complete mix up, it says it's a transit van but with a petrol 4.6 litre engine. Using Vehicle smart, it says a Mustang. Being an import I guess has confused some poor soul at DVLA 😂
Rosehill Roundabout, you have paused the video at the best possible moment at 12:24 as it shows on the road in front of you the lane you are in continues forwards only. Look at the lane markings just to the right in front of your car and to the right of the blue car in front of you. Rub out the markings for the direction from the left and then extend the lines to a standard length and you will see that your lane is straight on, not a right turn, in my opinion The right hand lane _does_ split into multiple lanes afterwards and really is a counter intuitive design that makes it feel awkward as...🦆 Edit: That roundabout on the A23 for Gatwick should also have the same markings to indicate the lane continues straight and the “lane to the right” is for those entering the roundabout from your left. Awful markings on that roundabout and an accident waiting to happen
Now I don't know if you're familiar with this roundabout but at busy times if everyone used that one lane to turn right and filter out into the four other lines this place would not move it just would not move which is another reason why I say that it's all wrong, the road markings are all wrong. What you got to look at as well is no one should be on my right-hand side as I come around the bend there so all three of them lanes that can potentially turn right should be turning right because it's a complete waste of road otherwise.
@@thelondondashcamI have usedbit a few times although not recently. Whether the cyclist is turning left or not is totally irrelevant - You couldn't have safely passed him at that pinch-point: I've had it done to me so many times that I now ride through those pinch-points smack in the middle of the lane, so any attempt to pass amounts to dangerous driving.

@nuntius1933 I was actually just pointing out that he didn't say he wanted to overtake. However, whether you're in a car, on a motorbike or bike, if you have someone around you who might be affected by a manoeuvre you intend to make, you signal.
3:00 is hard a a cyclist, because taking your hand off the handlebars is a danger in itself, especially when someone comes up close behind like you did. Quick check that nobody would benefit from your signal then clear the road as quickly as possible. Is it by the book? No. Is it worthy of your scorn? Not at all.
Welcome to my part of SE London. The black Merc joining the A20 that then overtakes the Tesla to go back off at 9:12 is nothing unusual at that junction. They do it all the time and more often join the A20 there and dive straight into the middle lane even though the on-slip just becomes the inside lane and there is nothing to overtake and most sit at below the 50mph speed limit anyway forcing everyone else to change lanes. Also, this is where I had to move to the outside lane to pass a woman in the middle lane doing way less than the speed limit only to glance across to see that she was on her laptop. Does that count as a hand held device or is it to big to be classed as such so therefore not illegal?
Continental motorways and dual carriageways have signage that restricted vehicles cannot use the outside lane, either permanently, or during specific times (rush hours). Maybe the absence of these signs in the UK makes them think it does not apply in the UK.
The M20 has had smart motorway layby construction for months, the 50mph speed limit doesn't apply to foreign lorries who are "forced" to use lane 4 (lane 1 is closed) as Bitish traffic is speed limited. It's all quite logical really. It used to be quite scary on the M20 smart sections at night. There would almost always be lane closures and 50 mph speed limits, sometimes a sudden 40 mph speed limit, slowing down and pulling into a slower lane makes sense until you see the foreign lorry in your mirror approaching at 60 mph. One night they set the gantry lights at 50mph and the speed camaras at 40 mph, everyone got flashed.
In Europe, you dont see as many HGVs.. because Europe didnt have a Dr Beeching moment and still have functional rail freight systems. Germany has sections where HGVs are banned from overtaking at all..
Dr Beeching was not a Doctor, he was Ernest Marples paid goon who was tasked with wrecking the UK Rail System ! Why was this you might be asking ??? answer is that Ernest Marples had tons of cash invested in Road Building and he wanted the competitor significantly weakened !

LJ08 ASX comes back as a Grey Ford, and that looks like a grey Ford Mustang GT to me...

would you have done anything different had the cyclist signalled the left turn?
The HGV was flashing his colleague's going the opposite way on the motorway.
Don't forget when driving in the UK we're expected to be psychic and know where people are going when knob heads don't indicate 😂
just a persistent whinger, always right and no understanding of compromises
Tony, at 12.20 I see two lanes feeding two lanes and a right turn lane feeding the other two. Am I right ?
got to remember indicators on german cars is an optional extra
4:25 AND he turns in at the no entry (into the bus station) perhaps it's somehow a way to avoid drop off fees?
Rosehill roundabout should be renamed Rose West roundabout as it looks deadly.

Most countries across the EU don't permit HGVs into the third lane. I'm not aware of any that do permit it except in extremis.
Stupid question, but can you see the Mustangs front number plate from your rear camera?
In Europe, you dont see as many HGVs.. because Europe didnt have a Dr Beeching moment and still have functional rail freight systems.
Germany has sections where HGVs are banned from overtaking at all..
Dr Beeching was not a Doctor, he was Ernest Marples paid goon who was tasked with wrecking the UK Rail System ! Why was this you might be asking ??? answer is that Ernest Marples had tons of cash invested in Road Building and he wanted the competitor significantly weakened !
If boring voices was an olympic sport you would win gold.
