I seriously wish I had seen this video before doing my GCSE and A level product design technology... So much vacuum forming, so many problems! This is a fantastic tutorial for star wars and general techniques!
Ainsworth is a liar. Brian Muir and the late Liz Moore made the stormtrooper armor. All Ainsworth ever did was run the vacu-forming machine. He also claims to use the original molds, which is also a lie.
Those weren't US Marine helmets, they were US Navy Tanker helmets that were the basis for the Rebel Fleet Trooper and Imperial Gunner (aka Death Star Trooper) helmets. Still, these are amazing.
This is so much I can not fully grasp everything into my head :D You Mister, are a LEGEND! And You made part of our lives a lot more interesting :D I will watch anything from you, and hope to learn a lot.

You mean as a buck? No it should be fine as it's not in the direct heat. The flat plastic you do heat doesn't melt and stick to the buck and to release it you pump it full of air like a balloon
Christian Edwards you can buildt one yourself using a wooden box and a vacuum cleaner i tried it and it work surprisingly well heating the plastic up is a bit of the main problem
Hello budy, how are you? Do you sell the Imperial Gunner's disassembled kit? How much is helmo imperial gunner to deliver in Minden (Nevada) I live in Brazil but I have an address Shipito

If I recall correctly, this guy has quite the bad rep with people in the costuming community regarding statements of "making and owning" the original molds.
Absolutely fascinating video. I never realised how similar all the helmet shapes were.

So cool! Carved EVA foam never looks as "real" as vacuum formed plastic.
If I were to use an actual m1 helmet, would the heated plastic and vacuum form affect the helmet?

Use a heatgun, heat evenly.
