The fish was still moving when he landed on that branch. I think he's making sure the fish has stopped moving, that it's dead and won't bounce around and fall from the nest nor knock a baby out of the nest etc.

All I keep imagining is this guy saying "pretty birds...so majestic" in Bob Ross' voice. Eagles are awesome.

From what I have very recently learned, the food should be completely "still" before it is taken to the nest so as not to disturb the nest or eaglets. Maybe he was waiting for that.

Not sure where you are located but many states have Eaglewatch programs under their Audubon umbrella. They will assign you nests to monitor and collect data on. normally requires about 30 mins of your time, every couple of weeks during the season. it's a great way to observe and record these beautiful creatures.

This is an awesome capture of something we, as humans, rarely get the opportunity to witness. What a wonderful thing!! Thank you for sharing! We have eaglets here in Big Bear, California, which we are able to see LIVE thanks to a webcam that was installed in 2013 and maintained by the Friends of Big Bear Valley. These babies hatched on April 12th and 14th and live in a Jeffrey pine 120 feet above Big Bear. Their nest is approx. 6' wide and 6' deep and has been used more than once as a Bald Eagle nursery. :) Enjoy!! www.iws.org/bigbear_youtube.html

I have read where the mother and dad uses the very same nest year in and year out. I read that a Bald's nest that was found in Canada weighed over a ton.

In recognition of the Native American heritage and their history with eagles I give them all names. Thank you for watching.
