    for those who have NO BASE LAYER, there is a new way to do this. go to the setup tab, then go to "edit texture sets" and then you are there, you can then import the correct maps into the corresponding slots, and just so you know, AO means ambient occlusion. hope this helps

      Yeah but it still doesnt add a baselayer plus I cant use packed textures on certain channels

    Great tutorial, thanks. I've noticed that Mixer in it's current version has memory issues with more complex material setups at 2048px. Pant Mask layers seem to slow everything down when using the brush. I have a powerful PC with 32gbs of ram and the program is struggling using up 7gb of memory.

    • @MrTriPie
      @MrTriPie  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, paint layers/masks seem to have problems, I found it's undo to be pretty unreliable right now. Hopefully performance becomes much more solid as it gets updated.

    • @Puckerization
      @Puckerization 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrTriPie Yes, I forgot to mention that too. Undo not working for me either in that mode. I still like the program though. Far more intuitive than SP.

    Ok, this is a great tutorial but does anyone know? I have a roof model that I import into mixer, when I add the roof tile texture, I rotate so they are horizontal but some of the tiles are vertical. Now is this the way I uv unwrapped in my application ( Blender ) or does mixer do the unwrapping. I have tried various unwrapping methods in Blender with the same result including project from view. Any ideas? :-) Thanks

    • @CarlosX3D
      @CarlosX3D 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So after playing a bit more Im pretty sure that its down to the way I unwrap it in Blender but still haven't managed to sort my roof. Will post when sorted :-)

    Models with multiple texture sets are not supported: Ive tried using a clean mesh with no designated textures and still get the same message. What am I doing wrong. Bet its something simple. Blender 2.82?

    Could you do this for big stuff like buildings roads and stuff. I am ending up with really blurry textures when I import stuff into ue4

    • @MrTriPie
      @MrTriPie  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't recommend using this for things as big as buildings as the texture resolution would have to be pretty crazy, generally I'd just get some tiling textures and maybe trim sheets, and just throw them into materials on your modeling program and UV unwrap, tiling it so that you don't need super high resolution.

    • @vegitoblue2187
      @vegitoblue2187 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrTriPie so tiling is the best approach to this?

    • @MrTriPie
      @MrTriPie  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vegitoblue2187 Its what I would use. there's also tricks you can use to break it up, such as using masks (vertex paint or texture) to alternate between 2 texture versions

    • @vegitoblue2187
      @vegitoblue2187 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrTriPie hmmm I guess I'll try the material tiling approach. Worked for me when I was doing the roads. So if the shader is same for the materials used draw calls would be less right?

    • @MrTriPie
      @MrTriPie  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vegitoblue2187 I believe draw calls are for each different material even if they use the same shader. Using an atlas texture approach such as trim sheets (where it's usually multiple long tiling textures in one texture) are good for draw calls since you can basically have multiple materials in one. You may need a few more vertices if you need to tile on the short direction though, but it's not a big deal

    Yet more "I assume you know BLENDER" - I hate Blender. Is there a more user friendly software, I thought Mixer was enough already. (Blender = Alt Ctrl E, right click twice whilst holding shift)

      Blender is really good & surprisingly userfriendly nowadays.
      You have not been around since before 2.8, it was chaos, I'm glad the menus got reworked.
      Blender is now easier to learn than ever.
