    Should have put a 2x4 between the brackets and drywall. Reduces likelihood that it will mess up drywall

    Watching this I realize that buying a wall mounted pull up bar system where the brackets and bar are separate allows you to install them on studs. If you buy a one piece set with a fixed distance between the brackets you might not align with studs so it's not a good idea I guess?

    I've been contemplating to get a wall mounted pull up bar but i am afraid that it will fall apart if i use it too much. Are these safe to use?

      Late reply but you rather put it against a concrete wall than a dry wall because that drywall will break after some use.

    use a stud finder

  • @zero450571

    Thanks for video. I want to do this with a wall strip and hang a dip bar attachment to it. I'm considering mounting the wall strip directly into the drywall and anchoring it to a single stud. I don't want to use a wood backplate if I don't have to. So I'd like your advice. Did you have any problems with the drywall between crushed under the force since you didn't use a backplate between the pullup bar and drywall? Thank you

    • @PlantBasedCyclist
      @PlantBasedCyclist  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I am 6' tall, and I reach about 8'. It's just within arms reach, so the bar is probably 7'6" off the ground. Hope that helps.

  • @jjlee8177
    @jjlee8177 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is it ok if i install it upside down? The position on the wall i can install is too high up, it will be too high to reach if i dont put it upside down.

    • @carsonthomas4122
      @carsonthomas4122 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, because there'll be too much leverage from your body being put on the top bolts if mounted upside down and you'll rip the bolts out

    It has been 1year since u have installed it ..... so has the screws loosen up or any other kind of damage in the walls ? ..... pls ans, i also wanna make the same.

    • @PlantBasedCyclist
      @PlantBasedCyclist  6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      No issues. The only damage to the walls is the 6 holes for lag bolts. If you do it right and install into studs, there shouldn't be a problem.

      Planning on installing mine in the next few days. I plan on using a few stringers across the studs for extra reinforcement. It's interesting to note that any sideways forces are exerted where the brackets tie into the studs. A stud is only 1-1/2" thick and the lag bolt is roughly 1/4" dia. The bolts also go through 1/4" or 1/2" of compressible drywall. It just doesn't sit well with me that over time the bolts could loosen from the brackets even the slightest, thereby causing damage to the wall and possibly splitting the stud.Or maybe I'm overthinking it.

    • @realmille500
      @realmille500 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Seeker Of Knowledge Because if you drill it into a place on the wall where there isn't a stud behind it, you're just trying to attach this whole pullup bar to drywall. Screwing into only drywall won't hold up much more than a poster or small shelf, so it would be dangerous for a pullup bar.

    • @Husker465
      @Husker465 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am going to install mine in my garage. Hopefully putting it into the beams will work just like the studs in a house, although I won't have the drywall over it.

    I weigh 190 and do pull-ups with 2 plates at times. Too heavy?

    • @Nassim-sn4ny
      @Nassim-sn4ny ปีที่แล้ว

      The weight limit for this bar is 500lbs (around 225kg).
      So even at a bodyweight of 100kg and more than 100kg additional weight it’s ok.

    There is no way I would install such an item into drywall. Has to be solid brick etc

    • @STBRetired1
      @STBRetired1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check some other videos for mounting a wall-mounted pull up bar. When mounting on drywall they usually vertically mount two 2x4's or 2x6's to the wall first and then mount the pull up bar all the way through the 2x4 (2x6) into the wall stud. That saves any busting up of the drywall over time. But, that would also mean having to have a bit longer lag screws, too.
