The version of this song that hit me the hardest was the 2019 live performance at the Grammys. Talk about tears - she crushed that live performance.

1st time i saw her was at the Grammys .She showed how a gr8 singer has contol of their vocal instrument while cradling the audience in her hand. She put on a clinic that night. Just pure artistry.

Brandi actually performed the entire “Blue” album by Joni Mitchell live, with her permission of course. They’ve become friends. The album was very impactful in Brandi’s life.

That is one of the best songs I have ever heard. She's up there with John Prine and Randy Newman and Joni Mitchell and Townes Van Zandt in pure songwriting and lyrical ability.

If you have Sirus XM radio, Channel 60 Outlaw Country sounds like it might be a perfect fit for you. So much good music not played on mainstream radio. Keb Mo and Shooter Jennings have become two of my favorites.

I had never heard this song in my life, this woman's voice is very powerful, the vocal ranges are amazing, this song reminds me of The Cranberries - Zombie and Linger.
I can go die happy now! This is all I’ve been waiting for, this song always makes me cry. Trust me that ALL her music is amazing. Her and the twins are amazing songwriters, and her voice is just unbelievable. Her new album In These Silent Days is genius (so are all the other ones). “The Story” next please! Since it’s what really put them on the map back in 2007.

I LOVE The Story. That song was a big part of my childhood and it's the one that put Brandi on a lot of people's radars. Her song from the movie Onward called Carried Me With You is another one of her songs that just gets me.

Around 2000 we were lucky enough to discover Brandi when she opened for Jonny Lang at the House of Blues in N.O. It was Jonny’s acoustic tour and one of the best shows I’ve ever heard. Brandi came out with guitar and the guys that play with her ( the twins!). We stood at the old wooden stage right in front of them while they sat on stools and simply played acoustic guitar and sang just like we were in our own living room! IT. WAS. AMAZING!! ♥️ She has such a powerful voice to be so soft and soothing. She said that she was always told that her voice was a mix of Patsy Cline and - Amber, JANIS JOPLIN! because she can wail!! After, we got to meet her and bought her first limited release CD which only had maybe 5 tracks but we wore it out. Needless to say we became fans on the spot! And I’ve mentioned Jonny Lang before! You guys really need to check him out for guitar skills that are unmatched and a voice like none other! And yeah he played that night sitting in a chair just tapping his foot and brought the house down!! Didn’t even need accompaniment for most of the show. Great reaction guys! Love y’all. 🎶 ♥️ 🎶

Great reaction, another uplifting song, about peace and harmony that is right up your guys lane is AQUARIUS/Let THE SUNSHINE IN The song came out in the late 60s and became like a rallying cry , sung by Billy Davis and Marilyn McCoo, who some 50 years later are still happily married and still making great music. AQUARIUS will not make you cry, it will make you get up and move.

I LOVE this song...it's like the ultimate love song to the underdog, and at one time or another we're all the underdog. So glad you guys got to hear and share it. This would be a good one to have your students listen to. Another great Brandi song is THE STORY, which was from a little earlier in her career. And another song of hers you should check out is called THE EYE.

I love you two! Thanks for all you bring to us. I saw Brandi in 2006 then she performed here in Tucson. Ever since then, every time I hear her voice, it just touches my soul, and my eyes well up.You should do a video of her song "Turpentine", if you want a good cry!. It's about her brother. Man, she is really young in that one.

Brandi does a great cover of "creep" by Radiohead and also the "Story" and "that wasn't me" her own songs. I saw her live and she is just as good as her recorded music.

@@dawnrobbins5877 Absolutely. She was treated so badly by the country music industry way back then it was shameful. There was no support for Her anywhere in the industry in Nashville. Her successes after that bring me great joy. She deserves all respect. She has such an amazing voice and giving soul. I'm so glad she didn't give up. She was too good for country music anyway. In my opinion.

I am SO glad Y'all got to this one at last. you need to watch her do this LIVE at the GRAMMYS about three years ago. It was in the middle of the Trump White House years, and the culture of bullying that he put forth. The magic howling that she did that night more then showed that she earned her Grammy wins that evening as well!!!!

I know this is going to sound like a weird story to relate to this, but hear me out.
Growing up, I knew Paris Hilton from The Simple Life. She played dumb, she was a hotel heiress, I obviously didn’t and don’t know her, but she was just this person that seemed so privileged and materialistic.
A couple years ago she came out with a documentary, one that took a turn she didn’t plan. Come to find out, her parents had her kidnapped from their home in the middle of the night and taken to a reform school for bad kids (when she was a young teen). She was forced to do manual labor, she was physically, mentally and sexually assaulted, she was forced to take drugs and put naked into solitary confinement with no food or water. You TRULY never know what a person is going through or has gone through. Ever.
I was fortunate to see her live in an outdoor concert near Cleveland! Her music is so powerful. She understands what is important in life. Her message is so powerful. My Mom always taught us kids that we all bleed the same blood. Different colors, sizes, sexual orientation whatever we all want this world to love our sisters and brothers!!,so much love to you two. 💕
Brandi is one of the greatest humans ever. Not only is her music stunning, but her charity work and advocacy work is beautiful.
